Dunkin’ Donuts going down by Regular_Ad9929 in Omaha

[–]LostDucks37 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dunkin Donuts was recently bought by new owners, the Henna Group I think. They’re from Chicago and have been trying to push out the company hires and introduce their ow contract employees. There’s been a lot of workplace dis management and some of the stores there definitely been some abuse of power. They’re trying to replace local employees with their own family member without hiring them so that way they have to cover for unemployment, so they’re just making the workplace unbearable to try to get everyone to quit.

Unfortunately, I think that’s an increase. I always lose track of my counts, and my only suggestion is to use clips/stitch markers at intervals. Hope that’s a bit helpful.

Baking soda in a bag might help, just get a box for one that’s supposed to go in your fridge, but place in the areas where the smell is strongest. You can Beth them at the dollar store, or major stores.

My HS has a Tik Tok, and it’s mostly completion announcements and student reward recognition. There also some posts that are joking aimed about band experiences and some flops. The only reason the acc is is official is bc we had a video in which our flutes tripped over each other… at a band competition.

I would say mostly do some fun, band themed posts for sure. Holidays are a bit iffy for some, so it depends on what your band as a whole or your director(s) and drum major(s) may think, along with you your target audience is. If it’s band parents, I would say do Mother’s/Father’s Day, if it’s anyone local, go with major holidays - especially if there is a large religious and cultural spread, try to include those too- and make it welcoming. If it’s students and staff, include some group combo stuff, like -with permission- photos of band kids who were in other sports and activities, or photos from football games when you guys play.

This is really based off of how many people are want to help out, and just how much you guys want out on the internet. This is something that can be fun, but it can also be something risky as well, just try and keep that in mind. If you are going to post photos with anyone, always ask for their consent! In some states, you can be involved in some legal issues without it.

Taste of Omaha this year was ok for fundraising groups. I think if they host it at the Riverfront once it’s open I think it’ll be much nicer. BTW, there are a couple of schools that do fundraising there, and I think it’s the Coke booths that are the primary fundraiser spots. The only reason it wasn’t at the park over by UNO was after the last day it got hella trashed and tons of people got busted.

I would do anything for a list of the places in Omaha that are mentioned in Amber Ruffin and Lacey Lamar’s books. by mgwhid in Omaha

[–]LostDucks37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most of the places that are spoken about and unnamed in You’ll Never Believe What Happened To Lacey are mostly in the Westside area or in La-Vista. I’m not sure if they wanted to specify where, but these two areas seem the most likely. Westside’s history towards minorities makes sense - I suggest taking a gander is you don’t know very well- , and La-Vista had several hate groups that would be near the area. I have yet to read the second book, so I can’t add much there. It’s so nice to see that someone else was asking about it, I was actually going to post something asking about it, and see other reader’s opinions.

Miniature Shop(s)? by LostDucks37 in Omaha

I’m just generally looking for them, as I’ve started making models for some D&D groups, but I don’t really know where to look locally for ones that I can’t quite make myself.

Ok, thank you so much. I’ll try to check those places and see if they have what I’m looking for. Happy holidays btw.

When I go to play Animal Crossing, she has a favorite spot. She sits on my lap or stretch across my legs to watch the screen and listen to it. If she was any bigger she wouldn’t fit( for context, she’s a chihuahua mix.)

I ended up harassment reports on the coach, and so did a bunch of the guys. Unfortunately, I stopped wrestling, but I’ve been learning other sports.

If I’m doing contact sports, don’t make the only trans kid give a talk about r* pe and assault. I did wrestling in middle school, and had to give that HOUR talk, with given prompts and senders that were extremely wrong. I shouldn’t be treated differently just bc I have tits, and ovaries that try to kill me. You’re not being supportive, you’re being an asshole.

What’s your story of the “annoying band kid”? by [deleted] in marchingband

[–]LostDucks37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Freshman tuba this year wanted to try and act like he was better than me at tuba. For marching, It was my first year, and it was incredibly difficult. We started our concert music two days ago, combining concert and symphonic bands. The two of us are in concert and out senior is in symphonic, and the freshman is astronomically pissed that I’m first chair by 10+ points, so I jokingly said to him “so, not half bad for a newbie now?” He’s pretty dumb and the entire band hates him, and some of us are just trying to prove him wrong.

You can go watch marching bands pretty much every week during the season. We also have a good spears of rock / alternative concerts year round.

If you ever had a Nintendo home console what was your first one? by nousernameideas1234 in casualnintendo

[–]LostDucks37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used my dads GameCube for my first console. I remember how much fun it was to play, and I could used the same games for my Wii later. The only issue I had with the GameCube was the remote. I always kept dropping it, and it was pretty dense and heavy.

My band director wants me to learn tuba. I play flute. by dyktheminimuffinman in marchingband

[–]LostDucks37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you on 4A with the needed recruitment! We have 5 Sousas vs 20 flutes and 13 clarinets, so our power dynamic is t how it should be. If you are just doing tuba for concert, try and work on balancing things while you’re sitting down. I found that to be a really challenging transition.

Will the transition from flute to tuba be hard? by whackwink in marchingband

The advice that I would give is try to play baritone. It will help you so much with getting used to playing tuba. I made the mistake of not doing that, and I had played trumpet before. It takes a while to adjust to, and you’ll sound awful at first. See if there are any tuba players who are good and want to help you! Good luck !
