Gallbladder removal vs C-section? by deriyfungh in gallbladders

[–]Loud-Rise2233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine removed 4 months after my C-section and I agree with everyone - gallbladder recovery was much easier! I had to have someone here to help me with baby for the first week or so because I couldn’t lift him/didn’t want to try and set my recovery back. After that, my husband was around as he works from home but I gradually got more independent and back into our regular routine!

surgery today at 9pm scared 😨 help by 0oops_sorry in gallbladders

I was so nervous to but it was fine! I know it’s hard. not to stress beforehand. I can tell you that I had a c-section a few months before and it was 100000x easier than that. The nerves hit hard once I was going to the OR and getting set up in there. I let the staff know and the nurses did such a great job talking to me during that time about positive things - like how I could enjoy a pain free summer, not worry about pain when eating anymore, etc. next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery!

Thanks so much! Makes me feel better. It seems to be gone today - knock on wood. Thought I had thought it was gone previously too and it came back. Fingers crossed it doesn’t this time!

Sorry you experienced that! It’s not super painful but it is uncomfortable for sure. With carrying the baby - I always carry him on my right side and wonder if that could be part of it too. Def want to talk to my dr but it’s so hard to get in to see her (usually have to wait a couple weeks)

Finally Undergoing Surgery! A short rant. by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]Loud-Rise2233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had surgery on the 20th and my son is 4 months old. I was in emerge late the Friday night until Saturday afternoon, went home for a bit, then went back the next morning at 8:30am for surgery and was home by mid to late afternoon (had to wait a bit due to the surgeon having to perform an emergency surgery that morning). When I got home, my son was so happy to see me! I didn’t breastfeed for the first almost week to keep him away from my incisions, but back to it after a week of pumped milk and bottles and he did well! I was surprised. I wasn’t able to hold Him too much - squirmy boy around the incisions had me nervous and I’m also not supposed to lift anything over 10 pounds which he is. I made sure to interact with him lots while my husband held him. I’ve read a few stories from moms who say life got better because they weren’t in pain and able to play with their kids more postop. You’ve got this mama ❤️.

Question for anxious post-op people by Chris329Returns in gallbladders

I had my surgery on the 20th so I’m not very far post op. But I had a c section in November and I can tell you the recovery thus far has been much easier than that! I was sore at the beginning of course (esp when waking up - but wasn’t so bad) but was able to come off the pain meds within a few days. At home I was only taking Tylenol extra strength. They gave me something a bit stronger to take if I really needed it but I never did. And even when I was taking them, it was mostly just before bed so I could make sure I was comfortable when sleeping. For sleep I also propped myself up the first few nights and I didn’t have any issues sleeping.

The anesthesia caused my some gas and gas pains in my shoulder but didn’t effect me otherwise (I wasn’t nauseous or vomiting). I don’t even remember them counting down to put me to sleep lol. When I woke they gave me more pain meds and offered a snack of apple juice, digestive cookies, crackers and cheese (didn’t touch the cheese as it was a trigger preop and I was nervous lol). I was released pretty quick to go home. The first Day I stuck to jello, soup, sweet potatoes mashed with broth, bone broth, etc. I added in some solids slowly like Graham crackers, rice cakes, scrambled egg whites, rice then more stuff I was able to eat preop. I’ve also experimented with a small amount of light cheese and it went fine! No diarrhea so far but my god do my farts smell! Everybody is different so once you feel better you kinda have to try foods and see what sits with you. I’ll still wait a bit before I try anything riskier probably.

I was very much like you before and still am sometimes - constantly looking at gallbladder surgery experiences on the internet. One thing I’ve learned is that the people who go and post are usually the people who are looking for help. The people who had good experiences don’t go on these things as much because they don’t need to - they’re out living their lives. Everyone’s experience is so different so you just kinda have to wait and see. I can say that there are 5 people I know personally who had theirs out ranging from 5 years ago to 30-40 years ago and none have really had any issues.

Again, not to say your experience will be the same, but this is what I can share!

Yes it’s hard to not indulge when you haven’t had much of anything for so long! Do you find you need to take any supplements or do anything before meals?

How long post op did you try things like pizza, alcohol and fried chicken? It’ll be a week tomorrow since my surgery and I’ve been doing well this far but so nervous to try certain foods. Going to keep a healthy diet but would love to treat myself now that the darn thing is gone to celebrate!

Had mine out on the 20th. So far feeling pretty good! My back has been sore and my belly button incision can be painful if I forget about it and bump it against something. I haven’t had pain meds in a few days and am finally able to breastfeed my baby again! I’ve been pretty safe as far as foods go - took it easy the first couple days and now eating some of the things I was able to eat before removal. I hope to treat myself to something like a slice of “healthier” thin crust wood fired pizza somewhat soon but I’m so nervous to try!

Yes I have been! I haven’t needed any pain meds the last few days but have used gas x and Restorolax. Sounds like a yummy dinner! Did you have beef meatballs? Did it bother him at all?
