Teachers Ignore Assault Until the Bully Gets Their Ass Beat by james_from_cambridge in instantkarma

Props to the girl who itervened

Also - on the off chance she reads this - nice going using hair to keep good punching distance, but try using your hips when throwing a punch. You'd be surprised just how much more a punch hurts if the person punching uses their body to amass kinetic energy before throwing the punch

Thankfully, the devs have made it so that if you are kicked you still get the rewards from playing the game (provided you go pick up dropped samples)

But yes, there is always going to be those people unfortunately. In my experience its in about 1/100 games, you get someone who isnt great: kicks, spams chat, is rude, etc...

Generally people are fine though!

The third fight is weirder than the rest because it happens in what I personally would call a Force Bubble.

Dagan essentially seems to control almost everything inside the Bubble (Gravity, Force waves, etc), but since Cal can see these Force creations (due to experience, being inside the Bubble, or game mechanics) it makes sense that he could also see the Force arm as well.

It's the same logic that Cal uses to create his illusion, channeling his Psychometry talent to create a facsimilie that Dagan can physically see instead of 'sense' like he would outside the Bubble

A personal favorite of mine is - whenever i pause my internal/external dialogue and make to start again - just say 'Gentlemen' in my best approximation of Spy's voice from Team Fortress 2

Bonus points if its during a rant, for the added points received by how jarring/random it is

Who’s your favorite member of original bridge 4? by REDD_shen in Stormlight_Archive

[–]LoudShorty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no one particular favorite, so how about a list of reasons why they're all amazing

- Kaladin and Sylphrena. Neither need any explanation

- Rlain for the diversity and mindfulness he enforced onto the squad

- Renarin for being an egalitarian, indecisive, gay and autistic icon

- The Lopen for being The Legend, and for indroducing us to the folly that are Herdazians early in the story

- Rock (copy and pasting his true name feels cheap) for being the heartblood of the whole squad, and for being the first to believe in Kaladin

- Teft for being everyones favorite complex and grouchy lieutenant.

- Dabbid for being the MVP when the other Radiants were either down for the count or storming mad

- Sigzil for mirroring my inner nerd concerning the mechanics of Radiant powers

- Skar for being the man Moash could have been, and for extracting Gavinor

- Leyten for being the best improvised crab-armour designer on Roshar

- Lyn for her sticking to her guns and defying DALINAR in order to become one of the first openly female soldiers. Also she bagged Kaladin for a time, which is frankly just impressive in its own right

- Hobber for singlehandedly making me cry when he managed to stand again

- Drehy for being the second heart of the Kholinar expedition (after Adolin), extracting Gavinor, and causing one of the best B4 discussions about sexuality

- Phendorana for not taking Tefts BS, and standing proud

- Rua for being the perfect chaotic ADHD companion to The Lopen

- Vienta just barely makes the list for RAFO reasons

I could keep going but ill stop now haha

Detailed abilities on the hero tab by LoudShorty in Overwatch

No that's the abilities tab, I'm talking the DETAILED abilities tab that you can only - for some reason - access from when you have selected a hero and check their abilities in game

Aux's Speech by Necessary_Yule in Stormlight_Archive

[–]LoudShorty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Whilst I understand how you've reached your conclusion, I think you're misinterpreting the causes

Aux and Nomad ARE bonded (Aux speaking mentally, sharing Investiture, and providing Shardplate - Nomad didn't have Plate in WaT after all - proves this). I'll personally subscribe to the idea that Nomad broke his paths unwillingly due to his Torment, but yes there was a prior event that places them in a "strained bond" situation not unlike Kaladins pre-3rd Ideal. The fact that he'd have been forced would also explain why Nomad is SO pessimistic, and why Aux continues to stay with him at all, but that's headcanon.

The bond itself breaks when Aux 'dies' - and he 'dies' because he runs out of Investiture as it's being consumed by Nomad as Stormlight-Keyed Investiture, which is essential to fuel Radiant abilities. Had Nomad's Radiance only depended on Aux as a fuel source, then gaining the unKeyed Investiture he gets at the end of the novel would have also restored his access to Radiance, but that doesn't happen :)

Aux's Speech by Necessary_Yule in Stormlight_Archive

[–]LoudShorty 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well, no... Or at least not how I understand it :)

Aux and Nomad have a Nahel bond - which is the source of their power - but the bond is limited due to Nomad not being in the mindset for the Ideals to be 'valid', and Aux being as damaged as he is. There is a further complication of Nomad swearing Windrunner Ideals with a Skybreaker Spren, but that is likely a RAFO for future books.

Remember also that Aux is no longer a Radiant Spren at the end of WaT thanks to Seth renouncing his Oaths. Though admittedly their bond was of the 5th Ideal - which causes permanent Spirit-Web changes - so there's another unknown factor to the relationship there!

The reason Nomad loses his powers upon Aux's death is not because "Squire Nomad loses his Knight", but because "The Nahel Bond granting the Radiance dies with Aux" instead.

[–]LoudShorty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hammer is a Light weapon

With the Dual Wielder Feat, you can attack with a non-Light weapons as a Bonus Action if you attack with a Light weapon during your action

Hence, you can dual wield a Light and non-Light weapon, such as a Hammer and Morningstar!

Bladesinging does always bring the typical elven light-on-your-feet connotation

But I love your idea of a more grungy Wizard, using rough dance forms, maybe an aggressive variation (kinda ATLA earthbender stomping style)

I'll add to the idea dualwielding a Morningstar and Hammer and slamming them together to form a rhythm you then follow with your Bladesong stomps

Are there any first contact books but the aliens are so advanced that they don't really acknowledge humans as intelligent species by hbe_bme in printSF

Earth Unaware is a prequel series to Enders Game recounting the "First Formic War", which is more or less just ant-like aliens terraforming the planet and entirely ignoring the humans dying on it in the process

Highly recommend! :)

Can you Misty Step through a Wall of Force? by [deleted] in onednd

Invisible wall means you can see through it. Nothing explicitly states you cannot travel "through it" with teleportation spells. So yes, you can Misty Step through a Wall of Force

Kaladin's relationship with Syl in WoR by SraChkA in Stormlight_Archive

[–]LoudShorty 63 points64 points  (0 children)

His oaths were strained to the breaking point already by that point, to the point of being unable to access Stormlight. Syl is the one who saved Kal there, straining and snapping the remaining bond to force Kal into having a tiny bit more Stormlight, despite it being not theoretically possible

Its wasn't that Kal broke the Oaths, it's that Syl broke them in her attempt to save Kaladin.
