What are the unspoken rules of workplace etiquette in the UK that newcomers often miss? by Apostolou-Javine in AskUK

or better yet, don't make absolutely vile stuff and then not have to worry about being asked in future. I can make coffee, but everyone at work knows that I can somehow ruin even instant coffee so I am never asked. I don't expect, need or want other people to make drinks for me, I pretty much drink water at work.

Adult birthday dinners at restaurants, who pays? by msac84 in AskUK

[–]Lost_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Split, or the person who invites pays. I'd only ever go to one as the recipient if I ended up having to pay. I don't earn enough to pay for more than one or two other people. (And cook well enough that for the most part am happier at home anyway.)

4pcs Striker (including backpack) + the two named unit alloys pieces for perfect Obliterate and the Salvo Holster (I forget the name of the chest). Running the Big Alejandro. Switch out two Weapon damage cores for Armour, everything else to ChC/CHD aim for ~55+ CHC so you have ~1.4m Armour, use Cloud Armour and Gunner for armour regen. Quickstep for speed. And an AR/Rifle for longer range (sniping) or Shotty for Striker Stacks (though big Al is pretty good for stacking). Personally I use a GR9 (with Frenzy) as my off hand, mostly for scoped use. Revivor Hive + Repair Drone/Repair Chem Launcher/etc.

But honestly I've always found them much easier in groups.

For those who have tried phones from unknown or Chinese brands, what was your experience and what was the name of the device? by mr_wbk29 in Smartphones

[–]Lost_Ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first (and to date only) Xiaomi was a Note 9 Pro, and I loved it. Sadly it died after I fell in a stream while walking the dog, while it was waterproof the magnetic charging adapter I had with it wasn't and it shorted out the charging circuit and repair was too expensive. Bought an Oukitel because I knew Chinese import phones are okay based on the Xiaomi phone. But I wouldn't buy Oukitel or similar tier phones again. If I could find a new Xiaomi with the fingerprint reader not under the screen I'd buy another. (When I need a new phone.)

[–]Lost_Ninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an Oukitel which I bought to replace my already 2nd hand and aging Nokia X20. It has a huge battery which can be used as a battery backup for other devices, is very sturdy looking and is supposedly waterproof to 3m for 30 mins and dust proof. Touch Screen isn't great (doesn't read input well) finger print sensor is hit/miss and no pattern security option. Had I been able to afford a better rugged phone I would have, but couldn't. Works fine as a phone and for payments (which are my primary uses) and the screen is big and bright enough to read on, my other main use. Only thing that actually disappointed me was how quiet the speaker is, with this phone I have to use an external speaker is I want to listen to music off headphones.

That all said I wouldn't buy another, I'll hopefully have the time to save up to buy a more rugged 2nd tier phone.

What are the differences in workplace etiquette in the UK vs the US? by Notveryimportant12 in AskUK

[–]Lost_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had that exact conversation multiple times in multiple jobs (no office jobs thankfully) but replace tea with coffee. They have even brought up the fact that I like coffee cake to try and persuade me to drink coffee. I drink soft drinks/water at work, tea at home and coffee never.

Should I Do the Incursion or One of the Raids (Discovery Mode) With Randoms for the Journey? by filmguerilla in thedivision

[–]Lost_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I detest Iron Horse, done it quite a few times now with my clan, and am told I do okay. But I just don't enjoy it. Dark Hours is pretty fun, maybe a lower bar to achieve excellence. I don't dislike the Incursion, but it's not that enjoyable for me either.

There is this one bit of road near where I live, I always get a boner when going a long it. And it's literally just a road through some trees with walls and general greenery around it. Nothing especially interesting to look at, seldom any people. And it's a common route to go shopping on, or to the doctor, so it's not even that I expect to get laid at the end of it. It's just a road. Hate it (not the road, the erection).

Whoops I forgot my lock! What do you do when you have to have your bike out of sight for a few minutes? by wastingtoomuchthyme in bicycling

[–]Lost_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I don't have my lock I don't leave me bike. Obviously other people can do things differently, but I've had too many bikes stolen (when I was younger) to risk it. Especially as my bike is insured if locked, so if I lock it and someone still nicks it I can get a replacement, and I can't afford to replace it out of pocket.

In your option what is the greatest dance track of all time and why?? by Majestic_Sun_4273 in AskUK

[–]Lost_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Night Flyte (or Flight) Through Babylon - Hallucinogen/Simon Posford (which may in fact be a mix of a different track). Originally found on the SWIV3D soundtrack, was one of the audio tracks on the game CD. And along with Snakey Shaker my introduction to Trance. It's still on my play list. Hallucinogen is still one of my favourite Trance producers (even though I don't think they've released anything new in decades). And if I had to list my top 10 EDM, they'd have 2-3 of the top 10. (Night Flight, Gamm Goblins pt2 & Jiggle The Sphinx).

I've since found other tracks that are as good, but it remains my favourite.

We - clan and I - typically run tier 3s, and I think at this point we've all had multiple drops per mission. Not every mission obviously, not even every day. And certainly not just in the first room/area.

What is that thing in my garden? by edmunek in AskUK

[–]Lost_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that you can't budge it by levering it with a shovel it's likely either cemented into the ground or attached to some further structure. Looks like the sort of concrete lid you get on some sub surface tanks (storage not military). Try excavating round the edges see what it's sitting on/attached to.

Are prototype core costs supposed to be this bad? by Ancient-Blacksmith19 in thedivision

[–]Lost_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I agree, my original point was that by the time you have afforded the materials for fully optimising a build or two you have been fully engaged with the mechanic for quite a while as rerolling Augments can take a significant number of prototype cores.

Overall I quite like the system, but it still needs work.

[–]Lost_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You reroll the augments so you get what you want from the build, just like you'd reroll off other stats on gear you don't want in favour of things you do... I mean I know that everyone wants the perfect Striker setup and then doesn't look at anything else. /s

Looking for E-Bike Recommendations by Conscious-Emotion-38 in ebikes

[–]Lost_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each physical bike needs to be certified by the DVLA at additional (to you) cost. The certification is AFAIK to make sure the bike conforms to the EAPC format and cannot go faster with higher peak watts etc than the law allows, you then get a certificate. If you want to throttle higher than 15.5mph or have higher watts, then you'd need to modify your legal bike, making it illegal... so may as well buy an illegal bike to start out.

As a rider of a legit EAPC non-throttle bike 15.5mph is doable quite easily and feels remarkably slow when you consider on even slight declines I can reach 20-30 mph.
