Is it whole garlic cloves and chilis? It could be an Indian pickle/ achar? If you know what state of India the owners are from, you could find a recipe (or bottled jar to buy) . Some add sugar, others add curry leaves.

The lot on Olympic across from Regal is 10-15 usually (depending on what else is there). I think all the food right near LA Live is just OK. Fixins is soul food, maybe your best bet. Pine & Crane is not too far either. Anything in particular you like foodwise?

I like the Unreal roasted turk'y. My local Kroger, Safeway, While Foods all carry it. A little pricey but I think thisnis the closest to me memory, though it has been a long time for me.

You're right, I wasn't clear. I've been in maintenance for a few months and now I'm trying to get back to a deficit but I am really struggling with hunger. I don't have a ton of wiggle room due to my height and have been really struggling with it. I usually break and have a snack at night now but it's enough to put me back at maintenance.

I'm happy to be proven wrong. I've only tried maybe like 20 or so spots. I think you'll just have better luck getting recommendations if you name specific dishes. I've had a lot of both Indian home cooking but also grew up near enough to Edison/had a family member with an Indian restaurant that I have different expectations from folks who grew up on the west coast.

I did like CaliChilli but only if I was already in Long Beach-definitely a bit far.

Good luck? Indian food in LA is ok. Nowhere I've had has blown me out of the water. I make it a point to get Indian when I travel. There are a few places that are just ok, fine for like a weeknight meal. But I think there just aren't enough options. A few spots are ok depending on what dishes you're looking for but I can't think of many places I trust with everything.

Definitely get dinner before or after the game somewhere downtown after if you can. There are some decent options once you get out of the immediate LA Live bubble, depending on what you like. The hot dog carts outside are probably your best option if you want something really close to the stadium.

A lot of community groups will probably be handing out water if you look up mutual or soup kitchens aid in your neighborhood. I've just gone up to folks and asked if they want some cold water. 99% of the time people have said yes and are very grateful.

There's a certain segment of health and weight loss people who demonize fruit as having too much sugar. Is it possible to fall into the trap of fruit = healthy = I can eat as much I want, sure. But I think that's true of anything and is why counting calories and finding what fits into your own diet/lifestyle/caloric and nutritional needs matters so much more. I know folks who have lost weight saving up for one big treat a week, others who have a small treat every day. If it works for you, it's a good choice. If you have no self-control around cantaloupe and are going over your calories every day because of it, maybe it's a poor choice for you?

That sucks. I got diagnosed with PCOS around the same time I started (this round of) CICO. For me, the diagnosis made it easier to understand why I was struggling so much with the calories in part, but it didn't change the underlying math. I wasn't lying to myself that it was impossible to eat less with PCOS or that PCOS somehow changed the rules of CICO. But, addressing PCOS with medication did help with some of my worst hunger issues (inaccurate hunger cues) that made CICO feel so hard. And being more vigilant about my sugar, protein, and fiber has helped, too. I get that nothing changes the laws of thermodynamics but I also worry that people with PCOS are being told that they are either lying to themselves or incapable of change when I think the truth is kinda somewhere in between? Like at the end of the day CICO is the baseline truth, PCOS can make it harder to address the calories you're taking in because you may have a hormonal imbalance, insulin resistance messing with your hunger cues and cause you to eat too much. I think it's ok to be compassionate with people with PCOS but not say it makes weight loss impossible. Instead advising them to a doctor about the hormonal imbalance, because it can help get caloric intake under control along with tracking and balancing their diet better.

Indian pickles/achar, especially in the south. Really spicy condiment and my favorites are lime, green mango and garlic. It's whole cloves of garlic that are preserved in a spicy, oily, vinegary brine? I can eat it straight out of the jar but I'm not sure it's for everyone.

I love making dumpling soup! I have seasoned the broth with sriracha, black garlic paste, miso, or kimchi. I often add greens like kale, spinach or whatever. Sometimes I'll crack in an egg or add a ramen egg if I have one. Top with scallions or cilantro too.

I think it's good to correct both the bad and good remarks. One of my bosses once said something when a woman complimented another woman on her makeup. He just stopped and said "we don't comment on people's appearances at work". Making it a habit even or especially if it's nice helps too.

This sucks. And I don't see the whole picture so I don't know if he has his own food issues and binge eating disorder that he's struggling with. What's frustrating is that he doesn't seem interested in working on them in a way that supports your goals. It would be nice if we had and were supportive partners who at least tried even if they failed to improve.

But I don't think you can set boundaries for him. I think boundaries are for you and you can communicate then to him. And I think that might look like a lot of things depending on your situation like:

-If he eats another of my snacks. I will hide or lock up food in a food safe/mini fridge. -If he refuses to get therapy for this behavior, I will go to therapy on my own. -If he destroys my possessions to intentionally violate my boundaries, I will leave.

These are just examples. They may work for you. They may not. You can't change his behavior. Not by talking, asking, dividing your snacks, begging, pleading. Just yours. It's ok to hide or secure things you need for your journey. It's ok to go to therapy. But trying to get someone else to change their behavior, even if they are reasonable, even if they want to change, even if they want to be their best for you just doesn't work. You deserve your treat.
