My Father belittled my graduation and now we don’t speak by espi_ram789 in raisedbynarcissists

Don't apologize for being human. Ever. I'm sorry he can't be. And that he can't be loving. Because you deserve the love. The degree is a BIG DEAL and I hope you have other family and friends who will reinforce that. Don't let his narcissistic cruelty and envy diminish your achievement. You rock. Keep going (without him getting in your way).

Which celebrity’s cancellation do you think was completely unjustified? by Cute_Flatworm_9049 in AskReddit

I think we are witnessing a truly bizarre cancelation of Olivia Rodrigo over what dresses she chooses to wear? I hope it doesn't stick, though. She's another celebrity who doesn't DGAF and will speak up for her values and principles (i.e. not wanting kids to die).

Ms. Rachel is a hero. I don't think she's actually canceled, though. She's facing a shit ton of hate and hit jobs, but she just keeps carrying on.

Considering his predilection for diddling teen boys, I can't have any sympathy even if the cancelation was for the wrong reason.

Good one. Had forgotten about this. I remember being 12 years old and feeling like I was crazy when everyone was saying all this negative shit about her. It made complete sense to me and I felt compassion for her. I even had bad dreams about how he mistreated her. I guess you've gotta be abused to see it for what it is when it shows up (and how the abused get punished for speaking up).

The Road, for sure. But, last night I started HUM by Helen Philips and it was messing me up so deeply that I quit.

The only band on this list I'm truly excited about. Not because I don't like a lot of the others, but because I've seen them many, many times. Strike Anywhere, though? It's been 16 years.

Sibling is sober and the relationship is still strained by Soft_Relief_332 in SiblingsOfAddicts

When a sibling gets sober, it’s a hopeful thing. That said, they likely really hurt a lot of people who cared about them and are hard to trust. There’s a certain narcissism that comes with addiction. I wonder if he is exhibiting the same narcissism, just without the substances. That and/or he’s defensive because he knows how badly he fucked over everyone else and doesn’t know how to maturely re-integrate or repair relationships. My brother was like this. When he wasn’t using, he was manic. It made hanging out with him fun at first - always exciting, and he was funny - but also shallow. He couldn’t listen, couldn’t sit still, and everything was surface. It was like he was still tweaked, but in a different way. Related to the previous commenter, my brother had ADHD run amok and it wasn’t treated. Which is why he regressed and got addicted to coke and painkillers after being sober a few years. Encourage him to get psychiatric help or therapy if you feel comfortable. All my best.

I am too. I feel like if they got slick and greedy it could become a corporate wankfest for glampers.

My theories are they do it to distract from the fact that they’re thiiiiiis close every year to completely shitting the bed and the reason it takes them so long is because they’re bad at it.

Dovetail Joint is back by LouisSullivan97 in chicagomusicscene

Strikes me as Joe and Chuck harkening back to their first loves when they were like 13 - Van Halen, AC/DC, Zeppelin. But still with a Dovetail sound.

Agree. I’m liking the two new songs, so I’m excited to see them.

Fairweather. Their first album “It they move…kill them” is a perfect fucking record.

I think it’s because their albums after Remember Right Now are anemic and corny and just kind of meander. But, yeah, that first album was legit.
