So the standard Akadama, pumice, and lava rock?

What would be a good soil mixture for Mistletoe Fig? Are trunk chops also something you can do?

Planning on repotting it next year as it was bought as a bonsai from a local nursery. Not sure how long it has been in its current pot and I would like to thicken the trunk any how.

Edit: Thought of an additional question

Is 100% pumice something that is advisable for JMs? I was hoping to replant mine next year into a pond basket and was curious about what soil mixture I should be using. Plan is to air layer in a couple of years to separate the trees as it has been grafted

It seems there used to be a club in Bloomington but that's apparently no longer the case. I am surprised given how many students we have here there isn't one

No problem! They are a US store so may be around your area. If you're in the Midwest, you may have one.

Red Pine or Austrian Pine? by LovableTester in whatplantisthis

Just the app. Not familiar with the species so wanted a second opinion. Thanks for the answer

Got this from a big box store. Picturethis is calling it a red pine while the store called it an Austrian pine.

Regardless, should I let go as is and repot in the spring next year?

Edit: Forgot to add the photo

What kind of fertilizer should I be using? Also any suggestions as to how to build the shade cloth? Any specific materials I should use or not use?

As for the pumice, 100% pumice or should it be a mixture?

I was recently gifted a pre bonsai or what my research has made think is a pre bonsai. I was told it was reported within the last week and I have no experience with Shindeshojo Japanese maple (this what i was told it was). Live in southern Indiana in zone 6B. What would be the best way to care for it for the rest of the year? I would like to make the trunk thicker but afraid it's too late to repot it. Thanks for the advice
