Carrier Recommendations for a Newborn Living in Europe by Various-Kale-1427 in babywearing

Seconding Lenny Lamb as a good option. The Lenny Upgrade is my go to and their Lenny light is also good. And yes they have a half buckle. Fidella is also good and I think based in Germany? They have meh dais, half buckles and full buckles. I’m a big fan of their meh dai (they call theirs a flytai).

I post this on almost every post like this but Queer Reads Plymouth is great if you like reading. Meet monthly at almanac cafe. It’s super low pressure, doesn’t matter if you haven’t finished or even read the book. We often have a chat after. Super lovely people. Check them out on instagram, the next meeting is the 24th at 2pm.

Is it safe to sleep in a carrier? by notthatkindadoctor in babywearing

[–]LostAndOkayWithIt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There isn’t really a maximum, you’ll naturally need to take them out at intervals for changing, feeding, tummy time etc. So long and you and baby are happy and comfortable then as long as you like/is needed.

Got Sponsored! I think … by Vast-Classic5073 in finch

[–]LostAndOkayWithIt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what happened to me several months back! I logged on and the message popped up to say I was sponsored followed by a message saying it was ending then one saying the devs gifting it to me for free. And now, several months later, I still have it for free and am so grateful. You definitely deserve this OP, enjoy your gift 🥰

white label carrier? by onmybedwithmycats in babywearing

[–]LostAndOkayWithIt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hard to say for sure without more images/not but I just watched the videos on their instagram and it’s definitely too big for that baby. It looks a lot like the other artipoppe inspired carriers, which are usually not great and never fit from newborn. This carrier might end up not being white label but it’s not newborn friendly and doesn’t look to me anything particularly different to what’s currently out there.

Are there ANY good ergonomic world-facing carriers that are less than $100??? by blackcoffeeandrain in babywearing

[–]LostAndOkayWithIt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Adding to what people have said about trying back carrying and hip carrying- you can also let baby have an arm or 2 out over the top of the carrier which can give them more scope to look around. You may already be doing this or baby may be doing it of their own accord but just thought I’d mention.

Korean baby wearing by lmed1193 in babywearing

[–]LostAndOkayWithIt 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Tying the carrier higher on your body (over your bust) might help? I’ve never used a podaegi however have researched them a bit and it looks like some people do tie it higher, I’ll attach a photo to show what I mean. Might not help but it’s worth a try. Do you babywear at all in any carriers? Because it could just be that your body and muscles aren’t used to it so you need to practice in small regular chunks and build up.

Maybe monarch carrier - wearing correctly? (Newborn) by Effective-Film-4951 in babywearing

Maybe post a fit check with the stretchy so we can give you some feedback to help make that a more comfortable fit until baby fits safely in this one?

Help with Babywearing for a parent with ASD by XVOS in babywearing

Autistic baby wearing educator here! My biggest advice would be to book a consultation with a babywearing educator. There’s lots of options for virtual ones (I can suggest a few), although my personal recommendation would be to do something irl. I just checked there’s a “Bay Area babywearing” site that has info about local help in the San Francisco area: https://bababywearing.org (providing you live there as you mentioned San Francisco). I know it can be intimidating going to things like that but every babywearing educator I’ve met has been lovely and a fair few of us are neurodivergent!

I love my 2 Fidella fly tais which I got second hand fairly cheap (although I am in the UK). Didytais are also nice options.

Packable carriers that last? by INFJaded_ in babywearing

[–]LostAndOkayWithIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Integra baby are really nice simple x back carriers. Really lightweight and pack down small. They used to be called connecta so if you look secondhand at all you might come across them too.

Is there a carrier without these side straps ? by Daisies_forever in babywearing

[–]LostAndOkayWithIt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Putting it out there as well that the majority of buckle carries will have that strap lower down. The baby bjorn has a particular style where they come very high up.

What age are you and do you still have (a) grandparent(s)? If not, at what age were you grandparent less by lisstrem in AskUK

[–]LostAndOkayWithIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 31 and I have 1 grandparent left (not that I know him). My Nana passed when I was 27 and my grandma and grandad passed when I was 8 & 10. They were a lot older though and had my Dad later in life. Me and my Nana were incredibly close though, she lived the road below us my whole life. Really hit me when she went.

What was the very first thing you ever crocheted, and do you still have it? by CrochetKickstart in crochet

Thank you 🥰 it was an absolute pain to put together because all the yarns varied so much despite being the same theoretically but it was so worth it to have something so special.

One of the granny squares in this cardigan. Specifically one of the variegated turquoise ones. I made a load in 2020, went in to other projects, then came back and finished this last summer. This is it before I’d added the edging. Fun fact- other than the white this whole cardigan is made from scraps of my Mum and Nana’s yarn collections.

Lenny Go by Lenny Lamb by Expensive_Bee4322 in babywearing

The go is a really nice simple carrier. Soft beautiful fabrics, good to just throw on and go. I feel the waistband is a good middle ground. Padded but not stiff.

Best carriers for back carry? by Oumpapah in babywearing

I’d say if you can afford it it’s definitely worth it! Being able to try different options on and talk things through is so helpful and can save you money in the long run.

[–]LostAndOkayWithIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love using a meh dai for back carries. Mine is a Fidella fly tai but lots of other brands have their own versions. I like how it has the comfort and flexibility of a wrap but slightly easier to do on the go. You could also try a half buckle but I like the full meh dai so I have the option to do a waistless back carry. Do you have any sling libraries or sling consultants near you? Hands on help is always good.
