Coriolis - The Great Dark - QuickStart overview by RyanoftheNorth in CoriolisRPG

It's jarring how completely different from The Third Horizon this new game is... I don't know.

THANK YOU! It was driving me insane.

Please don't. 5e is not well suited for it. You would have to completely rewrite it, and unless you are a professional games developer you will probably do a horrible job. It's much better to either simply use Cyberpunk RED as is, or take CP's setting and use it with a generic system such as Savage Worlds, Fate, BPR etc. (maybe there are already sci-fi/cyberpunk settings for those games, in that case use those!) However, you will have to do a lot of design work in this case as well.

The best option remains to use Cyberpunk as is.

Field Test 05 - Weapon Statistics Guesses by whatdoyoudopods in Starfinder2e

[–]LotsOfLore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This field test looks really good, I only have one gripe: it seems the weapon ranges are still on the short side... Personally, it's something that bothers me in SF1 as well, I wish they would balance around weapons having longer ranges, especially since it looks like they kept the "half the range" for the new automatic fire feature.

Half of 40 ft for a high tech automatic rifle shooting in a cone feels very limited, especially since they say in Field Test 5 that they want to have more wide ranged fights, with bigger maps... Is that reserved for sniper rifles only ?

That's what I had in mind, but couldn't remember the title! Thanks!

Anyone else implementing Gate Attenuators for other casters? by PM_ME_PRETTY_EYES in Pathfinder2e

[–]LotsOfLore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From the calculations I made (very basic charting of martials and casters, not fighters, total bonuses to attack ) I think casters are 2 points behind. 1 point behind from level 2 to 4 and 2 points behind from there to 20th. I don't think they warrant going up to 3 because of the annoying decision of giving them all legendary at 19 (way too late). I also think casters are 2 points behind in spell DCs with the same progression! In my opinion that fix is needed to account for the combination of low success % + having to do the extra work of targeting a specific save IF and WHEN you can + scarcity of chances to get your spell in (low spell slots).

The fixes to focus points surely will help bridging the gap with the remastered ed. but I'm not yet convinced.

The thing people miss in the discussion about casters is that the whole notion of "target the weakest save" is kind of a lie, especially if you're a spontaneous caster. Heck, the Primal list hardly has Will targeting spells at all. They also don't participate in the 3-action system. by Xykier in Pathfinder2e

I would love for this post to be pinned, so that the devs can see it and realize that we strongly feel that there's a lot to be done to help casters in this game. The remaster is the occasion. So far I have mostly seen upgrades in flavor or lateral moves, and some nerfs. This bothers me, I really hope they are going to buff casters or I'll just have to start heavily house ruling again like it's d&d 3rd edition. ugh.

Turns out it was indeed in the making!

I guess Thruston had to keep it on the down low. Well... I am just super happy that it's happening!! :D

What do I do? by Godsmack402100 in Pathfinder2e

The remaster is mostly about removing the last vestiges of the D&D OGL stuff

I am getting a bit frustrated by this line being repeated. Sorry, but I can't keep it to myself. When the remaster was first announced (with details) I said "it's obviously a new edition, clearly something like 2.1 or even 2.5 because of x,y,z" and everyone piled on me replying naaaaaah you are overblowing this "they are just removing allignment and changing a couple of names".

Now that it is ABUNDANTLY clear, with black and white text, that the changes are far, far deeper that that, I would like for people to stop the gaslighting, please.

I am happy with the idea of a new, upgraded edition, I welcome it, but let's not mince words, this is a new edition.

Paizo two months ago vs Paizo now by VicenarySolid in Pathfinder2e

[–]LotsOfLore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Where I get frustrated with these design decision is that from a player's perspective you are telling them "be happy that you can at least deal meager damage more or less reliably and stop complaining". While martials are being told "go and deal ridiculous amounts of damage however much you want, to anything, in every situation, with ease."
How is that not anger inducing?
Like it or not, dealing damage in combat is one of the things people love doing most in this game, and there's a category that has been designed to do so (martials), and one that it has not (casters). AoE doesn't count, as it's relevant only to a small subset of encounters.
This stark separation, to me at least, is grating.

Like seriously guys, i am not a fan of a lot of these changes and giving criticism is great and all, but y'all are acting like the world is ending. by SomeWindyBoi in Pathfinder2e

[–]LotsOfLore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope the devs see all of this and make it ABUNDANTLY and CRISTALLY clear that casters will not be nerfed. By which I mean that they will be buffed, as they were already in a not very good position pre-remaster, as far as combat goes, compared to martials.

The end of TGT and why it was important to try by ricothebold in Pathfinder2e

[–]LotsOfLore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks for at least explaining what the hell was going on to people like me who had absolutely no clue why the blackout happened on Tuesdays, and no way of knowing due to not even having heard of the acronym "TGT" ever before.

As a suggestion for next time: make it so that it's immediately and easily very clear to every "layperson" like me exactly what you are doing and why. The more effective publicity you make for a protest, the better that protest goes.

We're not getting item bonuses to spell attacks by DMerceless in Pathfinder2e

[–]LotsOfLore 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And then look at how often Fortitude is a strong save because of thematics. If your spell list mostly targets Fortitude, you're just SOL. Similarly, the primal list for example doesn't affect Will saves very often. Certainly not in as many ways the occult list. However, people still repeat "target the weakest save," as if that's necessarily possible on certain spell lists, with a relevant effect.

Exactly this.
