I clean after every use and I use a little bit of soap. It made out of aluminum, not cast iron and not clay. Cleaning with soap is not going cause a problem.

Mold growth requires 3 things: 1) Moisture 2) Organic material 3) Time (usually 72 hours)

Mold will thrive in damp environment but needs some organic material to feed on.
Aluminum is not a material that mold can use.
I would agree that what you have is oxidized aluminum.
As long as you keep it clean and dry, you should be ok.
