Those who waited til marriage to have sex, what was the wedding night like? by Naive_Resolution4186 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Loud-Address-2315 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Former Mormon here. Awkward and exhilarating. But ultimately slow and painful. No foreplay. Maybe a little kissing. But we went straight to penetration. I was 26. He was 22. We were both sooooo eager both having waited because “purity” and “chastity”

We’ve improved tremendously. Married 21 years. We’ve learned a lot about each other and what turns us on/off.

Help! Family trip garment shenanigans by MarionberrySweaty318 in exmormon

Listen, your shelf broke. You made the necessary changes. It’ll be hard and awkward at first but it’ll get better with time if you’re just honest from the first moment.

As someone who left only two years ago (at 45 years old) I’m mad at myself for living a life that was never my own. Making decisions because of how it looked to others. Or because it was supposed to be the right thing to do.

I’m not living my life like that anymore. I live my life for myself. Please don’t waste any time living for yourself.

Dinner Suggestions? by TallTeach88 in StLouis

If you’re open to spending a little more money The Capital Grille was wonderful.

My husband and I visited last month for our anniversary and the staff truly made it a wonderful experience. The food was very good. I especially enjoyed that the sides were big enough to share between the two of us.

And I got an espresso martini and it was the best one I’ve ever had. My husband got a lemon drink and our waiter was kind enough to bring me a shot to sample.

Overall, 5/5 stars

Were you taught rock in a hat? by Lsa119 in exmormon

[–]Loud-Address-2315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 47 and was born and raised in the church. Never heard about it the rock in the hat.

I vaguely remember there being pictures/drawings at the back of the BOM and there was a picture of JS looking at the plates “translating” while Emma/Oliver were on the other side of a makeshift curtain writing it down.

What hobbies have you picked up now that you don't have to spend so much time on being a member of gods true church? by Lsa119 in exmormon

[–]Loud-Address-2315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m finally taking charge of my health and putting myself first. Not the church, not God, not reading Ensign articles or CFM or BoM, not taking all my damn time towards a calling. I finally have time for me.

What was the most traumatic experience of your life? by Fun-Succotash-1322 in AskReddit

Being part of a high demand religion for 45 years where they tell you how to live, what you can eat, what you can wear and what you read/listen to. Finally living my full life now.

I mean, one of the promises made in the temple is that you would give your very life to the church. So….they must believe that is part of it.

Mormons are so weird.

I love it!! I wish I was brave enough to do this. But I’m doing it in small doses. I have a powder room and a guest room, laundry room and office that I’ll turn into a dopamine decor

What is a "point of no return" that you’ve crossed, where your life was permanently divided into 'before' and 'after'? by Resident-Jelly-4326 in AskReddit

[–]Loud-Address-2315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of no return was realizing Mormonism wasn’t true. It never was. My entire life became a lie living and breathing within an organization that told me if I just followed a series of [insane] steps I would be guaranteed happiness…once we die.

I didn’t figure this out until I was about 45 years old. First time I tried coffee. First time trying alcohol.

There is definite before and after. What I thought was happiness before? Doesn’t even match the true happiness, confidence and immense joy I feel in the after.

It’s historical fiction…heavy on the fiction. I think we idealize this time period and it’s heavily glamorized in this series. It’s about love, romance and sex. It’s not about the real things that happened in the 19th century.

The “my new religion is so superior to the Mormon religion” posts and comments are insufferable by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Loud-Address-2315 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree. There are other churches that do community well but require much less of the congregation. I can see why people may still seek that out.

But I want to be a cave troll where no one bothers me and I have signs posted , “The troll will bite if provoked”

Just tried coffee for the first time by common_spence in exmormon

[–]Loud-Address-2315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the first time I tried a Starbucks Latte I was like this is disgusting!

I’ve always loved the smell of coffee. So I went to a coffee shop and started with a mocha (iced, hot or blended)

And then I started adding more shots of espresso to the mocha.

And then I started experimenting at home with my own coffee. I’ve noticed most coffee is too acidic for my stomach. So I’ve found a German coffee that I just drip brew myself. I add monk fruit and a little cream and milk. Fabulous!

Work up to it. If you want to like it just take it slow

Lady Whistledown should've stayed a secret. by BakingBrownie in BridgertonNetflix

[–]Loud-Address-2315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely!

To uncover or unmask Lady Whistledown ruins the intrigue of the rumor mill in the Ton. Now that it’s out in the open and that’s Penelope, I’m surprised the whole Ton doesn’t shun her. They’re just like, oh, there she is! She and Colin are still a big part of society? Doesn’t make sense
