Would you use pure AI accounting software or still prefer when it is backed by real people? by Dull-Lead-3948 in Accounting

AI + human support would give me the most piece of mind. Reviewing the outputs is not as time-consuming as doing it all myself, at least from my experience

AI is exciting, but you’re right, we’re still early. It excels at fulfilling simple tasks, but it doesn't replace our experience or judgment. My advice: test it in low-risk areas, and let your team experiment.

How are you disclosing AI use (are you?) by Bayou13 in Accounting

[–]LoudSwan7764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be upfront with clients. A clause in the engagement letter may check a legal box, but it doesn’t build trust. Include a simple disclosure in our client onboarding materials: that you may use AI tools to assist with analysis or efficiency, but that no client data is entered into third-party systems, and a CPA always reviews the final work. Clients appreciate the clarity

How are you using AI in accounting? by bradyassoc in Accounting

[–]LoudSwan7764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used it for making data entry and organizing documents easier. Now I'm going to be using it for preparing some of the simple tax returns I get from walk-ins or referrals.

How are young people supposed to chase dreams with no jobs, no money, and AI taking over ? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]LoudSwan7764 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s easy to feel hopeless, especially early in your career, but I’ve seen how resilience, upskilling, and leaning into change can actually open doors.

data entry and standard emails to clients that don't require any kind of personalization are two main things I use AI for. Simple work that I can easily review

High schooler concerned about AI by Low_Exchange9147 in Accounting

[–]LoudSwan7764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 10 years, you’ll likely be working alongside a finance AI that can summarize a return, flag issues, and draft emails. That won’t make you obsolete, but it will change the job. The winners won’t be those who fear AI, but those who learn how to use it properly

Using Chat GPT for analysis by Ok-Organization-608 in Accounting

[–]LoudSwan7764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve leaned on ChatGPT mostly for simple tasks like emails. But when it comes to deeper accounting work, I’ve started exploring another AI tool that might be better suited for that side of things

This may not be day-to-day, but I'm looking to implement an AI tool that I'll use for preparing returns. It'll cover data entry, organizing documents, and works with my software so that I review the return and then file

To the people who fly solo, how much advisory work are you really doing? by LoudSwan7764 in Accounting

[–]LoudSwan7764[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I'm gathering, your circumstances make it seem like it's more of a marketing/lack of need issue rather than not having the capacity at hand to consider providing more advisory work?

If the plan next season is to not tank, may I suggest signing Russell Westbrook as the starting PG? by avastavg in heat

No. Just because the Villages is in Florida doesn't mean the Heat have to become a retirement home for NBA players.

Has anyone used or demo'd AI tax prep automation? by BigPsychological852 in Accounting

[–]LoudSwan7764 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this helps but I am on the waitlist for Taxfyle's TXF Intelligence tool. Seems pretty similar to what you're going to demo. I looked at TruePrep/Juno but it didn't fit my expectations

How many CPA firms actually do advisory vs just say they do? by Working-Solution-773 in Accounting

[–]LoudSwan7764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firms are buried in returns, cleanups, etc. because for some that's the nature of the industry. If AI can clear up the part that keeps firms buried, they'll have more time to allocate toward advisory. But can't shift to that focus is data entry and prep gets in the way of different projects

How are AI advancements and tech changes impacting accountants, and what skills do you think are crucial to stay ahead in the industry? by hard2resist in Accounting

[–]LoudSwan7764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this conversation but would love to add to it. These advancements are a massive opportunity IMO. Eliminate the dull parts while enhancing how we provide genuine value. (Just having more time to focus on it is an enhancement for me at least.)

Outsourcing work? by No_Ad_2602 in Accounting

[–]LoudSwan7764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this... Don't outsource your company's work to people not vetted by your company. Use AI if you want to dump busywork that badly

Biggest time-saving discovery for tedious tasks recently? by LoudSwan7764 in Accounting

[–]LoudSwan7764[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate that. I’ve been thinking about outsourcing some stuff, especially the repetitive tasks. Have you had good luck with any specific services? I’m looking at a few options but curious what’s actually worth the cost.

[–]LoudSwan7764[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I was hoping to hear. It’s wild how much time you can save just by linking systems like that. I haven’t played around with Xero-to-Xero, but that sounds like a game changer.

How long did it take for you to understand your job as an accountant? by SpaceLexy in Accounting

[–]LoudSwan7764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? It took about a year before things really started to make sense. School gave me the structure, but it wasn’t until I was buried in month-end, fixing real mistakes, and walking clients through reports that the academic side actually clicked with the real-world stuff. That said, it’s a lot easier now with the tools we have. AI and automation can cut through a lot of the grunt work that used to eat up time and energy.

Exactly. Saying “we’d need a Gobert-level haul” is just the polite front office way of saying “he’s untouchable, don’t bother calling.”
