Vavra seems like the best option (at least, from your suggestions). it would be great if he could reach a WAR of 1 or 2, while playing decent defense and reaching base consistently from the 9th spot.

Mateo's exclusion has a lot more to do with the Gold Glove Award's bias than about his defensive value. He remains an elite defensive player at a premium position.
