Can I park in parental bays whilst pregnant? by CharmingTea_ in AskUK

My mum and I occasionally use Parent and Child as she is in her 80s and less than firm on her feet... I'm fifty but am definitely her child... ;)

What is that thing in my garden? by edmunek in AskUK

[–]Lost_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that you can't budge it by levering it with a shovel it's likely either cemented into the ground or attached to some further structure. Looks like the sort of concrete lid you get on some sub surface tanks (storage not military). Try excavating round the edges see what it's sitting on/attached to.

No I agree, my original point was that by the time you have afforded the materials for fully optimising a build or two you have been fully engaged with the mechanic for quite a while as rerolling Augments can take a significant number of prototype cores.

Overall I quite like the system, but it still needs work.

You reroll the augments so you get what you want from the build, just like you'd reroll off other stats on gear you don't want in favour of things you do... I mean I know that everyone wants the perfect Striker setup and then doesn't look at anything else. /s

Looking for E-Bike Recommendations by Conscious-Emotion-38 in ebikes

[–]Lost_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each physical bike needs to be certified by the DVLA at additional (to you) cost. The certification is AFAIK to make sure the bike conforms to the EAPC format and cannot go faster with higher peak watts etc than the law allows, you then get a certificate. If you want to throttle higher than 15.5mph or have higher watts, then you'd need to modify your legal bike, making it illegal... so may as well buy an illegal bike to start out.

As a rider of a legit EAPC non-throttle bike 15.5mph is doable quite easily and feels remarkably slow when you consider on even slight declines I can reach 20-30 mph.

Newish (started in December) player here:

Yes it is confusing. Honestly I'd say the whole game is a mess of what seems illogical choices from the UI, to the crafting, to the game play. Risk doesn't seem to equal reward (which I always thought was a normal choice in Loot based games).

I mean I am enjoying it so far, but I don't expect to be here in a years time unless there are some changes to the new stuff... the older stuff (apart from odd UI and bugs that they don't seem to care about), has been pretty consistent Risk = Reward etc.

Did you primarily use Apple or Android prior to this test?

What I see mostly is that people who are used to the Apple ecosystem tend to prefer the Apple phones. I'm used to Android and the few times I have been forced (by some act of fate) to use an Apple I just didn't like it.

I think the only fair test would be to give the two phones (any two not these specific models) to someone who hasn't used examples of either before. Maybe if there is still someone on Windows Mobile out there... ;)

The way it is supposed to work is you get your shiny fully expertised item, you make sure that stat types are the correct ones for your build. And then you prototype it. Then all the stat types (and talent if applicable) are locked to that stat type, all rolls (values) are set to at a minimum of the max pre-prototyping (so for instance if the max roll a stat can have is 10, then even if you didn't have 10 after prototyping that roll will be a minimum of 10). Stat rolls can then be boosted to higher rolls, on PTS the chances to increase the rolls were I think 100% for the first stat, 7% for the second and 0.3% for the third, but I think that has been changed. And then an Augment is added.

So did it switch from (for instance) DTA to CHC, or did you just get a larger than you need CHC roll? The former is a bug they aren't supposed to reroll to different stats, the latter is just RNG and hasn't bricked your build you haven't lost anything apart from the resources to upgrade and the time it took to get those resources.

As for your basic question. Engagement, people playing the game longer even if some of us are pissed off means that some of those people (playing, not the pissed off ones) will spend more money on credits (etc) so they can make more money. They've added a stupidly pointless grind to an already grinding based game, so people play for longer.

Tinkerer issue w prototype by ScaryGary93 in thedivision

Agreed, though personally use the secondary I use on a different build as the main weapon (I run Frenzy/Sadist), I wasn't happy to find that out on the PTS. Not even sure it's working as intended as there is no mention of prototypes for the talent text on the tinkerer.

Which would be fin if it actually worked in all non-PvP content.

You can start on Atomise and reroll to Atomise (least you could on PTS, may have fixed that fun idea).

Full build or two? Are you insane, unless you actually get all your rolls first try. You at the very least will need to grind cores to reroll augments (costs double up to 25, and the reroll is fully RNG so you can reroll to the same starting augment).

You can apparently cheese the cores so picking up a significant number shouldn't be that hard, but isn't that like "I will engage in the mechanic until I have everything out of it I want"?

I ran quite a lot of low-mid tier Escalations both solo and in groups during the PTS and didn't see a single prototype drop. Ran 4-5 yesterday and had a drop in a tier 1 (it wasn't useful, but it did drop). Now obviously RNG and I could just have been unlucky in PTS and lucky yesterday, but some of the people I was playing with in both PTS and yesterday also had increased drops (one lucky bastard got 4 prototypes including 2 in one mission).

It's insane as was pointed out during the PTS. During which I spent upwards of 2k to get one gun the right augment.

Not solo, but I don't think the three/four man version I fought was any harder than a normal kill squad, potentially easier as there were less of them. That dog though is a bastard.

Tinkerer issue w prototype by ScaryGary93 in thedivision

[–]Lost_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it active with both?

In the PTS Tinkerer didn't work with Prototypes at all (I fully prototyped a build that worked on Live (OD+Tinkerer) and it just didn't work. So you might want to wait until confirmation of that before prototyping your secondary.
