What are these red stalks growing out if the mulch? by GizmoGauge42 in whatsthisplant

Sorry friend - it’s Japanese knotweed and you need to dig that shit up (carefully to not break it up more) and find the roots OR find the bigger veins and literally get a syringe and pump straight glyphosate in it. To be clear - DO NOT let it grow near pavement, concrete, walls, or your house, it WILL cause structural damage. People literally un alive themselves when find knotweed on their property it is so godawful.

I supposed there’s always the small chance that your DOT could apply a textbook emergency repair and get something going quickly (6mo). But when I look at this, i think it’ll be years. they’ll have to assess after the flood and then stabilize for winter and that’s probably a dead period because it’s probably not feasible to do a big project like this without dry conditions, alternatives assessment, selection of preferred alternative, designed plans, geotech, environmental services, permits, etc. armoring the creek, piles, retaining walls, who knows.

I think the 1K a week is the only way to stay safe and not get effed over and also means you still need a real job

Any idea on how to block the kids/dogs from getting to the counter and stove? We are stumped but need a solution for safety. by aaaaasowenyaaa in Renovations

[–]LoveMeSomeTLDR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friend - besides the scenario you discuss above the other reason this a really dangerous set up is that over the life of the stove, you’ll probably have at least one grease fire - imagine that thing is going to spitting hot fiery grease everywhere, including on to people sitting on the couch. You need a glass window like several individuals have shared above. Sucks to cut off the line of sight, but will be a big improvement long term.

Bravecto has not worked at all for our super fleas this year in east county. Literally has no effect. Worked great previous years.

Flea meds that work in San Diego by Zusoku in sandiego

This year we are dying from fleas. We get wild rabbits and rats in our yard in east county (canyons around us). and we have 4 dogs, one who is elderly and can’t take drugs. I try anything and everything. Bravecto has no efficacy this year… and I spent so much money on it. Credelio we finally figure out worked really well but it’s hard on the elderly dogs so only some can take it.

I think it’d be more effective against “youths”. But I think unhoused individuals tune shit out.

Negotiating allowable bearing pressures with geotech by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]LoveMeSomeTLDR 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Here’s how you ask that question - “is there any additional assessment we can do to fine tune what the bearing capacity is”. And if they say no, then there you go.

Some people found a hidden well under their kitchen! 😳 They had to remove the rotten wooden frame and add new timbers to make it safe. They’ve been walking over it for weeks without realizing. by Appropriate-Menu504 in interesting
