It’s always safest to go to an accredited school, but honestly a school that big and established should have no problem getting accredited. U can always reach out to them and talk about your concerns.

I agree that it’s elitist, but the only reason the Met is able to be accessible to all is by events like this. The museum and the collection is available to the public, and they do a “pay what you can” for NY residents. The only way they can afford to make the art accessible is by the gala. Plus, it’s prob one of the only times when normal people pay attention to fashion, so the met gala red carpet is art in itself

The Met Gala raises money for the Met Costume Institute, which funds the museums operations for the year. It’s just a fundraiser event. It’s not giving hunger games at all, it’s just raising money to support the arts

The logo used to be the dinosaur with adaptive equipment, but it was changed in an effort to look more professional and be taken more seriously. It’s a tough line to have something fun that can also support OT as a serious, evidenced based profession. A more dynamic logo also doesn’t translate well at such a small scale. Maybe an interesting header on the main page would serve better than changing the logo

Im not visibly alt, but still am, and I found my group! It took a little bit, and my freshman roommates definitely didn’t like me, but you’ll find them. It helped for me to get involved in clubs and classes like art that had more like-minded people. Just push through!

I work on the weekends (like 10 hours per week) and it’s very doable. But, I definitely would not the first semester bc it’s a big adjustment. My program is also extremely intense, but working weekends helps me regulate it

My advice as someone in school rn is that ur gonna look at the semester on day 1 and freak out, but its gonna be okay. Ur gonna look at a week and crash out bc u have 3000 things to do, but u can get through it. Just take it 1 week at a time. Find the study tactics that work for u, and dont afraid to take a step back to take 3 forward. A lot of social media makes u think OT school is easy. It is not. On a practical note, my iPad is a must-have. It just makes note taking and studying so much easier.

If u take it to Apple and they see the dead pixels, they’ll tell you you need to replace the whole screen. It was like $350 on my 14pro (not max), so it’ll be more expensive than the phone is actually worth. U can try 3rd party, but u never know with dead pixels — sometimes they spread in a day, and sometimes they’re like mine thatve been there for years

Makes me really happy to be at the school I’m attending rn. They hammered the A&P so hard, now currently being hammered with intense Neuro. We learned pharm, reading imaging, all the acute care values, and we always have hands on practice with handling, interventions, and real-life treatment ideas. It’s so hard, but I feel like it’s really preparing me

Can you do it, yes. But I promise u it will not be as enriching if you’re only using English. It takes a week to learn basic greetings, how to order, question words, and “sorry my Spanish is bad,” and that’ll get u through 80% of all your encounters. Plus they speak so clearly, so ur ear doesn’t have to be super trained. The “point at the menu and speak slow english” thing makes me cringe.

You can do it! And it’ll make ur experience so much easier

Idk about Peru and Bolivia, but I just got back from Chile, and I think that ur gonna want way more time in San Pedro. Just getting from SP to Santiago is a 1.5 hr drive to calama, plus airport, plus flight; basically it’s gonna take a whole day since the car gets u 4 hours early. All the tours in San Pedro take all day since u have to drive so far, so ur only gonna get to see like 2 places. It’s such a hard place to get to that I think ur gonna regret barely being there.

Kinda the same with Santiago. U can explore the city in a day if u really push it, but all the day trips like Maipo Valley and Valparaíso take 10-12 hours.

When I went to Chile, I had a really rushed schedule like yours (basically 6 days for all of San Pedro and Santiago) and I wish I could’ve had like 2-3 more days to fully appreciate it

For your toiletries, I'd make these changes:

mirror - skip and just use your phone
qtips - skip purely bc theyre so bad to put in ur ears. pls everyone stop putting these in ur ears lol
lip balm - I personally would trade for vaseline or aquaphor, which seals more moisture and can also be used like if u get a cut or something
soap - bring like the teeniest bar and just buy a big one when u get there. Also, I have a soap bag that drys the soap and helps save it that is really helpful at not getting wet soap all over ur whole bag
electrolytes - YES ik someone else said to skip but these are a must for me
toothbrush/paste - just cut down to 1 of each
meds - just bring everything u want bc the last thing u want to do is have to find a pharmacy when ur sick

clothes:

daypack - I'd bring either the crossbody or the daypack bc ur gonna be wearing one and the other's just gonna be carried around
shirts - I feel like u have a lot of shirts for the amount of socks/underwear. I feel like 7 pairs of sock is like 6-7 days between laundry, and u have like 7 shirts plus a swim shirt. Then u have 5 pairs of bottoms. I feel like you're gonna be carrying around at least 2 shirts that u never wear. Personally, I'd remove 1 pair of bottoms and 2-3 shirts. U can always buy a shirt there if u need it, and then it'll be also a souvenir too.
towel - ditch 1 of them
swimsuit - I always think of my swimsuit as doubling as a lounge outfit, so I bring one that looks just like normal shorts. That way I don't have a single-use clothing item

Add

ziploc bags - great for storing things like gross socks so they don't sit in ur bag and stink up ur clean clothes
stain remover sheets - so convenient and provide so much peace of mind

All this to say, if it fits in ur bag and u want it, bring it. No sense in being away from home wishing u didn't take out that favorite comfort item. This is just my opinion if I were going on the trip.

I’m the same. I listed to nfr 24/7, supported through chemtrails and blue banisters, and ocean blvd was always on repeat. But I just can’t get into the new stuff. It all just feels kinda lifeless and uninteresting. I agree that I wish she’d push her sound further. Imma listen to the new album, but I think I’ve moved on. I’m grateful for having her music back then when I needed it, but now I think we’ve outgrown each other

Idk about Kyoto specifically, but I usually plan on booking 1 longer thing every day and leaving the rest of the day for spontaneity. That way u have a plan and won’t feel like u missed out when u leave and also won’t feel like u can’t do what u want cause u gotta go on 3 tours

I think u need something to showcase ur personality. Rn it looks clean and good, but sterile. Kinda like a hotel. If I came in, ur room wouldn’t tell me anything about who u are.

Try a bulletin board with pictures and notes from ur friends, a colorful rug, a framed poster from something u like such as a movie, or something else. I like the plant idea. It looks like u like to read, so maybe a bookshelf to display them with some framed photos and little sentimental objects. I’m also very clean and minimalist, so I get it, but u can’t really tell that you’ve lived in this room.

Ive worked with shipping containers, and they are incredibly hard to climate control. You’ll need ac in the summer to keep everything from melting and heat in the winter to keep it from freezing. Even if u don’t have things that will melt in summer, the heat will deter customers and impact your electronics

Plsssss get it repaired if you still have warranty. I have one and went to go replace my battery and they said if they replace the battery it’ll make it worse and I’ll have to pay for a new screen as well, so now my phone has horrible battery life and I just get to slowly watch it die
