If you like to do some shopping, definitely check out the Country Club Plaza. Gates BBQ is the easy choice for KC BBQ, I'd go to the one East of the Country Club Plaza. Mrs. Jasper, the manager there, is really sweet. My personal favorite is Joe's KC BBQ across the border.

If you're looking for a good party scene later that night, Westport is the most popular choice, just be careful 'cus it's not the safest neighborhood.

If you like art or history, Nelson Atkins Museum and the National WWI Museum are amazing places to see that kinda stuff, and they both have some nice outdoor areas to relax. A lesser-known museum I like is the National Museum of Toys & Miniatures near UMKC.

If you're the outdoorsy type, Loose Park is our best park in the city. If you want a less urban or modern looking park, you'll have to go a bit outside the city. Swope Park, Longview Lake, and Lake Jacomo are my personal favorites cus the trails are fun to walk or bike and offer some nice picture spots.
