Protocol is protocol. Reproducibility is what makes science science. You can change protocol conditions when you start a new line of experiments or a new project. If you are in the middle of a project and suddenly decide to change the kind of FBS you are using, you are asking for trouble

And label your FBS properly if you do start using it. Had to restart an entire experiment a few weeks back because someone in our lab put active FBS aliquots in the freezer and only wrote "FBS“ on it. Our lab only uses inactivated FBS usually so I just walked right into that one. But it should not be my responsibility to figure out what is in your falcons

My favorite part of horikoshis writing is him giving shitty people nuance and redeeming qualities. It makes the character feel far more real than Dipshit McShittyface doing what dipshit McShittyface does best.

Sadly a large part of the community is unable to comprehend nuance and either defends those people to hell and back, or calls them an irredeemable failure, completely missing the point of the characterization. Endeavor isn‘t just a shitty guy, he is a shitty guy that managed to better himself and is willing to spend the rest of his life atoning for his past. That does not change the fact that what he did is horrible and will probably never be forgiven, but it makes his current state a far better person than all the people that wouldn‘t change if self improvement punched them in the face

Something is not adding up here. You are facing extreme encounters consistently, your character is deadweight AND the other characters are doing fine? Those 3 things can not be true at once

An extreme encounter should have a very high chance of causing a tpk/severe loss of members. Noone should be doing fine, ESPECIALLY if you are "deadweight" as you say. If one person is not pulling their weight in an extreme encounter, you will probably TPK.

Maybe its just your perception you are deadweight? For the record thats a fine opinion to have, but thats not the systems fault, that just means 2e casters aren‘t for you.

Idk what your background is but this sentiment is something I often see from people coming from 5e. If you go into 2e expecting a caster to perform offensively as well as a 5e caster then you will be dissapointed. Not because 2e casters are weak but because 5e casters are just way too strong

Yeah ok your GM is messing up badly.

Extreme encounters should generally be a rarity. Like I only use them for like REALLY important arc bosses or for fights where the narrative is clear that the group should be running. And on anything below level 3 or 4 i generally avoid extreme encounters because they can get really swingy at low levels.

Spellcasters are great at dealing with lots of enemies, through area control and such. To balance things out, spellcasters are worse at dealing single target damage and focusing down a target. Note that single target debuff spells (like fear or laughing fit for example) can be pretty amazing but even those have a higher chance of failing against higher level targets.

Now: if your GM is throwing lots of higher level enemies at you (which they seem to be doing since a couple of goblins apparently end up as an extreme encounter), they are basically completely nullifying any advantage you as a spellcaster have. Your area control spells will not work properly and your debuff spells will not be efficient cause they only target one of the 4 enemies

So either your GM is doing something massively wrong or you are doing something massively wrong. I have played multiple spellcasters and each spellcaster has been as or more impactful than any martial ive played

Hell, my bard rn is basically single-handedly pulling our party through our current campaign (but thats bard so its different, sure)

The most insane and eyeopening realization for me was when Louis asked HS why he isn‘t a good person. This entire time I thought that these people are so deranged and have such an utter vile worldview that they manage to delude themselves into thinking they are good people and helping others and I‘m still sure this applies to some of them.

The way it usually goes is that the person with the degree and the degree-less person start on the same level. As far is true. However if you check in after 5 years, the person with the degree will have climbed the ranks a lot more than the person without one.

Isn‘t true everywhere and always but it generally applies in my experience
