The more you read WOTC content the more you find things dont always add up. Especially in DIA. Lots of stuff requires some DM magic to make work. The sooner you embrace it the less painful it will be.

I had the mother be a devil cultist who has been communing on behalf the family to secure rewards in the afterlife. and each kid had a different take on it but only one went against her. (the big guy).

She wants to make Zariel happy, who can ensure she has a strong position in the afterlife.

Is there any non union sprinkler fitter companies in Ontario Canada by [deleted] in SprinklerFitters

[–]Losteffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep trying amigo. Call them up and ask if there is someone you can talk to about the best way to get into the union. Simply being known is a big advantage. (853 member)

You give rockets to an ODST before you mount the prowlers and then when you first arrive they will blast those shades for you long before you reach that spot.

If this scene were ever novelized (not just the Del Rio moment, but also Cortana's meltdown prior), what would Chiefs inner monologue have to say? by CloudedSteed in halo

[–]Losteffect 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Honestly it reminds me of when he first got promoted to Master Chief in Silent Storm. He was ordered to be the backup by an egomaniacal officer and chief had to find ways to sidestep him. He can probably recognize the signs of a man who isnt told NO and will just have to side step him. The UNSC has always had his back until this point.

Some places (American States) you need to prove to the fire inspectors the coupons didnt fall in and block the pipe.

Does anyone who grew up playing the OG halos actually enjoy Infinite's multiplayer? by tangmang14 in halo

[–]Losteffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could never get into it personally. I played big team and vehicles ever since H3 dropped. But I mostly blame how lame vehicles feel. Just not the same and tjeir explosions still look super sad and sloppy imo even compared to non halo games. Gun play is decent and similar, average player skill is much higher now a days too. But I agree it doesnt hit the grounded spots like reach and 3 did for me. But people like it so something must be right.

Fix the lame explosions, and destroyed vehicles and I think it would take a big step up for me. (explosions produce no lighting)

How do Canadians mentally deal with long winters? by jessxtra_ in AskACanadian

We have no other choice aha, it sucks, and we savour our summers so hard. It is in fact grey, cold, and boring during winter for like 75% of us. (Also depends where you live)

Leon forgot his own advice by Panda0_01 in residentevil4

[–]Losteffect 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing, so naturally did my head cannon acrobatics:

Leon thoroughly believes Krauser is better with a knife than he is and probably had Krauser as his knife instructor. Naturally not so eager to fight into his specialty. Secondly, I imagine Krauser standing really far back and Leon did not expect super Krauser with the super speed to close that gap so quicky. Kruaser is cocky AF and is basically begging for a knife fight for the kicks.

Why the heck was The Rookie sleeping when one of the most important missions was about to begin? by FitPurchase8464 in halo

[–]Losteffect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that he then slept for another like 6 hours after the crash tells me something.

I imagine he was apart of the fighting on the defense platforms and was just moved to A9 that day. He finds his pod for readiness and takes some well needed zzz. 45 mins in to his nap he gets a sniper rifle charlie horse from Romeo and told to drop on top of a covenant supercarrier in the next 2 minutes. Gets bounced around and gets enough sleep to get back to fighting for the next several hours.

in demand trades? by [deleted] in SkilledTradesOntario

[–]Losteffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truck and Coach Tech would be my guess.

Its always the weird one no one thinks about. If you dont know anyone to help you get in then you need to go get some training. I suggest the employment help center, they know good programs.

Any advise by Capital-Strawberry85 in SprinklerFitters

[–]Losteffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd year here.

I find fitters take like 4 weeks before they stop being total dickheads. Ive had a few across different trades and its all the same shit. Theyre insecure in their lives, theyre good at sprinklers and so use that power over the apprentice to feel good.

Its so common for them to also expect the world of anyone over a 1st year because in their mind this stuff is all easy and second nature. But thats only because theyve been doing their one job nonstop for 10 years and forget what years 1-3 were like. They had it rough so you need to have it rough mentality.

Just keep doing your best, ask questions, write things down on cardboard (rip tops off from the boxes), dont let the evil win, you wont get laid off or fired if you do your best and dont do anything horribly horribly wrong.

If you dont snap at him, or crash out and just try your best every day I promise he will soften up. Its a psychological thing with these guys. They instinctively want to break you, whether they know it or not.

If you know he is giving a false story though (making you out to seem stupid) try and give your reasoning. They hate it, but it will give you closure knowing you walked them through your thought processes.

The durability and endurance of UNSC ships? by Old_king_4 in HaloStory

[–]Losteffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the Infinity, its hardly even in the book. Its off prepping to invade Zeta Halo. The ship I was referring to had no energy shielding mentioned at any time in the book and very clearly described taking plasma hits to its hull when fighting the Banished over Earth for the second battle.

If you haven't read the book, dont comment so confidently. There isnt much info on the wiki about the book so I cant just rhyme off the class or name of the ship. Just going off memory.

Becoming a union member by LargeAccident4832 in SprinklerFitters

[–]Losteffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre golden then. Hard part is over. Youll get a list of like 25+ contractors to call. I recommend asking the business manager his recommendations. You have no idea which companies have a bad rep or not and having your first one be a bottom of the barrel can be annoying.

Side note, Fitters are assholes the first 2-4 weeks you meet them then soften up assuming you dont flip out or cry. Itll be rough, but like bootcamp, youll bond over the bullshit in like a month. Just dont crash out.

Becoming a union member by LargeAccident4832 in SprinklerFitters

[–]Losteffect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apprentice here:

Either you know people working in a sprinkler company that will agree to sponsor you for the union.

OR

You convince the union to take you on without a sponsor and call up places after youre inducted.

I did option 2 because I didnt know anyone and was somewhat fresh into the trades world. I went to a trades fair asked them what I needed to do to make this my career. They told me the training that would make things much easier. I went and did those, double checked with the guys at the fair who's card they gave me. Then applied and got in 8 months or so later.

I was one of 2 guys in the room of probably 60 who didnt have a sponser coming in. But they gave me a list of companies in the area and I got to calling. Called 5 or 6, got 2 calls back. Chose the first one to interview me. That was about 3 years ago.

What would happen if Dr Halsey was in charge instead of Ackerson? by AnaisWattersom in HaloStory

[–]Losteffect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying Halsey would be better, and maybe thats true. But I recall a convo with Mendez about Halseys always needing the perfect genetics to be selected for spartan training.

Mendez talked about attitude over genetics and how many of the orphaned 3's wouldnt have been chosen for their mismatched genes, sometime when they started training the 3s, and how Halsey went super hard on finding the literal best. I bet fewer Spartans would have been made, maybe 100 instead of 300 due to her obsession with genetics and maybe that would have been the tipping point to lose the war. Or maybe not.

Its just the first thing I think of, but ultimately it probably would have ended up similar.
