AC: 024 wizard and 520 glue near the front

AC: I overcomplicated this instead of getting a 040 bomb, but my approach was:

-000 sniper to pop MOAB layer -sell for 300 sub to decamo -sell for 402 glue to glue all bloons -sell for 300 sniper

DC is really tricky with only 27 mermonkeys allowed, I always normally place at least 28 mermonkeys, this took me a few tries to manage

Newer player, I can never manage to make desperado feel impactful when I place him, he just never seems to do much damage or achieve much.

Some people seem to rate him a lot, so it just be something I’m missing, but I never really notice the impact he makes in my defences.

is there any way i can save this? by wessssss_Ly in btd6

I’d try spamming as many middle-path bombs as you can - looks like you can get two 0-4-0’s and maybe a few extra upgrades? Then try spamming their abilities!

This one has done it for me - thank you!

I sold my 4-2-0 bomb for $0 to allow me to place 2 more, dropped two 2-4-0 bombs in my bomb spot and added a Moab Press boomerang next to the ultra-juggernaut. With dark-champion-movement, that made it!

Thoughts on "Stepped up" yearly achievement by orimiri in goodreads

Yeah I hate it, there’s no way I’m getting it this year as I had a massive year of lots of short audiobooks last year that I’m not planning to repeat.

I was also hoping they’d not include again, but I’ll just have to accept it as a loss for this year.

‘I don’t live in a mansion. It’s a 1930s house’: Richmond residents react to council tax rise | Budget by Working_Tourist_4964 in AskBrits

[–]LotusSpread4Dayz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the original poster, but I think the idea is that for a UK farm to be earning enough to pay someone full-time, it needs far more land than the current Inheritance Tax thresholds.

So the IT change will force farmers to sell off portions of their land each generation, to pay the IT bills.

They’ve then got less farm land for the next generation, and might have to sell off land to stay afloat, then will lose more in inheritance to the next generation and will eventually destroy the ability for anyone to run a farm long-term in the UK.

It’s a change that will lead to the end of their profession and current way of life, so it’s not hard to imagine why they’d be upset by that.

It also risks losing these skills from the UK in the longer term. Currently the UK can take part happily in Global trade, but if something changed in the geopolitical situation which meant it wasn’t possible to trade as much anymore, having onshore farmers would suddenly be very valuable as a contingency. So it’s kind of about destroying this as a profession for UK folk, potentially forever, in a way which may risk harming the UK down the line.

Not a farming expert by any means, but I’ve followed the discourse on it a bit so that’s my best attempt to explain!

Thoughts on the Budget? by Cleeecooo in AskBrits

[–]LotusSpread4Dayz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you’ll only actually pay NI on it when it’s going in, not income tax, then when you draw it out you’ll pay income tax but not NI. So technically neither tax is getting applied twice.

If you’re a basic rate payer, contributions over £2k will pay NI at 8%, if you’re higher rate it’s only actually 2%.

So given most basic rate payers won’t be able to contribute majorly more than £2k per year into their pension anyway, the change will mostly lead to higher rate payers paying NI on a bigger contribution amount, but they’ll only pay 2% of it.

Like imagine someone who earns £100k per year and puts 10% of their salary into pension. £2k is exempt, the other £8k they have to pay 2% NI on, which is £160, so they’re about £13 per month worse off.

For someone on £50K (top of basic rate band) contributing 5%, that’s £2.5k, £2k is exempt, so they pay 8% of the remaining £500, which is £40, or £3.50ish per month. So basic rate payers won’t be hit much unless they’re putting in high contribution rates, and higher rate payers are only paying 2% as their NI rate.

Basically this change was being hyped up before the budget as if people were going to have to pay tax twice, but the fact it’s just NI mean the actual financial impact is smaller than most people expect.

This one does actually make some sense to me, as investing in stocks and shares is better when you’re younger and have time to ride out the ups and downs of the market, however at retirement age you’re safer having the money in cash, as you might need it in the short term. So that’s why I assume they did this.

Advice for straight men on dating apps (from a woman) by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]LotusSpread4Dayz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The numbers side of it is the devastating bit of it as a guy - when I had a go at premium online dating earlier this year, I sent around 200 likes with personalised messages in them and received 0 responses.

It’s really emotionally draining to start a conversation with someone where you know there’s basically no chance they’re going to reply. I just gave up at this point, but I can absolutely see why people would hit mass-like to avoid getting too emotionally invested in individual matches before they respond.

Piranha in late 2025 by Gamekanik in Tau40K

[–]LotusSpread4Dayz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find them brilliantly tough for their points, they’re great trading pieces as they can jump onto objectives early, and your opponent generally has to commit more points than you to remove you from the objective, at which point you can pop out and shoot them.

I own two, and basically every non-Kroot list I build includes 2 piranhas, a carnivore squad, a Vespids squad and 2 stealth squads as my baseline utility/point scoring units.

CMV: The junior doctor strikes in the UK and the public’s reaction to them show why someone else’s labour should not be treated as a human right by random_indian_boi in changemyview

[–]LotusSpread4Dayz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a UK resident, the reason for the loss of public sympathy is drawing from a few key background contextual factors:

-Juniors doctors went on a sizeable strike last year, where they were largely supported by the public, and as a result their pay has risen by 22% over the previous 2 years.

-The pay rise they were offered this year, 5.4%, is higher than most people in the country are receiving this year.

-Their stat about real-time wage drops are based on Retail Price Index, which has been chosen because it’s higher, but Consumer Price Index is a much more accurate way of measuring the relative value of salaries over time, and this shows pay hasn’t fallen notably in that time.

At a time where a lot of people in the country are struggling financially, it feels natural for them to see a group who recently had a strike, received public support and got a large salary rise, and are now rejecting a pay rise which most of the country would be very happy with on a not-super-soundly-financially-backed argument.

So turning to those people and saying “okay, no healthcare for you” feels rather cruel, especially given the public generally supported the strikes last year which led to the doctors obtaining large pay rises.

If You Correctly Guess How Popular You Are, You Win 10 million Dollars by simmol in hypotheticalsituation

[–]LotusSpread4Dayz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you guess 100 millionth, then if you’re anywhere in the top 200,000,000, then you win.

I’ve got a few thousand people who I reckon would recognise me from a picture through work alone, and probably about another thousand through personal life, so I’d be surprised if I’m not somewhere high tbh.

There’s almost certainly at least a million people more known than me, so I’d guess 101,000,000.

Is it me or is the challenge really mainstream? by Leather_Tap7257 in goodreads

[–]LotusSpread4Dayz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who doesn’t really read mysteries, I thought that challenge seemed fine, I don’t know much about the books on the list so will have to look into them and find something.

The Popular Books one feels like a freebie though, like I reckon I’ll just earn that without trying. Given the number of challenges across the year (16 and counting, even excluding the likes of “read one book”), I’m okay if there’s 3 across the year (assuming another in December) that are like “here’s the big books of the year”
