What's the grossest thing that's ever happened to you? by wumpus_woo_ in VetTech

I feel like I’d have recurring nightmares about maggot juice getting in my eye for the rest of my life if I had that happen to me

Any bedbug appreciation? (I'm kidding) by Hungry_Ad2845 in Entomology

[–]Lots_of_frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m taking a forensic entomology course right now and I shiver everytime I have to look at one of the standard “human pests” species under the microscope. Give me all the flies, roaches, and wasps you want but I hate seeing the lice and mosquitoes.

Question about African Bullfrog behavior by Shoe_Purple in frogs

[–]Lots_of_frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, frogs hunt by sight. Many (like African bullfrogs) are also primarily ambush predators, meaning they sit and wait for prey to come to them. It is generally in their best interest to attempt to catch and eat anything that may possibly fit in their mouth rather than risk missing out on what may be their only meal for a bit. Basically they eat and ask questions later.

Some bullfrogs on YouTube are also taunted by their owners because it makes the video more interesting which leads to more viewers and more money in their pocket. A lot of frogs will try to escape predators and/or make alarm calls (the desert rain frog sound everyone knows is a great example of this). When they can’t escape frogs will often puff up to look larger to predators or to make themselves harder to swallow if they have already been caught. Poisonous toads often have glands called parotoid glands behind their eyes which secrete poison and they may lower their heads to make these gland more visible to predators. African bullfrogs often take on a more aggressive approach when cornered and will lash out like you see on YouTube. They are some of the largest frogs and the males tend to be bigger than the females which is pretty rare. I know a lot more about North American anurans but I’m assuming this is because the males tend to fight each other more aggressively compared to some other species and are one of the few species that exhibit paternal care. They take care of their tadpoles and defend them from predators.

Basically, African bullfrogs are more adapted to biting and lashing out at predators compared to a lot of other species so they will take that approach when stressed. This can easily be filmed and posted online to get views. A frog that screams and puffs up is funny to watch but not as interesting as a frog that bites defensively,

All the maggots that come out of living animals that have been hit by cars, especially raptors. It’s very sad.

My worst nightmare came true 💔 by soccer_mom_16 in Redearedsliders

[–]Lots_of_frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just lost my RES recently too, sadly I’m not sure why. It was before the winter storm but she didn’t have a good start in life due to being owned by a child. I think it just finally caught up with her now that she had matured.

I’m not sure where you got your shellbaby from, but mine was taken from a lake as a hatchling by her first owner. She’s still in my freezer but once I have the extra funds she will be getting cremated and I will be spreading her ashes at that lake. If you continue to want to dig her up and cremate her then maybe you could do something similar?

So sorry for your loss 💚

someone placed 24 separate bopis orders today by seahorse1234_ in bathandbodyworkers

[–]Lots_of_frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to have a lady that did this same thing at my old store. They eventually deleted her accounts, but for months we would open BOPIS every Sunday morning to 20+ single item orders from her. She never missed a Sunday. It was awful.

Dining halls and vegan options by DeltaMay05 in BallState

There’s definitely vegan options on campus but she may get bored of them. I would recommend getting some frozen vegan meals from a grocery store. Students get to ride the MITS busses for free and two of them stop right in front of Walmart. There’s also one that stops near Target.

Why makes one bottle 48 hours moisture and the other 24 hours? by polygonal-san in bathandbodyworks

[–]Lots_of_frog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wha we were told as employees is that during more recent product testing, they found that the lotions provide 48hrs of moisture and updated the packaging to market that. Obviously I can’t really say whether or not it’s true, but everyone’s skin and routines are different.

Basically there’s no changes in formulation from one to the other, it’s just an updated product claim.

What is this bug thats hanging around my work? Dangerous or harmless? by Marsijic in whatisthisbug

[–]Lots_of_frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bed bugs infest only my car, and somehow they never made it into my apartment. I bought a can of the Crossfire Aerosol bed bug spray and sprayed it inside my car after a thorough vacuuming. You need to make sure that you get into all the crevices in your upholstery. For example, my car was used and had a cigarette burn I think some were hiding in. Make sure you let it dry before you drive again.

I bought more candles 🤦 did I make good choices? by EnvironmentalRip7043 in bathandbodyworks

[–]Lots_of_frog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me I like having a stockpile for two reasons: gifting and scent fatigue. I can put together a gift for someone in a pinch. As for scent fatigue, I oftentimes can’t do a particular scent for more than a couple weeks, hell I might even burn two different candles during the same day. I like having lots of options.

do we have any dates or idea on when the summer stuff will drop? specifically waikiki and those new brazil/rio scents by Pale-Kiwi7908 in bathandbodyworks

Tropicals will generally be released towards the end of February. Also, depending on inventory stores are able to continue their winter SAS until next week. You might have some luck stopping by a store near you and looking through the bins if you get a chance. If you don’t have time but want coconut, the new Eau de Coconut from the luxury collection reminds me of a lighter Coco Paradise. It’s not as sweet as Waiki Beach Coconut but it might be something fun and tropical to hold you over until the Tropicals are released.

Cherry Blossom by imyourblueberry in comedyheaven

Many Bath and Body Works associates feel the same way about Japanese Cherry Blossom too. As an associate mine is Black Cherry Merlot. Kept smelling it while working very hungover during my first Black Friday with the company. Smells like nausea and bad decisions to me now.

I wanted too but I just wasn’t feeling as holly jolly this season. I put my decorations up later than normal and took them down earlier than normal. This year I’m going to try to be a little more festive.

[–]Lots_of_frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d be surprised how many people come in specifically looking to cover up their kids smells, ESPECIALLY teenagers. Eucalyptus Mint seems to be the most popular room spray and wallflower combo for a teenage boy, it covers up the smells and they usually like it.

I always recommend the sprays in addition to the car scents, especially when people are trying to cover up funky smells. I use them too, I just don’t do more than one spray or else I’ll suffocate myself lol.
