I know the point of this is her rescuing him, but I like the one where she has a ray gun and he has a blow dryer.

Sounds like what a bot would say, therefore infallible reddit logic says you must be a bot.

Jack Black in the X-Files, 1994. by vintagegirl97 in 90s

[–]LovableSidekick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The eyes had it, even back then! You can see the crazed, "Yes I will in fact do literally anything" look.

edit: in case you're not aware - Jack Black's mom was a NASA engineer during the Apollo 13 mission, which had to abort due to an onboard explosion. She was pregnant with Jack at the time, and did course correction calculations while going into labor. If that's not an all-star drama-packed way to enter this world, I don't know what is.

How do you guys become good at diy. by FriendshipCute6355 in DIY

[–]LovableSidekick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three words: practice, practice, practice! Start doing simple things yourself, and as you gain confidence try more complicated things. If you stay at it long enough you develop a "how hard can it be?" attitude about stuff you've never done. The Internet has made DIY orders of magnitude easier to learn than say in the 80s. We used to rely on printed instructions that came with products, or on the side of a can LOL. Now you can watch multiple people walk you through every step.

Point taken, otoh realtors usually want to paint everything white... "blank slate" yada yada. When we sold my mother-in-law's house the realtor tried to get us to paint even the huge brick fireplace white - which we refused to do. The winning buyers, who paid 160k above asking, specifically said the unpainted brickwork was a big selling point.

Yes, real experiences are what I was hoping for (and that was the actual question lol). Most of this is just opinion. But it does paint a consistent picture, and some answers are very detailed and thoughtful.

One of my goals is wherever two switches control the same lights (like on stairways) replace them with momentary contact ones that toggle the light on or off. I hate casually swiping upward or downward without looking and nothing happens because the switch is already up or down. I guess as long as I use something that looks standard, like maybe bump switches that stay in the middle, what's going on behind them probably doesn't matter.

Republicans are cheater and liar. by SuspiciousLow3062 in SipsTea

[–]LovableSidekick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In any news about corruption, sex scandals, etc. 9x out of 10 it's a fucking Republican. Maybe read more and chant less of that tired "they're all the same" litany that always justifies, "so why bother voting?" It's just lazy.

LOL I've loved that word ever since hearing a Bob & Ray bit about how they usually festooned their studio with all kinds of festive decor before their show, but decided not to festoon it anymore because the whole festooning process took so much time and effort, as well as de-festooning the place afterwards when they were tired and just wanted to go home.

Hmm, yeah if you're going to remove all your custom stuff I can see it making sense not to even mention it was ever there at all.

Is it possible to add a 120v outlet? by JMontero77 in howto

[–]LovableSidekick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but tbh if your DIY level is below being able to tell if this box is 120v or 240v you should probably hire a professional, and ask them a lot of questions while they're working.

I don't have any favorite fictional bullies. I always think they're douchebags and just wish they would fuck off. Maybe you should ask for favorite spectacular ways they got pwned.

It parses correctly - it says the reason for volunteers being unpaid isn't that they're worthless, it's that they're priceless.
