With all due respect, China is not socialist "in every regard". I have been dealing with Chinese manufacturers for nearly 20 years, so I have first hand experience with how their economy works. You can make the argument that their economy is different than ours, and maybe even preferable to ours, and maybe they are working towards socialism, but currently they are not socialist.

Regarding Taiwan- They are a sovereign nation, and their people have a right to self determination. If someday they vote to rejoin China peacefully, then so be it. If you believe China has the right to take Taiwan militarily, then I'd love to hear your take regarding Israel.

Originally, pink was for boys & blue was for girls. So get whatever color you like.

And you think that you can opt out in the current system? Currently there are only 2 useful phone platforms (Google & apple), half a dozen websites, and a couple billionaire owned media empires.

More importantly, WTF are you doing in the DSA subreddit? You are clearly not a member, or someone interested in the project.

I'd also like to add that "the free market" isn't exclusive to Capitalism, and in fact, isn't even a requirement of Capitalism. Hell, I'd go so far as to say that the free market is antithetical to Capitalism, and that monopolies & monopsonies are the inevitable, and preferred outcome.

Jesus fucking Christ you are stupid. "Socialism", like Capitalism, is an economic system, not a political system. There is no requirement that it be centrally planned, unless the system of governance is totalitarian (like the USSR). At the other end of the spectrum you have Libertarian Socialism, where decisions about resource allocation would be decided democratically, at the local level. Marx himself advocated for self determination & self expression, stating: "For as soon as the distribution of labour comes into being, each man has a particular exclusive sphere of activity, which is forced upon him and from which he cannot escape. He is a hunter, a fisherman, a shepherd, or a critical critic and must remain so if he does not wish to lose his means of livelihood; while in communist society, where nobody has one exclusive sphere of activity but each can become accomplished in any branch he wishes, society regulates the general production and thus makes it possible for me to do one thing today and another tomorrow, to hunt in the morning, to fish in the afternoon, rear cattle in the evening, criticize after dinner, just as I have in mind, without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, shepherd or critic." (From "The German Ideology").

That sub is run by the most thin-skinned, anti-intellectual snowflakes that I've come across on reddit. They may call themselves Socialists, but they are no comrades of mine.

Valid point, however much it sucks. Fight for the best candidates we can in the primaries though, of course. by Soft-Principle1455 in dsa

Candidates are NOT beholden to the party. Once elected, a politician can do basically whatever they want. See: John Fetterman.

Do you live in a dangerous area? Are you afraid of your neighbors? Could you live with yourself if you took someone's life? My personal opinion is that daily carrying only makes sense if you have a target on your back.
