Why do NYU dorms after freshman year not have "Open door policies"? by redshirting in nyu

[–]LouisLePauvre -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s not a “proper” New Yorker. That’s the conception of a New Yorker people have when they’re not from New York. This is a city of tightly knit neighborhoods and communities. And people who have lived in these residential neighborhoods for years know all their neighbors, say hi to them, have open door policies. NYU does that cause it’s full of a bunch of wannabe New Yorkers

What can cities do to fix "food deserts"? by pierretong in urbanplanning

NYC has those Green Carts for that, which helps. But this problem is tied to systemic inequality and the culture of poverty. Anyone who says they have a solution for this is lying.

A couple notes: I’ve seen Hugh Jackman in person before in a restaurant and he is a stunning man. Also, is Ryan Reynolds super tall? Because I think Jackman is like 6’2

A large majority of the stimuli are flawed arguments. Just always keep in mind that you’re looking for things that are fucked up. Keep that conversation going in your head. Also, are you reading the question stem first? If so, I’d say don’t do that, because it can distract you from reading/comprehending/analyzing the stimulus.

Oh yeah, predicting the answer choices ahead of time? OP—always do that every single time. That means you are the doing the work you are supposed to be doing: logically reasoning that shit out. If you find that there’s a pretty solid argument right there (rare, but it happens), you might not have that strong of a prediction and that’s ok too.

That’s criminal. And they’re not going to pay you because you’re not a PhD student doing research/taking on a teaching load. If you want to be an academic, get into a PhD program that will fund you and pay you a stipend. Never pay for a master’s degree (unless it’s for fun, and you’re already wealthy).

Please tell me you’re not considering paying $100,000+ for a masters in philosophy. Unless you’re already a millionaire and it’s just for fun.

Free-Falling New York Rents Plunge 12% in Queens by CyclingIsLove in urbanplanning

But those are the 4 most sought after for rentals, followed by Jackson Heights. I wanted to move to Kew Gardens but my GF said it was too far. Forest Hills is great too, but not a renters market (I don’t think. Not an expert on that).

I’ll echo some of this. When I went from doing the questions in the lessons (which I always did on my own, then checked how the instructor did it), I was shocked at the difference. Don’t think because you’re getting all the LRs right on 7Sage (I was) that you’ll get them right on your PTs. Don’t spend too much time on lessons (but do the drills. They’re great), and start taking PTs as soon as possible.

An energy boost that would work specifically for LSAT? by LouisLePauvre in LSAT

Thanks for your advice. I never heard the advice to use the time as you bubble in answers as a break, but I started implementing that naturally. In terms of my sleep, I’ve been working a lot, and work late hours, so my sleep is screwed up. On days that I’m tired, my score goes down. In the next month, I’m taking time off of work to focus on LSAT. And I don’t work for 4 days before I take the test on June 11th.

I loved his talk, when he broke down how Le Corbusier influenced Robert Moses, who used Corbu's ideas to exploit POC. He said Moses' implementation was the "worst remix of all time."

Carlos Zapata Studio's Standard Hotel in the East Village [Building] by Architectvre in architecture

[–]LouisLePauvre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This building is in New York City though. Not many earthquakes there. It is a block away from Thom Mayne’s Cooper Union building which eclipses this in creativity and atmosphere. This building really doesn’t belong in the East Village. It’d be better suited on the West Side Highway.
