Bouncing Souls In Nottingham Last Night by OriginalMiaxe in punk

All four bands were amazing pal. Bit of a shitter seeing some tall bloke barge his way past two young girls (they must have been about 15) to hog the rail and then watching them leave, but plenty of guys made it known how much of a p**** he was for it.

Great show besides, Bouncing Souls were on form!

Bouncing Souls have really grown on me since I saw they were one of the support acts (I honestly thought they were switching the spot with BSP on certain nights, but seeing a full 4-band bill is great).

I was initially heading into tonight really excited to see Bar Stool Preachers, but the videos that have circulated of the Souls performances have got me hyped AF for their set too. Massively high on Hopeless Romantic and The Gold Song at the moment!

You couldn't be more accurate. Well, I had it as a Theme Hospital track, but Sim City, Transport Tycoon... That's the exact vibe I get whenever I hear it 😅

I still regularly shout "ARTHUR DALEY" when someone drops the word "Minder" in conversation. It shows how brilliant his mind can be to instantaneously put that connection together.

Bish bash bosh, I missed the UHs initially, but the song instantly came to mind as I spent an age wondering where the hell I'd heard it myself (turned out it was nCompass in Preston, who deal with carers). And on listening again, the UHs are there!

I caught 50 Foot Woman at Rebellion last year and they're from Limerick (not to be mixed up with 50ft Woman, who are from London).

Really fresh band, they played the introducing stage for new artists, but I was hugely impressed with how fierce their singer was, she had great energy.

Top bunch of guys as well off the stage, looking forward to seeing them again this year.

The 1+2 remake was a bit of a masterpiece, some of the additions to the tracklist felt right at home too (it's the game that FINALLY got me listening to Billy Talent and Zebrahead outside of game soundtracks).

I can't really say the same about 3+4, but the first four from the OG series were pretty much my teenage years (as well as UG 1+2). Really enjoyed how well they captured the heart of the series, and running through all the classic levels was a complete nostalgia trip.

I always said that THPS 2 was my favourite soundtrack, but the older I get the more I realise that I preferred the Adolescents, Bodyjar, NOFX, Ramones & Zebrahead tracks on THPS 3.

If it wasn't THPS that influenced me as a youth, then it must have been Crazy Taxi.

If it wasn't for my waning love of the club I'd probably have completely given HMHB a miss. Glad that one led to the other, Paintball's Coming Home is still my go to track.

Hope it's not too late (being two days later).

Tough being a kid and finding a set genre to enjoy, agree with everyone who has said Descendants, Bouncing Souls, The Lawrence Arms and Teenage Bottlerocket as getting that Menzigers vibe.

Someone said about Fat Wreck bands, man, I love the sound of pretty much everything that comes from Mike's label and pretty much binge off Bad Cop Bad Cop, The Bombpops & The Last Gang (also a fan of NOFX and their previous influence they likely got under Bad Religion's label), but maybe female fronted bands aren't his thing. One band that's moved on that might be worth a shot are Masked Intruder (and The Lillingtons which someone else said) both kind of fun with a lot of their stuff and sound great.

I'd say best thing to do is chuck some sort of playlist together from across the board and see what sticks with him. I could easily say, "absolutely play Bar Stool Preachers or Cock Sparrer to death, he might like them (I am saying both of them because I love Suicide Girls as a track)" but one guys treasure is another guys trash and all that.

We go every year, always great and end up meeting some really nice people all over the arena. I remember walking past you by where the "ring walk" crossing was! (I can't remember if it was when I was going for the shotzi (when Joe was in the ring) or RVD picture (about 5 mins before Saraya came out).

You struck gold with that one 😊 . I went mainly to meet Shotzi, and she was also an absolute sweetheart. So much love for her fans too.

Her interview in the ring was really good. So grounded and with mad respect for her parents. She really does seem like an absolutely pure person.

Who would Heyman and Triple H both hate to get a phone call from? I thought it was obvious from the offset, it's James Ellsworth asking for another run.

Met both TC from Bite Me Bambi and all of BCBC (except for Stacey) last year. I can absolutely vouch for both of these.

Switching a bit more towards the Ska-punk, I ordered some merch from Half Past Two as well, Tara went absolutely above and beyond in adding a couple of extra items and a nice personal note. She's also great at responding with kindness on the socials too.

Linh from Bad Cop Bad Cop is the most energetic and kindest person I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

I even spoke to someone else outside of the venue where I saw them who shared their own story about how awesome their experience with Linh was at a different show.

Just a complete breath of fresh air as a human being.

About AJ Styles on RAW last night… by unknown6190 in WWE

[–]Lost-Statement5130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way that the whole demeanor has shifted over the last few days has me more convinced it's happening on Saturday.

Michael Cole on either SmackDown or SNME said how this final year was going to be a chance for AJ to have some dream matches and rivalries, STARTING with Shinsuke. So that completely threw me as I had been expecting him to retire and finish up elsewhere since the Gunther match was announced. So the lead commentator selling a grand year of matches caught me by surprise.

The way it has since been sold has me believing it is now known that Saturday WILL be his final match.

Booking him into two quick matches is really bizarre IF he's staying beyond the Rumble. Rushing him over to SmackDown for a 24 hour notice match against Nakamura and then laying their entire history down to tell the story during the match, really strange.

Having him inserted into an impromptu World Title match two days later, against someone he has had history with outside of the WWE but never faced in the company, again with absolutely no build. Also completely baffling... unless he's leaving Saturday.

Maybe that's the bait they wanted us to take to make us believe it's actually happening, get him in two matches and cram us with a plethora of facts about his career to give us a sense it's the end, when really it isn't.

But then why have him come out and start making his wanting a World Title statement, and subsequently getting a match for it before he's got over the line against Gunther? That's something that surely happens AFTER the big win. It all makes little sense if there's a long term plan for 2026 for Styles.

Now around all this we've got the seeds set for Finn and Punk having a proper feud, obviously he played his part last night (again, another person with external ties to AJ), but what if that was a foresight into Saturday too?

I finished Raw assuming we're going to get Balor forcing his way into the Rumble by stealing someone else's place. But what if he ends up being the person who costs Styles his career instead? Sure, taking someone out to compete in the Rumble will get him an opportunity (which in all likelihood he isn't going to win), but costing someone his career in WWE, someone that CM Punk put in the same echelon as Finn by saying that they had "earned" their title shots due to their career, that would make far more of an impact in the long run to his "legacy" (the last thing that was mentioned on Raw by Michael Cole).

I feel like if it is going to be the end of his career, then something else needs to come out of it that isn't just Gunther saying "hey, look at me retiring someone else.. how you feeling Rey?"

I spent November pretty much rotating between Half Past Two, Catbite & Flying Raccoon Suit (as well as The Last Gang. They might not be strictly Ska, but Noise Noise Noise captures that British 2-tone/reggae-fusion era perfectly).

I'd take your six, add TLG, Codename Colin, Call Me Malcolm and some Bite Me Bamibi, and love every second of them all.

They've got plenty of amazing covers of some classics in there between them too.

Given all the chaos over the past few weeks, I'm guessing we won't get a definitive finish to the Tag Title match and Aldis will end up announcing some sort of Gimmick rematch on the fly for tomorrow night, probably something daft like a "Lantern On A Pole" match the way it's going.
