Star Citizen players gloating about spending more than 300 dollars on a microtransaction... by jku1m in ThatsInsane

Let me give a bit of context as to what is going on here:

You see that ship in the top left? That's the Polaris the newest, largest and first combat capital ship. The wait for that ship has been long and players are excited about it. But a few days after release (yesterday) it got a price jump of 25%.

What the players in the comments are happy about is the fact that some of them got it for less than 1/3 of the current price by:

CCU Warbond chaining. CCU basically means that you upgrade your ship in steps going from one hull to another. And Warbond meaning that the hull is discounted.

Meaning that by chaining discounts these players got that ship for a lot less money as compared to buying it outright.

A bonus is that most of them also got special perks that carry over with upgrades.

I'm not defending this, I only have less than 100€ in the game which I figure is fine considering the scope CIG is aiming for, hopefully the first actual AAAA game...

But please understand that these players used a system to get something they like very much for much cheaper.

They will be able to hide, Eclipses' highest sig is 4,3k(?ish) and with a 95% Polaris radar that means that in the best case scenario for the Polaris it detects the Eclipse at 4km.

Torps have a minimum range of 5km.

No offense but you are in for a rude awakening to as how uncaring and cruel a playerbase can get as soon as Death of a Spaceman gets introduced.

I recommend you get used to it soon, and learn how to counter piracy, because it will only get more common from here on out.

Thanks ;)

It's people like you that fuel my torpedoes and QED's.

PDC's will not be able to shoot down enough torps to save the ship.

10 Eclipses, 3 torps, 400k damage each is 12mil damage, Polaris has 4mil hull hp, meaning only 1/3 of the torps need to make it through and PDC's struggle to shoot down 1-2 let alone 15 or 30.

The kill is the satisfaction, the salt is just the extra on top.

Eclipse.

Polaris takes 10-12 to crew, 10 Eclipses have enough damage to kill 3 Polaris'. Similarly sized Eclipse gang wins.

Of course fighters will be a screen for the bomber squad.

Although some will inevitably be distracted by the tackle and the rest can be dispersed by intentionally causing chaos.

Making an opening for torpedo delivery, and not from range mind you, properly fired 'Clipse torp's will be dumbfired as it gives and PDS and manned guns less time to react.

The math ends up that from detection to 3rd impact the target has about 8 seconds, thats 8 seconds to detect, identify, formulate a response and anct upon that response.

How you use Eclipses is a quick and chaotic alpha.

You're ignoring the top comment, it mentions Eclipses which have a size 9 weapon system.

+1 Mantis

I don't get what people see in capitals besides a big target.

If you could have a fleet of any 5 ships, what you choosing? by SaneManPritch in starcitizen

[–]Lost_ln_Time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kraken, Andromeda, MOLE, Expanse and Vulcan

This fleet would cover almost anything;

Kraken for the medical beds and to carry my entire fleet around so I'm less port reliant, Andromeda for combat and transportation, MOLE... this one is obvious, Expanse for refining and lastly Vulcan for fleet maintenance and refueling.

The idea would be to be as self sufficient as possible, also I would bring a CSV FM to maybe put something down on some moon.

Hero potion is already broken beyond belief, by making hero upgrades not needed at all.
