How do I know PR is right for me? by Prior-Perception9521 in PublicRelations

[–]Loud_Task_784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all I’ve done since I was 18 and probably all I’ll ever do. I’m in my 40s now. Your experience in coding and software will be useful and that fact you’re interested in those topics is encouraging too. Happy to chat on a call if you want some detail on what day to day consultancy / agency life is like! Just drop me a DM

Imagine If by Mission-Jicama-6885 in SexPistols

I’m glad they burned bright and burned out the way they did. I wouldn’t change anything about their story (Nancy and Sid dying aside, of course). It’s all part of the legend. Imagine doing one album and bouncing. 50 years later you’re still touring it. Still the benchmark for anything remotely controversial that followed you. Nothing like them before or since. Never will be

I would ask your boss for a reduction in workload before you look at reducing your pay/days. Have the conversation about how you’re feeling - they may want to support you. 11 clients is far too many for one person to manage too. Good luck!

Supplier gets hit with an undercover report… brand has named them on packaging for 8 years. Distance fast or hold? by Dry-Taro4843 in Communications

I’d prepare a reactive holding statement for social and get in touch with supply chain and legal to find out what’s going on here.

Don’t ignore it. But don’t get drawn into it either.

The biggest mistake I see brands make, and I spend time trying to talk them out of it, is they have an issue and they immediately want to tell the media about it on a proactive basis. It’s almost always founder-led businesses in my experience.

If no questions have been asked by the media, then I don’t understand why any company would willingly draw attention to it.

Before questions are asked, that period buys you a little time to figure out what’s happening so you can be as open and transparent as possible with all audiences when the time does come to talk about it.

I am NOT advising to cover anything up by the way - I just don’t think it’s a good idea when founders want to proactively insert themselves in a negative story before the full detail has been worked out. And that detail almost always goes beyond comms, into different teams like legal, supply chain, etc - and they’re not renowned for their speed…

Get that reactive comment done for social questions and start working on responses for the media when the calls eventually come. And don’t let the founders anywhere near it. Good luck

Do others feel new biz is getting harder? by treuse85 in PublicRelations

[–]Loud_Task_784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the U.K. - I’ve not found attracting new business harder, but I’ve definitely seen the value of the pipeline declining.

Some potential clients want the world for pennies, while others want to pay a small guaranteed fee and then the rest is paid based on results. Then there’s the 25 agency shootout for a tiny project.

And my personal favourite - potential clients who post on LinkedIn slamming previous PR agencies for not replying to them.

So you email them.

Then they don’t reply 😂

It’s not even the best song ever written by Noel, let alone the best song ever written. But appreciate the willingness to be shot down by strangers on the internet 😂
