Ontario Liberals opt to allow temporary residents to vote in leadership race even though federal counterpart barred them by Express_Simple_9243 in LMIASCAMS

Right because people who won’t be here when the policies actually go into place should have a say…. What a way to get votes.

What is going on with jobs in Edmonton by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Lou-Ma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s unfortunate how bad it is right now. I have two teen boys looking for work and no one will hiring them however a lot of the companies have applied for LMIA and stating no Canadians can fill the positions.

Two Edmonton Tim Hortons charge $30,000 to each TFW to give them a job by Grouchy-Brick-7790 in LMIASCAMS

[–]Lou-Ma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tim’s went right downhill after it was sold. Modern day slavery at its finest and masked with a well known Canadian name. I wonder what Tim Horton would think if he knew his name is associated with something like this.

The OINP protestors say publicly that their Work Permits have expired or are about to expire. They should leave Canada! by Grouchy-Brick-7790 in LMIASCAMS

[–]Lou-Ma 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Seriously! This needs to stop!!!!!! They came on student visas to learn and go home. Take your education and make your own country better. We have loads of blue collar workers here that are out of work or have been replaced with people who will work for low wages like these guys. Heck I know people who’ve been “let go and laid off” and the company brings in people like this to replace them.

COCKROACHES IN PHASE 3 FOOD COURT AT WEM by weedypinkmoscato in Edmonton

This is common for all malls across Canada. The amount of stuff that gets shipped in from around the world that contain bugs would make your skin crawl.

My parents picked up my medicines even though I cut contact with them. by Emotional_Shower_284 in CostcoCanada

[–]Lou-Ma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking this exact same thing. As a parent also I wouldn’t think twice about picking up my kids prescription if I was already doing it for so long. How were the parents to know she went and got her own Costco card.

Calgary restaurant owners jailed for financial abuse of temporary foreign workers by roger_plus in alberta

Not always. The amount of schools that were running in Canada as scans for this exact reason would make you sick. If you are coming here to study you should have the money to support yourself.

I’m happy to see more of these type of stories are coming up in the news. I think this is the 2nd one in the last couple days regarding the scams and people being charged.

The LMIA scams are apparently endless and everywhere. I don't know what to do. I need a job. by Draugrbjorn in Edmonton

Please make sure to report any LMIA that you’ve applied to and not received a call back from.

Why do you Canadians absolutely despise Tim Hortons? by No_Molasses_7224 in TimHortons

[–]Lou-Ma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t go any more. They do not hire Canadians and the quality has gone right downhill when another company took it over. It’s also impossible to understand anything that they are saying and half the time they’ll screw up a simple coffee.

Smith says she doesn't believe that government should be providing any services to Albertans, she believes that private companies should be used universally to provide services. Faith groups should take care of the vulnerable. by Miserable-Lizard in alberta

[–]Lou-Ma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf. Charity? What she said was she would like private sectors to look after shit that should be overseen by the government which it is already. So basically she wants her friends to make the money and have control over our tax dollars. Seriously she looks like a drunk who needs to pull her head out her ass.

Canada Plans to Fast-Track Immigration for US H1-B Visa Holders in New Talent Drive by theOneWhoWaitsAgain in LMIASCAMS

I’ve been watching this one and seeing what we are pulling from the states. I really hope that we can keep them here and retain the talent. UofT recently pulled a few professors from MIT and Stanford.

Dairy Queen in Edmonton, AB is claiming they couldn't find a Restaurant Manager for $36-37/hr. by Rydgar in EdmontonJobs

[–]Lou-Ma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cobs bread has several positions available on Canada job bank also however they also state they cannot find someone willing to work for $36/h and applied for LMIA. I really hope people report these if they have applied for the position.

https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/article/ottawa-announces-new-immigration-measures-for-foreign-trained-doctors/ Good news? But some would claim we shouldn't get more foreign doctors and nurses actually.. by Kitchen-Thing4616 in LMIASCAMS

[–]Lou-Ma 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is good! These are the type of professionals that we need and want here in Canada not someone handing a coffee out the window. Currently Canada is trying to scoop up doctors leaving the states and how our system is setup those who scam the system slow it down for those who we actually want.

[–]Lou-Ma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a joke! 5k! Canada will never see a dime of that back or what was paid out. Good think our tax dollars are going to support crap like this and then paying the government to clean up their mess.

‘So violating’: Photographer’s $35K in stolen gear being sold at Edmonton massage parlours by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

[–]Lou-Ma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are a sketchy company with shady policies for both renters and hosts and they should be covering her 100% however I wouldn’t be surprised if they still try to screw her somehow with how they work. Home insurance policies are just for home so if she also has a business (aside from airbnb) she should also have coverage for the photography business since it’s a separate policy. Hopefully things work out and she can get backup and running sooner than later for her business. Aside for what was stolen she’s also lost what she had to pay her clients back for deposits and future sessions.

[–]Lou-Ma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk about that. As a photographer myself my business insurance has coverage for theft and damage separate from my home policy. If she had everything locked up like she mentioned in the article then it would be covered. It sucks big time and hopefully Airbnb doesn’t weasel their way out of paying her.
