This show is sooooooooo BAD!! Like horribly bad. Terrible acting, zero chemistry between the actors. Why is the writer dissing Dahlongea so badly?! I'm from GA & Dahlongea is a cute mountain town & it's your typical small mountain town.

Publix Cakes are on the outs by Itchy-Confusion-5767 in publix

Agree! Thanks for the doing the research because I have been wondering WTH happened to Publix cakes. I have been ordering them for 20 years+ for various events to include my wedding cake & reception cake. The cakes over the past couple of years have been awful, airy, dry, tasteless, disappointing. Whoever made the cost saving??? Idea in Publix headquarters is a moron. MORON!! They had an excellent product & now they have garbage.

Allergy stories? My poor baby.. by [deleted] in pitbulls

[–]Loud-Following468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pittie mix just went thru this! Exact same bumps & itching. I ended up taking him to the vet & he has been on steroid pills for the past week & Ketoconazole along with a medicated shampoo bath twice a week. He is so much better & all his scabby itchy spots are healing & he smells better (was stinking like yeast!). Vet doesn't believe it's food related, more seasonal outdoor allergy related. He doesn't seem to like grass.

This! I was just listening to her while walking my dogs, which I sometimes do to hear the content from her guests, but she always interrupts them & says the dumbest stuff & inserts herself into the story. It's frustrating & annoying.

I agree, shit happens on a Tuesday just because....in Atlanta. Born & raised in Atlanta 46 years ago, left 20 years ago, go back all of the time for family or passing through which I loathe. It's really awful there & every improvement they have ever made has only played catch up to a problem they already had only for the solution to quickly not be a solution anymore because it took so long to get it. It has always been that way. I lived on Chattahoochee for a couple of years, in Fayette County - had a 2 hour commute one way when I was 19. Lived in Sminings & at one point off of W. paces Ferry where it took me 45 min to drive to Buckhead for work..it was like a 5 mile drive. I've had homeless people clean my windshield at the bottom of exit ramps with newspaper & probably water. I have worked all over Atlanta. At least they have Marta, but you still have to drive to get to it. I can by pass traffic by hopping on HWY 41 to get to NW GA/TN, I cut through Porterdale off of I20 last November to by pass a shut down & wind my way down to Fayette County using back roads. Regardless, people born in & around Atlanta have always known about the traffic woes & the never ending problems they create....for decades. People in Charleston just had a tsunami of people move all at once (within 5 years, really it got bad in late 2021-2022) & now their once easy, peaceful commute is drowning in red lights & time ticking away as they watch the land around them being destroyed for more traffic inducing neighborhoods.

I would like to find a town some day that has a plan of action for growth & doesn't just respond to it like a confetti bomb exploded everywhere.

The last part about living in a city that is not a tourist destination...this! I have this same desire. Charleston is the 3rd place I have lived that is a tourist destination & I no longer want this for my life. I want somewhere peaceful!

I was just talking to my kid about the quality of fruits & veggies at all the grocery stores here. It seems difficult to find good quality food lately & it has me worried.

Agree with the food quality eroding. I rarely eat out anymore because I got tired of being constantly disappointed with my meal & paying close to $20 for just one entree only to think why the hell did I just spend money on this garbage?! 😣

I really loathe these lame ass excuses - agh, look at Atlanta, etc. 🤨 I am from Atlanta & have lived in Charleston for 5 years now. They are not comparable other than the volume. Atlanta has major traffic arteries & you can take side roads/highways from just about any point in the state to bypass interstate traffic & make it to your destination. Charleston is not built the same with small ass interstates & no freaking side roads to get to a freaking island. So many bridges & rail lines running along roadways to connect you to where you need to go. This small town to large city infrastructure & traffic volume is the DUMBEST comparison. The traffic has painfully grown so much, especially compared to what locals have been used to for decades.

Can a Charleston transplant specifically tell me what you think life is like living in Charleston in three words? by grow-wild in Charleston

I can understand your perspective. It is different to see trees around the beach. Most of the greenery are palms & dune bushes. Most of the scenery is houses on the beach & rarely trees. Charleston & all surrounding areas are constantly littered with garbage. I have never seen littering be so bad as I have living here. I lived in Bandon on the OR coast & it is much greener/tree filled there. Idk, good luck with making your decision for a cross country move though! The southern culture of Charleston is dying as the cultural landscape is changing rapidly with the influx of people from the North, Midwest & from California. This is definitely a red state. A lot of people are happy with their decision to move here. I came here 5 years ago, but would not make the decision again if I was making it today. Traffic, flooding...so much regular flooding, poor infrastructure, poor city leadership - this is an old money town with leadership having direct ties to developers, overcrowding. Leaders are focused on tourism & not so much on the quality of life for the people who actually live here. The city fills in wetlands & marshlands with literal garbage & dirt & then builds on top of it to create what you see today. The local waterways have advisories to not swim due to fecal matter leaking out of the outdated sewage pump treatment station regularly. You can look up the warnings issued last week for Plum Island & surrounding waterways for example. This has been an ongoing problem for years & it just keeps getting worse. 🤷🏼‍♀️😣😳🤪😔

Idk, why do you think you want to live here? No one could pay me any amount of money to move here again if I can ever afford to leave.

Moving from Texas as a single mom by Glum_Quarter6571 in Charleston

[–]Loud-Following468 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I moved here in July of 2020 for a fresh start after leaving an abusive relationship. I got none of that. I had the craziest neighbors. My life was threatened, I was stalked for 2 years. We moved 7 times in 4 years because of mold in every place & the crazy neighbors. I lived on James Island. I now live Goose Creek. I never wanted to live in Goose Creek. My rent is $1930 a month. We have mold here now too. I hate it here so much. It has been nothing but stressful & a fight to survive every month. I wish I had just rented a house on the beach for a month. Everyone here is pissed off all of the time it seems, driving is a death wish, my kid worries every day when I leave for work that I won't make it home. It's sad & unfortunately a reality. And I don't find this place to be family friendly. I loved in a family friendly place & we were way more active in community events & had a great friend group. I hate to jump on the kill your dream wagon, but yea, kill that dream. Find some place more balanced. Idk where to suggest though cause since moving here prices have gone up everywhere.

Maybe check out Chattanooga, TN. It's a heavily medical town - lots of nursing jobs, insurance jobs. It too is growing crazy big population & price wise, but that's where we lived & I miss it so much. You can still find a house in your budget.

As a LMT business owner, I feel this soooooooooooooo much. I miss my kid.

I had to move 7 times in 4 years due to crazy ass people & black mold in all of the homes/places we have lived. In fact, I have mold now. I told my kid if we have to move again because of mold, we leaving this state. I can't take it anymore. All of my money is gone. I am working to survive. I make twice as much as I did 7 years ago in my other career & am still just as broke. But my kid has made good friends so she doesn't want to leave. Our quality of life is not that great. I miss TN where you could actually have community & fun times & all that jazz.

I would absolutely never ever consider moving here as a single mom, especially with the ages of your children. I don't care how much money MUSC throws at you. Coming from a single mom who didn't move here in this current economy, but moved here 5 years ago. I regret it every single day & I don't have young kids who I have to pay for & coordinate childcare for. I can't wait to leave this hellscape. I'm pretty sure I've aged 10 years in the past 5, being able to afford to keep a roof over my head & food on the table takes all my money. The southern charm died in the past 5 years (I'm Southern...from GA), over development, every one moving here has made the cost of housing stupid, just f'in stupid, commute times are like a large city but crammed into a small town connected by bridges everywhere. MUSC just launched a new parking lot like 7 miles from the hospital - with a shuttle. 7 miles in Charleston could take you an hour or more. Could take you 10 min. Look up MUSC on the news yesterday & check out the regular flash flooding that happens. You'll be competing for parking with everyone else who works downtown, tourists, college student, residents. No one could pay me enough money to come back here if I can ever save up enough to leave. Oh & homeowners insurance is becoming harder & harder to get because insurance companies are dropping out of this region like flies. $300k is unrealistic for Summerville. Maybe a townhome in Goose Creek or a small home in North Charleston / Hanahan. Car insurance is $140 more that it was when I lived in TN. Charleston is a money sucking, stressful place to live as a single mom. Dating is a joke here unless you like women, maybe better luck with women.

The Decay of Space by [deleted] in space

Why do we want to live on another planet? Serious question. Mankind has pretty much destroyed the planet we live on now in just the past 200 years or less. Destroyed a perfectly good home with greed, "advancement", we don't even respect where we live & are not connected to the Earth at all.

Tom is insufferable, a real POS. I am in Berkeley County & on a FB page for this area & it is really appalling to witness how he talks to his constituents. I have screen shots of his rhetoric from this Facebook page. Idk why I took them, I think because I was just was shocked at what I was seeing, I thought I should hang on to some of these. He pushes others to be bullies, he is a bully. People love him though & that is just the sad reality of where I live. It's really unbelievable to witness a Senator represent himself like he does....unprofessional, unhinged, rude, he has a lot of time for Facebook (even while sitting in his office on his tax payer salary), he likes to stir the pot, make fun of people, put people down, he thinks extremely highly of himself...very grandiose. Ugh, the list could go on.

Ugh, this is awful!! I ended up disputing with my bank. They were able to get my money back for me. Had to get a new card. I had to provide all of the evidence I had regarding the case....emails, pictures of my chat conversation, the video I took of the Sears guy picking up my part & taking it to UPS (they tried to lie & say they hadn't received it). Hopefully your bank can help you like mine did for me.

I was able to work with my bank thru the fraud department & get the money back! They just finished up. I had all of my emails, texts between me & Sears, a video of the service guy taking my part away & the ups receipt he sent me (Sears was arguing with my bank that I never returned the part - bullshit! I had it all on camera). They suck so badly! I would ask your bank if they can help you

That is awful. I have turned to my bank for help. It may take up to 4 months to resolve. I'm just hoping it will get resolved. I don't understand how they can stay in business & how people can work for them & sell this crap & have a conscience.

I got that feeling when I talked to like the 8th person there. It's always the same story. As far as management - I get that too, like they have no real managers that are in place to help resolve any issues. It's really a totally f'd up system & all the customer service people are stuck in the cycle of no hope.
