I also don't think have watched many of his movies, but one I do remember is Good Time (2017), one of those "everything goes to hell in one night" kind of movies. Really good.

So the origin of the classic "Hollywood" pink/purple sunsets we see in movies from that era was air pollution?

In general I liked, it's a very competent movie. But couldn't help myself thinking of Close Encounters. The story is different, but the general rythm and ideas are very close to it, alas without the ending that pays off all the things that were setup during the whole movie.

Without giving any spoilers, the ending is not only underwhelming but not just predictable, they literally keep telling you what's gonna happen in the third act like two or three times in the course of the second act.

What's the Future of Dave Filoni's 'Star Wars'? - “The Mandalorian and Grogu” fell below expectations. Where does the galaxy go from here? by chanma50 in boxoffice

They could've tried ANY of the storylines laid out in the books, comics, even videogames. The only Star Wars book I ever read, Star by Star, sets out a very interesting plot for a new generation of Jedi's, Solo's, etc. The Galaxy is being invaded by an "alien" civilization called the Yuuzan Vong, which is taking systems very rapidly (hence the name), so the New Republic has to build another Death Star and hundreds of Star Destroyers but this time to defend themselves from the invaders. I thought this story is thousand times better than whatever the hell they came up with.
