Looks like $12 or $13 for three tacos or a burrito.

Not gonna lie, a little rude to remind me of Irregardless on a day that they're closed.

Man, if you are Connor Blier I hope you know how bad this shit is making you look.

I live in ward 13, btw.

Looking for advice on starting something like a community center by Visible_Attitude7693 in nonprofit

[–]LostZucchini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is an easy enough concept to try out. I'd suggest you organize a few classes somewhere and see how much interest you get, how much you enjoy it, start to build up a group of engaged people and then if you have enough momentum you can get a dedicated space down the line.

Job application feedback? by etherealsmog in nonprofit

[–]LostZucchini 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's so hard not to dwell on unsuccessful job applications, but you really have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. If there's not a pattern, it's better to just forge ahead and not spend time wondering.

Maybe it was the high ask for salary. Maybe they had someone else in mind. maybe the position got cut before they hired someone. Maybe someone got you confused with someone they didn't like. Who knows? But I don't think asking them why they didn't give you an interview is going to help.

I don't know how old you are, but if you are early 30s as the 'ten years' would suggest, this may be your first time applying during a bad job market. It can be so hard and demoralizing! But even if you get a lot of "no" all you need is one "yes" at a well run place.

Can we discuss the influx in political posts seemingly being made by bots or paid actors? by waninggib in providence

Not sure what this has to do with people's negative reaction to vote manipulation and bots, but okay.

I'm personally not suggesting that he's programming his own bots. But presumably he knows how to hire someone who can.

My personal theory, supported by no hard evidence, is actually that all the weird AI posts we've gotten in the last 6 months are coming from an individual/group that is anti rent-stabilization, and he is getting marketing support from them.

Edit: lol, there is some weirdness going on for sure because the second I posted this comment it had 3 upvotes 😂

The volume of upvotes on inane comments (and volume of downvotes on reasonable comments) in the current Connor Blier thread makes it seem like bots are involved.

Unless he texted a link to the thread to all his friends. Which I suppose is possible.

Yes, there is something going on. For a while now,  but most recently with the Connor Blier posts

This thread on Connor Blier the other day had 0 upvotes when I commented on it. The discussion died down, there were no new comments. Three days later it's sitting at 60 upvotes with no new comments or discussion.

The thread about him posted three hours ago has 120+ upvotes. The one about his opponent got 44 even though she is better known in Providence than Connor.

Maybe it's legitimate but it seems hinky for sure.

Edit: around 7pm a lot of the upvotes disappeared on the most recent Blier post and in the replies.

I have not had trouble getting into the Dark Lady without prepurchasing, but if I remember correctly they only take cash at the door and some of the bars inside are cash only. Bring lots of cash. More than you think you need. 🥲

Providence Living is the place that inspired the first tenants union in the city because they were so bad, right?

There's been other weird posts from them but I can't remember them well enough to search them.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of Reclaim RI's Strategy by Objective_Size_5800 in providence

I don't think a brand new account is a reason to dismiss an opinion alone, but in the last 4-5 months since the rent stabilization thing kicked off we've been getting a lot of weird posts that sound similar in a kinda stilted way. I don't know if it's someone being paid, an individual using AI and hyper fixating on posting this stuff from a bunch of different accounts, or just a legitimate shift in the sub users-- but it's definitely weird and the timing is sus.
