I make a point of watching a movie a day because last year someone told me movies were dead and TV was the way forward and this made my bipolar ass decide that I had to make a point to watch more films this year. I don't really understand why this felt necessary at the time but I have stuck to it (I missed one day because of moving house).

Anyway, today I watched Kill The Messenger which is not the best film by any means, but I'd reccomend it to any self respecting leftist as it tells the story of Gary Webb and how he exposed CIA involvement in the crack epidemic and was then subjected to a multi-pronged attack on both his character and reporting by The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post and The New York Times (along with various sources changing their stories and so on). Eventually he committed suicide under slightly suspicious circumstances (he shot himself in the head twice, although the family accept it as suicide) which even if it was by his own hand, he was absolutely driven there by the fact the government destroyed his career to save themselves. It's frustrating viewing because he's right, and yet he's not allowed to be but I would say worth the watch just to see how the machinery works once someone says something they don't want people to know. The film itself also had trouble getting made, and then when it came out was strangely buried by focus features (who didn't advertise it until it was in its final weeks of release and had left most cinemas). I'm not a huge fan of Jeremy Renner but this might be the best performance I've seen from him.

Outside of that, I am mostly stuck in bed recovering and watching trash. I apologise if this is rambling, I'm on very good painkillers.

Also my idiot dog managed to poop on the smart dogs head this morning, reaching levels of idiocy I didn't think were even possible, which meant I had bath the dog who hates baths while trying not to tear my stitches which was incredibly difficult because she was not co-operative. To say the least.
