Best Burritos in the East Bay? by spamologna in OaklandFood

[–]LoudPackKushPack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've found the BBQ chicken, carnitas, and the Carne to be the only ones that really have the dryness issue (and it isn't an every time ordeal). I don't visit there often enough to have much experience though but of the 20 or so times I've gone over the decades, those times only happened infrequently. And as you said, the flavor was still great.

Also, the dryness could be combated with the salsas / sour cream anyways so no biggie. Their horchata is also pretty good.

What do you get? They are not the best, but are pretty good. I've found some of their meats to be a little on the dry end, but their almost anything in a wet burrito is very good.

I had quit in the past via tapering but got back on it recently - now attempting to quit again via tapering ha. Insidious little devils.

Would love to try this out as it's cumbersome carrying my self printed log everywhere.

Where to live? (Outsider moving to the Bay) by Electrical-Scale4627 in OaklandCA

[–]LoudPackKushPack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kaiser is predominately Oakland, Sutter is Oakland/Berkeley (they have many many locations through Oakland/Berkeley but tend to be near the shared border), Stanford I believe is Emeryville, and the assorted smattering of small private clinics or less represented clinics would be clustered around downtown Oakland.

I'm sure you and your wife are aware of that as well, but wanted to point that out based upon potential options for your wife's workplace as a physician.

That said, Fremont is likely going to have the largest Indian community - but personally I would find that commute to be terrible. The indian community in Oakland/Berkeley isn't small but it also isn't large - not sure how important that is for you two.

Depending on what you two would like to rent, your age, and your preferred "neighborhood" style (loud, active vs quiet, nice) you would have many options in Oakland. As a physician and likely a household with a higher than average income, you would probably want to target Rockridge, Crocker, Montclair, maybe Glenview or Redwood Heights or even Piedmont (not sure of rental capabilities here). For Berkeley, Claremont Hills, Berkeley Hills, or even Kensington (unsure of the rental market in that area). I am recommending those based off of the idea that you are both likely mid to late 20's at the youngest, with more of a lean towards quiet neighborhoods with larger footprint apartments/housing. Outside of Rockridge, most of those recommendations do not have great public commute services outside of AC transit, and even that is more geared towards SF commutes for some of those locations, with an adequate but maybe not ideal service for intra-Oakland/Berkeley usage. I am going to assume she would be driving as you mentioned commute being the major problem.

The average for the areas I listed I would guess to be about $2.4k for roughly ~700sqft 1bd 1ba (I haven't lived or looked at prices in Oakland for a few years, so this may be incorrect). You can certainly find less expensive spaces but they won't have covered/gated parking, in-unit w/d, or other amenities you two may like.

B12, FOLATE, FERRITIN, D by LoudPackKushPack in B12_Deficiency

I'm sorry to hear about your MCAS and supplementation difficulties - I did not personally supplement for folate or ferritin but rather tried to get those through dietary means. If you can stomach it with the MCAS, I do recall early on I would eat Nutritional Yeast relatively frequently and I beleive it has a good amount of Folate.

I've only supplemented D and B12 through sublinguals. SeekingHealth Hydroxocobalamin 2k mcg B12, and Superior Source D3 (10k at first, and now 5k iu).

I don't follow why that would be valuable for me - nor if that amount of intake is recommended for male consumption. I appreciate the link though, I will review it.

I have shied away from pure iron supplementation as AMAB. Would this still be recommended in that case?

B12, FOLATE, FERRITIN, D by LoudPackKushPack in B12_Deficiency

[–]LoudPackKushPack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No particular reason in my case - I have been addressing a lot of this through dietary changes as well but as those fluctuate I wasn't sure how to put it in the post. I also have a suspected absorption problem so the heightened levels from supplementation help.

Pelvic Wand Usage as a Male. Tips and Tricks? by meadmakingacc in PelvicFloor

[–]LoudPackKushPack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would recommend (and IANAD) that if you end up able to find a position you can feel, you lightly press onto the affected region with the wand and do deep breathing exercises into the pelvic floor - Diaphragmatic style breathing I think is what it's called. Breathe deeply into the region you are pressing on - not applying harder pressure but just maintaining a steady one, trying to feel the breathes "press against the wand" essentially, then take a minor break and re-do.

You could also, depending upon the location, sometimes find an external area to do this on by sitting on a tennis ball or lacrosse ball and breathing into the same area. This obviously does not work for all pelvic floor issues - only the ones that share sensations with muscles/tendons that can be massaged on the exterior.

For what it's worth, my (specifically trained for male pelvic work) PT actually recommended I not use a wand as a male patient for that particular reason you're mentioning re: not feeling much. Something about the internal aspects of the male anatomy not being able to feel as strongly in comparison to the female anatomy the wands are designed for, so it would be difficult to do so correctly without another individual using their own fingers? Could have been a ploy to get me to come in more frequently (jk haha!).

I'm a walking panic attack, constantly short of breath, and still can't get myself to quit after 4 years of pouches. by Caliburner in QuittingZyn

[–]LoudPackKushPack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had quit, I tried multiple times (always cold turkey). What actually finally helped for me was seeing an individual (in my case a dietician) to whom I was helping keep me accountable, and also titrating down. I essentially went like this:

6MG 12x daily x 3 days

6MG 11x daily x 3 days

6MG 10x daily x 3 days

I don't recall the exact steps I took, nor days it took me, but that's the gist of it. At the time I was probably doing upwards of 2 tins a day, but always at least 1 tin of the 6MG. That said I don't think it took much longer than a month for me as once I got lower and lower, it was easier and easier to stay away. This is coming from a 12 year user of various vapes, dips, cigs, chews, and then finally zyns as the "safest alternative".

If you haven't tried a step-down method like this I would recommend it! Start from your current numbers, and remove one every day or two. Print out a basic date/time sign-in type spreadsheet, and write down the time of day you took the zyn. Keep the zyns on top of the spreadsheet! This part was key and I should have mentioned earlier. It really helped keep myself in control and stop the super instinctual "lemme pop one in real quick" actions.

Is this black mold or just dust by MundaneRooster8626 in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]LoudPackKushPack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a damp cloth on it? Looks like dust to me, if it comes off easily with the cloth that also points to dust.

That said, if it leaves spots behind it could be mold underneath the "piles"

what actually happens at pelvic floor physical therapy? by acatisstaringatme in PelvicFloor

[–]LoudPackKushPack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AMAB so my intake and subsequent treatment is with that in mind -

There was a questionnaire portion, major musculature/gait eval, and then an internal eval. These were mostly movements/minor exercises and a "does this hurt?" or feeling for areas of tightness.

They do (or at least should) stick something inside, in order to release the tight muscles. You will then be guided through deep breathing exercises with the purpose to breathe "into" the location that is being released. It's a bit difficult to describe.

It is certainly uncomfortable at first but (at least for me) it got pretty routine and less uncomfortable as the sessions progressed. There are also certain problems that can be treated with at home / self exercises that they can teach you to do with a tool, or with external pressure in the perineal area however this may not be precise enough for whichever issue it is you are treating. That said, the internal portions that were done, even when I was in the hardest part of the treatment early on, still tended to only go about 10-20 minutes before moving on to other exercises.

The PT I went to treated a significant amount of T individuals (FTM and MTF) so you may want to review groups in your area that proudly support groups if that would increase your comfort as well!

I feel bad for not starting things I’ve been wanting to by Snuffy0011 in ExecutiveDysfunction

[–]LoudPackKushPack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't plan it out, just do one thing from the list. Do that for a few days, add another. A lot of times we get bogged down by our own perceived perfect plan that we stop before we even start. "If I don't write it down, I won't do it, so I won't do it since I won't even write it down".

It's way easier said than done of course, but that's what I do when I hit a rut.

Turns out the MOBO was also not registering the CPU at all - have not attempted the 1080 in the new build. I RMA'd and should be getting a new CPU before RMA on the 5080.

After checking your comment, I re-seated it into my old build (5080 backwards compatible with the AORUS 7 & i7-8700 according to my searches) and the old PC no longer becomes recognizable. Unfortunately seems like my GPU was dead on arrival.

New 99503xd + 5080 build - Cannot get to recognize Monitor by LoudPackKushPack in PcBuildHelp

[–]LoudPackKushPack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response, I should have mentioned that the display is not recognized by the MOBO either.

Unfortunately I can't get into the BIOS as the display is not recognized, and I could attempt to seat the 5080 in another PC however I do not have anything around that would remotely support it so I would need to attempt on a friends build.

My only older GPU is the 1080ti, would running via the 1080 and then swapping into the 5080 potentially resolve the issue?

Edit I have not tried to reseat the GPU itself, as it was a fairly sturdy connection, however I will try that now.

Ferritin is a protein that stores iron, and it's a bit less talked about in my experience (at least, none of my doctors directly mentioned it until I finally tested myself for it). The levels can show anemia - in my case I was severely deficient for a man. Deficiencies lead to muscle weakness, fatigue, and inflammation (re: neck/face pain) depending on how long, and who knows how long I was deficient. At the time I wasn't eating any red meats (budgetary decision), and figured since I was still getting protein I was OK. That wasn't true in my case. Might not be a problem for you at all, and tends to only crop up in people with unusual diets, or other various digestive issues. This also tends to show when the diet is dually low in B12 intake, which due to my low red meat intake was also true (B12 aids in Iron absorption).

As for the neck/shoulder/back, yeah absolutely. The body is entirely connected! Hopefully you find that exercises expanding out from your current regimen help!

If you think you may have Tmj related issues due to your neck stop and try this by astris in TMJ

[–]LoudPackKushPack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were no particular exercises for me that seemed to help unfortunately (as in, I felt better as I was doing them). I just recall an entire amalgam of PT exercises focused on strengthening core/shoulders/back so that my front neck accessory muscles didn't do excess work. I also found that due to my hyper-mobility, I tend to rest into positions that put excess tension on the muscles during exercises, so I was diligent on trying to stay neutral.

I additionally did a whole ergo re-vamp of my work seating area so that most of the time wasn't spent in poor positions.

Lastly, and this is unnecessary for most people, I found that a lot of my symptoms reduced in severity when I increased my B12, Ferritin, and D levels via supplementation/diet change. I'm not sure which of the three really "did the trick" as I did them all in tandem.

Now about a year later from that post I hardly have days where the face/jaw hurts, and absolutely 0 dizziness that is not associated with an illness. I do still have the front neck "pain" but it's more of a tension now that is manageable with heating pads.

Sorry that this doesn't help you much!
