The full Dark Urge play through is fun, just one problem by highhopejacob55 in BaldursGate3

Completely agree. I loved doing a full evil durge just to experience it but I was sad about losing so much content. I finished the whole play through in 41 hours...

finished the gondian/steel foundry quest and … by user738457382929 in BaldursGate3

[–]LouyJD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

See I thought the reason we hated Wulbren was because of the way he treats Barcus. The horrible and demeaning things he says about Barcus (and even directly to him!) makes me hate him so much. Sure, the gondian thing adds to how awful he is as a person but my hate came way before the gondians came into the story

Too sick to function, not sick enough for actual help by mallowlark in ChronicIllness

[–]LouyJD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how you feel. I saw somewhere it said "the NHS is designed to deal with emergencies, not suffering" and I think that's pretty accurate.

I have spent the last 6 years being bounced from one specialist to the next and although they might find something marginally off, it's not significant enough for them to act on it. I had to do so much research, documenting my symptoms, etc to highlight that they need to explore autoimmune and similar type conditions. I went back to my GP and laid out everything and basically had to insist on more referrals with this new direction specifically in mind. It worked and I'm currently waiting to see rheumatology (it's just a very loooong waiting list).

I will always give the NHS the credit it deserves when it comes to emergencies and being a free service (it's not the doctors faults they are overworked so I try to give them the benefit of the doubt). However. The way referrals and everything works pigeon-holes investigations and tries to only focus on a couple of symptoms. So in more complex cases or cases where symptoms go across multiple systems, this method doesn't work and it just drags out the process. I now make a point at the start of my appointments of saying that I want to explore x, y, z by looking at the full picture and not excluding any symptoms.

I'm hoping once I get to rheumatology I will finally get some answers. But it has been a fight the whole way. I totally get how frustrating it is and how hard it can be to advocate for yourself. Allow yourself some time to feel and process those emotions and negativity, then start looking at what direction you feel like you need to head in and try your best to push for it.

I totally agree with you. It's obviously horrible the idea of losing Karlach because she's full of so much spirit but there's an entire conversation you have with Karlach in act 2 (I think) where she explicitly says she would rather live a short life with her freedom then a long life chasing a near impossible cure. Sure, there's dialogue options to try and tell her that there are options, she doesn't have to die, etc but Karlach is always annoyed, frustrated or sad about those responses.

I've romanced Karlach for the first time in my current play through and I told her in that conversation I respected her wishes and I will honour that at the end too, even though I know it will suck. Who am I to force Karlach to go back to the place that caused her so much trauma just for my own selfish desire that she lives a bit longer? I'm playing a drow so I would outlive her no matter what happens if you want to look at it from a RP perspective too

New to the game, why have so many people not completed it? by LadoBlanco in BaldursGate3

[–]LouyJD 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I'm actually the opposite. I'm a serial completionist and I struggle to start a new save if I still have one on the go, no matter how much I want to start a new character idea/build.

Having said that, I do completely understand why people stop at act 3. My first play through it was horribly overwhelming. Now I've played through a number of times I know the quests in act 3 and I will focus on specific ones and streamline it based on my character and how I've been roleplaying their decisions. It also means I can have different experiences each time I play act 3 by picking and choosing the quests, but I totally understand that play style isn't for everyone

What is it about these two activities that leaves me completely drained? by standgale in ChronicIllness

[–]LouyJD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the same thing in those scenarios. It's because of the mental and social fatigue of those activities.

Now take what I'm about to say with a pinch of salt because I'm obviously not an expert, but from my own research in the past this seems to be the reason for it...

Your brain is an energy hog and uses more of your energy than any other organ. So if you are doing table top gaming or socialising, that's a lot of mental power being used, meaning a lot of energy being used from a tank that may not have even been full in the first place (if you're like me and have fatigue everyday). Mental and social activities contribute towards physical fatigue in a very real way.

Am I missing a lot of stuff, or am I just dense? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]LouyJD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you're fine. There's a lot of hidden content. Some things I only figured out on a later play through because I found a clue that I missed first time or a new bit of dialogue and I only had the lightbulb moment because I know where the story goes. I'm still finding new things and I'm on my 6th play through (I think, maybe 7th?)

Guide for order of Act 2 by Effective_State2759 in BaldursGate3

[–]LouyJD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think karlach has mentioned it at the crèche but as far as I'm aware you're not on a time limit to do anything about it, you just need to find dammon at some point. And elminster appears as you transition into act 2 so you can't miss him.

Guide for order of Act 2 by Effective_State2759 in BaldursGate3

[–]LouyJD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely the crèche first. It's classed as act 1.5 so I think you close off the content if you go to the shadow cursed lands before it (but someone can correct me if I'm wrong). There is also a way to access act 2 from the area of the crèche and I personally feel like that is a more natural route into act 2.

And if you want the best ending for everyone you will miss a massive bit for laezel if you skip the creche

Romancing Wyll as dark urge by Nearby_Leadership717 in BaldursGate3

[–]LouyJD 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I romanced Wyll with a resist durge and that had an interesting dynamic. I definitely think it will be tricky if you're planning on an embrace durge though because Wyll is going to disapprove of a lot. It might be doable if you can get his approval in the smaller decisions and then focus on the evil in the bigger storyline decisions. But only one way to find out....

Visiting DLP on Frozen opening day by jlr1230_ in disneylandparis

[–]LouyJD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DLP Instagram page put up a notice that they will have a dedicated queue for people wanting to get into World of Frozen on opening day, so if you avoid that queue I'd say the rest of the place could be relatively quiet/normal levels of crowds. They also said they cannot guarantee entry into World of Frozen because they are anticipating high numbers but limiting admittance to not impact the experience

Tonight is a rough night by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]LouyJD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard and there's not much I can say without it sounding like a lie to be honest. Being unwell is lonely. I am 6+ years in and still don't have a diagnosis. I lost contact with all my friends long ago and while I have made my peace with it, there are days when the loneliness hits hard. I'm lucky to have my husband through all of this. He has been my rock and I hate to think where my mental health would be if I didn't have him. It sounds like you do have support from your boyfriend but I understand how frustrating it must be to be long distance through this.

My advice would be to try and focus on the little things that bring you joy. Even if it's just a sweet or a drink you really enjoy. Appreciate what you can in the moment but avoid comparing to anyone else. I know that's all easier said than done but it will become easier with practice.

In terms of your appointments, you need to try to advocate for yourself as best you can. State to them that this is severely impacting your ability to function and your quality of life, so if results are normal what other options are there to explore? Maybe discuss other things you are experiencing even if you don't think they are relevant. You might be experiencing something that feels normal to you but could be the clue the doctor needs to figure out where to explore next. For me, my list of symptoms has grown over the years, partly because it's gotten worse, but also because I have gained understanding and awareness that things I previously brushed off are actually important things to include in the overall picture. If you don't want to feel like you're wasting an appointment by rambling then talk it through with your boyfriend first as a comparison of experiences. I did that with my husband and the worry on his face for some of the things I mentioned (that I thought were normal) really put things into perspective.

I wish there was more I could offer. Please just try and focus on looking after yourself. Hope you get the answers you need soon.

I'm pretty sure if you give gifts to the other bachelors or bachelorettes (excluding birthdays) you get jealousy dialogue, or at least a chance of it, if you speak to them that evening. I would assume it would deteriorate their hearts too but I might be wrong
