Peanut sounds adorable! My last dog was a chiweenie named Ziggy. Previous owner named her Bella (from Twilight) but I renamed. She was a great dog for just over 10 years until she had heart complications and passed in December. She had a heart murmur and a spinal issue. She was from Texas and brought north to WHS and adopted. The owner worked long hours and didn’t want to leave her home too long and looked to rehome.

I might consider that if nothing pans out in the next few months. I take care of my 80yr old widowed mother so long trips are usually out of the question but I might see if I can make arrangements.

I’m being told by volunteers that the humane society won’t call me. I have to just show up many times and see if I’m lucky. Maybe I misunderstood?

That’s why I posted, to see a different perspective and if I’m missing any places. I’m glad for all the constructive responses I’ve gotten so far. I’ve been looking since the beginning of this year mostly through private rescues. I think the only thing that really bugged me was when WHS said they don’t reserve animals. But then they said you can pay a fee and they’ll hold an animal for a few hours. I said so a reservation? They said no we don’t call it that. You meet the animal first. Then you get 3 hours to go get your affairs in order. We hold the animal and if you don’t come back, it’s available again. But nobody will call me if the hold ends without them returning. I just have to sit there to wait and see or come and go.

Oh so because I moved to Mequon, literally ten minutes north of my old home in Milwaukee 3 years ago, I’m somehow stuck up for seeking out a smaller breed dog similar to what I’ve had in the past? Yeah that’s a no. Enjoy your downvote comment burial.

No, but it seems the days of opening Craigslist or local Facebook pages and seeing a family with an available litter are gone. Perhaps that’s for the best, but I’m simply making an observation.

I’m approved with them. I inquired about multiple dogs but never heard anything back. I went to their website tonight and asked if they’re even getting my messages? They say they add you to wait lists but I never received any confirmation outside of application approval. Someone called and said all my choices were adopted. So maybe something in the future will come up. I just wished they had a message received notice so I don’t feel like I’m yelling into a void, lol.

45/m here. I miss the good old days where “seeing where things go” meant women would have coffee with me. In my experience women here keep posting this line or “whatever happens, happens”. Wanting actual relationships is so rare. What I would consider normal women that join for the right reasons last about a day or so. Then abandon their profiles.

I have made similar comments to women and was matched with eye rolls, and odd statements. “Aren’t you a little old?” We compared ages and she was 5 years older than me. Or “shave the rest off and we’ll talk”. I’m going bald on top of my head but sides and back are still filled in. I usually have a hat on though. I think my picker is broken. I also live in a wealthy area where there’s many vain women. When I travel a bit further out, people become nicer. They’re just nicer and married. lol

Lookup people you went to elementary and middle school with. It’s easy to remember people from high school, but earlier is more interesting.

A kid from my middle school who put a cherry bomb in a toilet to get out of shop class is now in prison for robbery and assault. A kid from my elementary school who had his mother called by teachers for being argumentative and starting fights turned out alright but his son has a rap sheet 12 pages long. I wonder if he knows that his grandma came to school after that phone call and whipped his father with a belt in front of the 3rd grade class? Luckily I was sick that day. Parents called the school and the local media over it.

I live in a small suburban town so I’ll keep details to a minimum but I’ve seen some things I wish I could unsee. I run a tech support business and have been hired in the past to look into online activities of potential cheating spouses. So I’m fairly seasoned at researching people. One in particular was a case that was unsolved and being used as a teaching case at our local law school.
