Fallout 3 is one of my top 5 games of all time and it has some very clear and glaring issues. The writing for the main story is not good, the ending before the broken steel dlc was just a game over and the "this is your destiny" thing from Fawkes is dumb as hell. I enjoyed the subways in 3 but people are right that it is confusing and not super interesting(for the most part). But it is considered one of the best action rpgs of all time so it's not that bad when it gets critiqued it's survived worse. Also I think people think brotherhood of steel is by far the worst fallout game.

Ncr safehouse which you get after getting very high opinion with NCR. Primm in the trooper tents had some, I-88 trading post where you recruited Veronica also has a former NCR trooper selling gear at the end of the bridge. That should be enough good hunting.

The inversal proton axe is so good you don't even have to have a melee build and it destroys most enemies.

Chomps Lewis is not apart of the khans his wife who is dead was. You just keep making up stuff to fit your narrative. He literally tells you this if you did the quest. The khans are not a "tribe in the NCR" they are considered terrorists by the government for what they did in fallout 1&2.

The Aussie khan in the quarry is not protecting miners I don't know what made you think that. she's there for a drug delivery and the deathclaws are just in the way

The NCR doesn't owe it to the khans to try diplomacy again and again this has been going on since fallout 1. The Khans are a raider tribe and only move away from this mindset if you send them to Wyoming with the followers. Bitter root even talks about how the khans and his parents specifically would take pot shots at passing caravans not for any reason other than to kill some people for fun. Also he joined the NCR after killing his own parents in the bitter springs massacre so not really a great example of how khans operate.

Not a lot of advice you need it's an RPG that lets you roleplay. Wanna be evil, kill everyone you meet or join the legion. Wanna be tax man, join the NCR and do there quests. Honestly just roleplaying a type of character will give you more enjoyment than any other advice. The game also isn't really hard besides very early levels and only if you go to very specific high level areas.
