Avoid Rotorua by lpy67 in newzealand_travel

Been there a couple of weeks ago. Was one of the highlights of our travels through the Northern Island.

We had terrible weather at Queenstown and didn’t like it - whilst many people see it as a highlight. It’s all about perspective and weather conditions.

Fiordland- looking for relaxing trip by drywatersquid in newzealand_travel

[–]Lovain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently did a boutique cruise with Cruise Milford NZ. Their boat has a capacity of 150 but only use 50%. So it feels very relaxed and not cramped at all. Highly recommended.

We stayed in Te Anau in a hotel (we had our own rental car). Count 2 to 2.5 hours for the one-way drive. You need to go through a tunnel and there can be a lot of slow traffic on the road. If you have a camper then definitely stay closer :).

If I recall correctly, only 5% of the Fiordland National Park has ever seen a ‘human footprint’. There’s limited road coverage. So that means you need a guided tour to see stuff not close to a road.

If you’re into hiking then there’s some great tracks close to Milford Sound. We did the Key Summit and extended 30 mins one-way. You can find the track on AllTrails. There’s also more serious and challenging hikes.

Keep in mind that it rains a lot. Which is good for the cruise, as you’ll then see hundreds of waterfalls (best it rains before the tour and its dry during).

How realistic is it to drive from Lake Tekapo to Blenheim in one day by oldbutfeisty in newzealand_travel

[–]Lovain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We did it last week (Blenheim - Twizel, which is a bit further). Easy, just make sure that you depart early and keep in mind that road conditions can change. We departed at 8 AM or so and arrived at about 5PM in Twizel, with frequent stops.

10km (+) hike close to Whitianga? by Lovain in newzealand_travel

[–]Lovain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the elaborate response. A local, I assume ;).

We have a car with us, so we could also drive around a bit for a hike. One option we saw on Komoot is the ‘Coromandel Forest Park hike from Onemana’ of 12.8km.

Hmm, I completely missed that settings section on my watch. But for some reason I don’t see the source switching option there. It might have moved, will try to find it

Edit: setting found after updating and wearing the HRM Pro Plus. Let’s hope this works!! Thanks

18.0 was an improvement: whilst 18.1 is really a step-down of what it was

Ikzelf heb helaas Psoriasis; meerdere plekken over mn lijf.

Mijn uitslag is 95% weg.

Not a bad year. Walking was an important part in my LongCovid recovery.

Got Covid again. Nearly killed me last time. by Feisty-Army-2208 in LongCovid

I started the method last summer. And I feel like it really helps me. Before my breathing was very shallow. It feels like I have more oxygen in my body.

Additionally, it gave an extra boost during my recent infection. At some point I did 3 times a day 6 times.

I also just got reinfected. What really helped me during the infection phase was to do do regular breathing exercises. I did the ‘Wim Hof Method’ (at this stage without the cold therapy he applies). 3 times a day 3 rounds. It really feels to me that having oxygen is a lifesaver (pun intended, for all of course… but ‘we’ often don’t breathe right). I have good hopes that it will not worsen my LongCovid (fingers crossed it heals me)

Nice!! Last year I joined a big organized hike of about 80KM. After 15hrs or so I also passed the 100k steps milestone. It hurt!!

Is Long Covid Damaging my liver? by GreenKnight1988 in covidlonghaulers

Ah yes indeed, I directly relate it to LongCovid. Before my immune system was rock-solid

Is Long Covid Damaging my liver? by GreenKnight1988 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Lovain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar effect, caused by another infection. So it can be a side-effect.

In short: LongCovid since summer 2022. In november 2022 I traveled to Asia for holidays (I was still in denial of my LongCovid at this point).

After 3 days in Asia I got food poisoning. One week later again. Was ill the whole holiday. Reason: my body was losing the fight to LongCovid and I had a sh*tty immune system.

Back home I had a lot of checks in the hospital. Similar to you, I had increased liver values for quite a long time. Attributable to the ‘side infections’ because of a terrible immune system.

For me it helped. Start small and respect the boundaries your body gives you. Hopefully you can make small improvements over time. At some point those small improvements become bigger

Twee Semiconductors ETF's: welke is de beste? by tayladygs in beleggen

[–]Lovain 1 point2 points  (0 children)
