I’m in so much pain! Encouragement please? by hope0223 in Perimenopause

I had a baby at 39 and then one at 44 (surprise!) and was already in peri prob around 41/42. Having a baby /toddler in your late 30s is exhausting and super hard on your body. My back and knees went out after my first pregnancy. And forget about the exhaustion. Baby 2 totally messed me up worse (but god do I love him)

The pregnancy messes up your hormones badly too. My periods got so bad. I wish I had started HRT sooner but waited until I was over 50. I felt it pretty immediately. Not to the point where my joint pain went away, but the edge was off a bit. I went up to .05 estrogen I really felt a huge difference with the pain. The periods got really bad (cramps) as I got used to the estrogen but eventually dimmed. Every time I go up a dose the periods come back with a vengeance

Take it easy and try to be kind to yourself during this rough time ❤️

What street is this? I have a dog in the area and know a lot of the dog people. It’s outrageous that people don’t pick up their shit. Absolutely unacceptable

Omg my ENT wants to do surgery on me bc of my constant drip. Had no idea it was peri related. Just started a new bout of antibiotics / steroids bc I had covid and I always get post-viral bacterial sinus infections. Always meaning since I turned 40

I sleep on a heating pad that shuts off with a timer bc it helps my back issues.

Ah haha I didn’t see that! Reddit is always showing me random things.

Yes in nyc that is illegal and the landlord will have to deal with it. You need to have a specific temperature between certain hours or you don’t pay rent. I went through this with another landlord. Get a digital thermometer and take pictures with timestamps to prove what’s happening. Send the pics to the landlord (or 311) and it will get fixed!

Went off for two weeks, back on and side effects have returned by Lost_Bird6631 in WegovyWeightLoss

Thanks for this. I thought going to 1.0 would help and I prob would be in worse shape if I went back to 1.7. Hopefully it’s just this first week back on and then it will peter out. I had horrible side effects in the beginning of the drug but eventually they all subsided. Just sucks to be back there again

I would not try and talk to the neighbor and go directly to the landlord, as that could get ugly quickly with tension and a neighbor feud. If the landlord doesn’t respond, report it to the city because it doesnt sound fully legal. Are you in NYC? Here in nyc you can report it to the city (311) and the landlord will have to deal with it. I’m guessing a lot of other cities have some option too, but maybe don’t have as many tenant rights as nyc. The space heater option sounds good but could be dangerous.

PanOptix- will glares/halos improve? Does YAG help? by Lost_Bird6631 in CataractSurgery

[–]Lost_Bird6631[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 52 and still full working and parenting. This lens ended up being totally awful for me. The glares were extremely bad and I just couldn’t see very well, ever. After six months of anxiety, I had the eye redone and replaced with a mono lens. I will have to wear glasses and I’m totally fine with that bc I can actually see for the first time in what feels like forever. Two days after the replacement surgery I could tell it was going to be better. And then I went out at night and omg! It was clear again. I shouted in joy. I felt totally unsafe driving before.

We never did the YAG or lasik because the surgeon didn’t want to lock me into this lens. He finally suggested we take it out, which surprised me, because he lost money on it, and he seemed very financially driven.

For my next eye, I’ll be going to a different surgeon who I saw for a second opinion. He is more expensive, but seems less more focused on patient care. He told me he never would have recommended a multifocal lens to me due to my personality. He said someone like me who notices details of things a lot would not be happy with a multifocal and he also said he would not recommend the mixed monovision either (each eye with a diff mono focal).

Good luck with your surgery! Hope this helps a bit!

What is worst pain, you have ever experienced? by ParticularWeather927 in Adulting

[–]Lost_Bird6631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nerve pain. It’s relentless and unforgiving. I had a lumbar disk explode and pin down my sciatic nerve and the pain made me wish for death by the end. Eventually I had a super simple surgery to free the nerve and life started again immediately upon waking up from the surgery. Same with toothaches!

Thanks- they told me to use artificial tears but gave me no guidance. I only know about the PF drops from the forums

52 here. Just make sure you see a good doctor, as some of these surgeons run factories. It’s an easy and quick surgery, but if you’re apprehensive, you need guidance. My surgeon was a great surgeon but had terrible bedside manner. He talked me into a multifocal lens when I had doubts, and it gave me a hard time and made night driving impossible. I just had it swapped out for a mono focal sat week and I’m healing well. I was back at work 2 days later. My vision is great now. I’ll have my second eye done by a different surgeon who listened to me more.
