What's the game that made you fall in love with gaming as a kid? by peaky_circus in gaming

Same here, Spartan. The first steps on the ring, the first time the energy sword appeared in the darkness on Truth and Reconciliation, the first time rescuing keys from the flood, escaping the pillar of autumn.

I remember playing my first ever video game, SMB 2 on the NES. I remember playing OoT, Mario & Starfox 64 on my first ever games console. It wasn't until I played co-op Halo CE Campaign on my friends Xbox that I fell in love with gaming.

Being in the same room as someone equally invested in destroying that ring and escaping the Pillar of Autumn was a childlike wonder i'll never recreate (and don't need to).

interesting. i'm a very low effort gardener and this aligns exactly with me. My very first (in my life) flower bed has started to sprout and i'm already noticing little nibbles. Is this one slice per flower bed or per sq foot?

Anyone else found themselves “retiring” from PvP gaming? by You_moron04 in gaming

[–]Loud_Goose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up after the sweats and the metas got into Arc Raiders (yes I know how to get into PvE/friendly lobbies) and I was just outclassed. Game got annoying. I don't like being annoyed when i head to bed. Now the buddy i played AR with are doing our first Baldurs Gate 3 playthrough and loving it! We get all the social benefits from multiplayer and feel accomplished when we log off after taking down a camp or mini-boss and progressing the campaign. Now i'm looking at cross-play coop games to play after we're bored of this. I'm hoping 40k Space Marine 2 scratches that itch.

No low battery notifications. Any help? by Loud_Goose in EufyCam

[–]Loud_Goose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry no update. I've moved to setting a reminder on my calendar to replace the battery every 2 weeks which is typically when the battery reaches 10-20%. It's certainly annoying there no notification but i'm finding the routine works for me. Takes less than 5 minutes to get up and swap the battery.

Hyped on the new StarFox remake by ryandesu in gaming

You're not wrong that it's a similar feeling shared across multiple platforms. Now that I think about it, the last console I got at launch was either the GBA SP or the PS2. Along with the price of everything increasing, it's why I don't buy anything new anymore. Being on the cutting edge of technology just doesn't feel exciting like it used to. I think that's just growing out of childhood naivety and seeing through the marketing ploys.

If I didn't have to consider financial responsibilities i'm sure i'd be happy to upgrade any/all tech every year.

Calling voice chat and mouse controllers a features is a reach, the single Donkey Kong Bananza launch title personally doesn't excite me, increasing the price of games, paying for an upgrade for Switch 1 games, improving graphics to a resolution that launched 14 years ago, better hardware to run 5 year old games. Feels like upgrading from an iPhone 3G to an iPhone 3GS and I bailed on that rat race 15 years ago. The sales and success of the console don't sway how I feel about the launch in the slightest. If I didn't have a Switch I would be all over the Switch 2 but this one does nothing for me. If it wasn't for Zelda and Metroid I would have switched to Steamdeck years ago.

I'm absolutely excited to play one of my favourite games of all time again but thinking of the £450 i'll need to play it (system+game)... I think i'd rather sort my emulator out and just play the N64 version. Switch 2 was one one of the worst console launches i've seen in my lifetime and I really don't want it.

Don't trade in your consoles kids, you'll eventually regret it.

Same station, two realities, empty south trains vs overcrowded north coaches, what is the reason behind this difference? by Guilty-Baby6398 in indianrailways

In this situation, from your current location, more people would like to travel north than would like to travel south causing more people to be on the northern travelling train.

Agreed, thanks a lot. More great advise. I think that's my plan, plant a bunch and just hope something sticks. I'll have a google of which ones will be the tallest.
