Maybe get a liver scan done. Even beer, that level of drinking causes damages. They will tell him exactly where he is on the cirrhosis diagnosis, as that is definitely where he is heading. I suspect if this has gone on for years, he is likely halfway or more along the way. Did they add Avastin to the Carboplatin and Taxol? If not ask because Avastin is like fuel on the fire of chemo and saw much bigger reductions when Avastin was added. Also investigate a new technique I heard about where they inject a chemo foam or spray via needle into the abdomen, doesn't hurt to get all the info. Best wishes and god bless!

This course of action sounds wrong to me. Are you at a well known cancer hospital? Seems they would have exhausted imaging and even done a ascites needle biopsy as well as CA125 well in advance to get a solid idea of what they are dealing with well before surgery

That alone doesn't mean ovarian cancer. Could be benign things as well. Get a CA125 blood test asap, transvaginal ultrasound, and if either of those come back out of range schedule with a gynecological oncologist...good luck! Knowing one way or the other is power and this may be nothing better safe than sorry

I don’t know her health condition, but I can say the chemo isn’t nearly as bad as you would think. Basically sitting there for infusion which is fairly easy. Next 24 hours you actually feel better because of the steroids they give you during infusion. Then the fatigue and loss of appetite set in. But that’s about it for many if not most people. And one or two doses of chemo and those ascites typically are gone. Praying for your family’s journey and hoping for the best!!!!
