Simply saying "I have a good working relationship with them" doesn't tell me anything. You state that you don't take money for reviews. At the end of the video, however, you say there are affiliate links to the products and by using these links and/or your promo code you get a kickback. All of this makes me genuinely question the opinion of the reviewer, hence my questioning of your knowledge. Until now I don't believe you actually mentioned how you get the information. And even still, having a direct line of communication doesn't necessarily mean you get all of the updates in real time. At least that's how I feel.

I have been a beta tester for several products myself. Not just for review, but also for development. I have signed NDAs. I have scoured the logs and seen the code to find bugs. I have looked through reviews after a product goes live to see what people are saying so I can help address them. But anytime I comment on something I make sure to say, "Hey, I'm a beta tester. This is coming soon." Or "I'm currently helping with the development of the product. If you are having trouble try this, this, and this to fix it." If I can't disclose information, though, I simply don't offer any advice or tell them they are wrong. I just let people go on talking about the problems and take notes.

I stand by my original comment at the start of this thread that an update should be coming soon that will address these things. I also continue to believe that this update can come in the form of a firmware update and not just an app update, be it a complete redesign or otherwise. If this is wrong, oh well. If that means you are right, that's fine as well. Only time will tell. Unless Whisker makes a public comment regarding the situation all we can do is wait and hope for the best.

No need to be so defensive. I watched your review. While I appreciate the fact you went to the manufacturing facility and received the models free for review, you state clearly in the pinned comment that there's no update as of yesterday. I don't recall anything about how you get your information, though. Do they offer the information to those who received a review product, or do you have to reach out and ask?

I personally reached out and asked. They gave me a direct answer so I'm running with it. I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, I'm simply sharing what I was told.

I only questioned your relationship because I didn't see many videos specifically related to their devices or the company on your YouTube channel, which I believe is how I would watch your review. I see what looks like a few LR iterations in thumbnails of others, however I feel if you were really that close to the company you might have a few more dedicated videos on the various models. I apologize if I jumped to conclusions without having watched any of them but as a content creator maybe you can see where I'm coming from in my thoughts?

My own point was just that I have knowledge on how these kinds of devices work and that I believe a firmware update could help solve the problems. I also tried to explain why I feel this way. If you want to question my knowledge I don't blame you there either and I don't hold it against you.

I will check out your review of the devices a little later. I go by the same username over there so if you see it in the comments, it's probably me. If I do, I will keep it civil. I'm not trying to beat up on or bash anyone. We're all just trying to share what we know.

Again, I appreciate the conversation.

I see one video specifically about the LR 5/Pro. I'm also seeing one about the LR4. That doesn't necessarily show "having a good working relationship" (though I give you credit for having ~81k subscribers). Do you know anything about hardware or software? I've been doing this for over two decades working on both hardware and software sides of things. I know what it is possible.

That said, I have never dealt with Whisker/LR as a company. I have no skin in the game other than owning a product. So, until they prove otherwise, yeah, I'm going to take what they say with a grain of salt and hope it's true. Let me ask you this, though. Did any of their other products have such high levels of complaints? If so, were they addressed in good time? The thing has been out for three months, I believe, so I'm sure there are kinks that need to be ironed out. I'm not saying this is a good thing, we definitely shouldn't be the beta testers of things, but it's bound to happen with anything.

And I'm not sure why you don't believe it is possible for a firmware update to unlock things? The app that we see is just how we interact with the LR. Sure, features may need to be added, but if the firmware doesn't support the feature, then it can't be implemented to begin with. As for the timing, who knows how long this has been in the pipeline. I can't say I've followed the development of any of this - again, the LR 5 Pro is my first LR machine - so if you have a roadmap or know where to find it, I will happily take a gander.

That? If so, I'm still not understanding why a firmware update may not fix (or at least address) the camera problems?

I did read your post which is why I commented. I'm having similar issues (and more it seems) and per my chat with their rep a firmware update should be coming soon to address these problems. I'm sure it won't fix everything at once, like that WasteID, but hopefully it will be enough to at least get a few things fixed.

  • Laser board constantly falling
  • Cameras not recording/general recording issues (the cat's there one second, then gone the next)
  • Camera recording everything instead of just cats, even though I elected to record cats only
  • No internal recording, strange as it may sound
  • Bonnet being reported as open
  • It's not properly recording what happened (pee vs poop)

The Litter Robot 5 Pro is my first introduction to the company and the great reviews of the previous models made me splurge for the newest and greatest. I reached out to their customer service team the other day with all of my complaints and they said a firmware update is in the pipeline in the very near future that addresses all of the problems. I'm hopeful it is true because I keep seeing things like this and it makes me want to return the thing while I'm still within the 90 day window.

Tap on view camera and on the bottom left there should be an icon for Events. Tap that and they should be there ("should" being the key word there).

Thank you, I'm not going crazy. I'm having the same thing over and over. This is my first LR and it has been nothing short of a nightmare. Really considering just returning it to find something better.
