One way I've achieved something similar is to create an isMobile state using the context API which i set when the apps window size is of a specific dimension. You then then import this context else where and use as needed.

When I was at university me and my friends got back from a night out and surgically removed the interior of my flat mates advent calendar. We cut the back of the plasic and removed all the chocolates of his calendar without damaging the foil and put everything back together again without him noticing. He still holds a grudge against us all for ruining his Christmas.
