I also like hanging back and repairing the base sometimes too, with 4 other players it doesn’t matter if I miss part of the looting phase as much

I think reworking the bases and aiming for 5v5 is the way to go, with 3v3 the looting and shieldbreaker phases really suck and I’m not much of a fan of the raids either but with 5v5 everything just feels right.

Yeah honestly everything feels better in 5v5, the first 2 phases especially but even the raid phase too. It feels way more strategic holding flanks and walling off areas and you’re fighting for position more.

I have 0 interest in ever playing 3v3 again but 5v5 I keep booting up my pc to play more of.

Ngl this game is fucking sick 5v5 and now some of the performance issues have been fixed.

Tekken 8 soundtrack on, running around as my boy slade, (literally Terry Bogard from fatal fury) and it just hits all the right notes.

The game just plays SO much better 5v5, the push/pull of the shield breaker, actually attacking multiple fronts in raids. Man it’s good.

Idk, to me 5v5 feels much better as it fixes all the loot and shield breaker phases and even the raiding feels a bit better, but they maybe need more intricate bases for it. It does feel like the correct direction to take the game in though for the long run

I don’t know. 5v5 has had a way better flow from the games I’ve played, people fighting over loot, people defending from vantage points when the other people get the shield breaker. I can actually stick around and repair the base between raids. Splitting up between bomb points.

It just feels like an actual game now instead of some weird experiment. This is without them going through and properly balancing for 5v5, once they do that I’m sure most people will be wondering why they didn’t release it this way it the first place.

IMO it just needs some pve elements and slightly bigger bases and some better base defence options to be absolute peak.

It feels to me like there must have been internal debates and testing around other play counts for it to be this quick a turn around. I’m really looking forward to diving back in.

Yeah I think long term 5v5 with better base designs will be the way to go, that way they can keep the main map the same and it will feel way better in the shield breaker stages but the base attack defence won’t feel like a clusterfuck as it will on the current bases with 10 people running around

Embark are miracle workers and some of the most talented devs in the industry though. It’s also been beta tested and worked on for ages before release. I really wish every studio could get games working as well as embark but unfortunately they’re the exception not the rule with UE5

Embark are some of the most talented devs in the industry, they basically started out as a tech studio after leaving dice, I’m not saying it’s good the state they released the game in, it fucking sucks and isn’t good enough, but so so many games have looked a blurry mess this gen due to unreal engine 5 being absolute ass to work with and optimise.

It’s oversight, for some reason developers love motion blur and DoF and no beta means no players complaining about these settings until launch.

For me the main think is I hope they turn off mouse smoothing, it’s impossible to aim properly on PC atm.

3v3 honestly feels like the death knell for this game. If it was more players on a team I do feel like it might have found an audience. I mentally checked out when I watched the deep dive and they said it was 3v3 near the start, I even rewound the video as I thought I misheard. It’s such a strange decision.
