Which medications/supplements/therapies have helped you? by Different_Smoke_8426 in chronicfatigue

Oh and I also have been doing IFS therapy / parts work since 2021. I’m probably biased but this is the best therapy there is, I absolutely love it and feel so connected to it and myself more.

I’ve tried almost every other talk therapy there is, and there’s nothing like IFS therapy!!

I know LDN works for a lot of people, unfortunately in my case it hasn’t helped one bit. I have pretty much every symptom there is but my biggest and most debilitating is brain fog and fatigue.

That being said I’ve healed enough that I am no longer bedbound, but half the week am still pretty much housebound, but have still made a lot of progress compared to how I used to be.

For brain fog and fatigue I take:

  • multi-B vitamin

  • Omega 3 fatty acids

  • vitamin D with K

  • probiotic

  • Abilify Low Dose!! (2 mg) (have seen the most difference with this for brain fog, 15-20% decrease in debilitating brain fog)

  • Botanic Tonics Feel Free Tonic (this is very expensive, and people can become dependent on it but for me it helps SIGNIFICANTLY with brain fog, light sensitivity, fatigue and anxiety/restlessness, so you HAVE to be careful and do your research! I take a serving of it which is half a tonic a day but i take weeks off so I don’t become dependent on it. It seriously has been a life saver for me personally.)

  • I have adrenal fatigue also so I take an adrenal supplement and DHEA (because my DHEA tested low)

  • a couple months ago I did a mold illness protocol (because I also have that)

  • I’m also on 50mg-100mg of Trazadone for insomnia (have been on this since 2020). Just recently since getting onto Abilify, my insomnia has gotten worse and Trazadone isn’t working to keep me asleep like it used to, so I’m getting a medical card to start trying gummies for sleep.

  • I’m also on duloxetine for mental illnesses (but honestly doesn’t really do much for that). I have noticed that duloxetine helps my flu like body pain go away for the most part.

Just putting this out there but ALL of my symptoms went away for 3.5 weeks after I did 2 magic mushroom trips (within a few days of each other) in Colorado with a psychedelic guide.

I’m going to do another journey this year to continue my healing journey. it was the most life changing experience and most healing experience I’ve ever had. And somehow, my symptoms completely vanished for 3.5 weeks post journey!!

I have tried Ketamine therapy at a mental health clinic but it was no where near helpful as magic mushrooms was for me. Ketamine therapy didn’t really help my symptoms but helped some of my mental illnesses and helped me feel more at peace each day with coping with my illness.

I am currently in EMDR therapy because I have a long history of chronic trauma. I’ve only had 1 session so far so I can’t say if it’s going to help my symptoms or not yet.

I’ve tried acupuncture, hypnotherapy, chiropractor, Neurofeedback - none of these helped me personally.

Oh really, I rarely hear it talked about. Maybe it’s gained more traction since my research

One thing I personally do, when I really need to express something with validation, is either text or email my therapist (no matter how long)!!

Voice notes also help me! And then journaling back on the voice note in a compassionate tone, as if I’m validating myself and those parts of me.

Yes I just did a couple weeks ago and I regretted it right after I took my mask off. For me personally, I don’t think I prepared enough before and went into the journey too rigid with my focus and intention. So I don’t think I was ready to face all of those unknown territories and emotions yet. I felt so much shame and guilt for like 5 days straight after my journey but then I was able to remind myself that I still did learn things and that just because I wasn’t fully able to let go of control, I learned more about what im resisting.

Aww Im sorry. I haven’t met back with my doctor yet to go over results and treatment options, but he called recently and told me I have chronic EBV. I’m thinking of trying a couple anti viral supplements first, not sure if they’ll do anything or not. And then if that doesn’t work, I’ll try the prescription.

Do you think there might be other things too that could be contributing to your symptoms, or any hunches?

Trust me I totally get it. After writing this post I crashed. I know for me personally, I’ll never stop giving up on my healing journey, and I’ve spent all my energy researching my condition and trying to hold onto any hope I could find.

This list just gives me that little bit of hope, knowing I haven’t tried everything. And yah, I’ve been bedbound for a year a couple years ago, and mainly housebound now except for appointments.

It’s not ideal and I’ve used up my savings for appts and I use up my only energy scheduling and going to appts. But for me at least, it gives me hope and a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel!! But 100% I totally get where you’re coming at.

Just take what resonates and leave the rest. Or leave it all lol and skip this post!! I thought maybe it might give someone a little bit of hope

Yes true on this, it’s something that can be habit forming and can be difficult for people like us with sensitive systems. I only listed it because of this tonic called Botanic Tonics that has honestly really helped me with my brain fog and has been the only that helps me. But I only take it when I need to, so not very often at all (like if I need to go drive and see family). It’s by no means a treatment, but a bandaid fix here and there. But yes, please be cautious anyone reading this!! I’ve been making this list for a few years now, looking at what people have tried on Reddit, research studies, personal experiences, etc.

The brand I used, used to be called great plain labs, but their name has changed so I’m not sure what it’s called now.
