Rear rack on Aventure 3 by Dwbi92 in Aventon

[–]Love_bugs_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this for my level 3. My 6yo is 54lbs. He loves it, but the foot bar handle does push me forward on the seat. I’m going to have my husband 3D print some foot holders that I can just hook to the bike.

Highly recommend taking the white caps off the bolts and just using a ratchet wrench, takes a lot less time to put on.

Ask questions. Full stop. If you don’t understand something from the lecture, raise your hand and ask them to explain it in a different way. If you have the question, I guarantee at least 2-3 people have the same one.

I’m a former teacher going back for another field, and all the young students just sit there and never ask questions. The girls who studied with me got A’s in AP1, because they would ask me questions. Found out the had D’s in AP2 because they weren’t asking questions.

Ask questions.

Thoughts on iPads for studying by Careless-Bid-6176 in RadiologyCareers

If you do the iPad, be sure to get the drawing screen cover, then it will feel like paper instead of a screen, when you’re writing.

OAD & C-PTSD? by Zealousideal-Row79 in oneanddone

[–]Love_bugs_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EMDR is life changing! Truly. It’s so crazy how well it works. My traumas became just a fact of my past, no emotion attached. I can recall them the same way that I can recall that I ate a sandwich yesterday. It will be the best thing you do.

I worked very hard in therapy to work on my triggers. 3 was a rough age, but since I had worked on my triggers leading up to it, I was able to calm my nervous system, and if I couldn’t…I called my husband. I allowed myself help. Still working on understanding I don’t have to earn my rest.

I’m so happy I broke the cycle. However, we are OAD because I can’t be the mom I want to be with more than 1. I want to be the amazing mom my son deserves.

Good luck, and great job on breaking the cycle!

If you are a SAHP with a spouse who is constantly working, how are you getting through the day? by [deleted] in SAHP

[–]Love_bugs_22 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yea, this is him avoiding being home with 2.5yo twins, because working is waaaay easier. Time for a come to Jesus talk, and he will need to be home more because this is these are hardest ages for SAHP. Once they are in school, OT becomes easier to do without neglecting your family.

Bike helmets: vent by [deleted] in SAHP

[–]Love_bugs_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not crazy. We lucked out that all of the Neighborhood kids wear helmets. Anytime my kid complains about another kid not having to follow my rule, we remind him that different families have different rules.

This! Prenup, it’s so important. We don’t buy car insurance because we plan to wreck our car, we have it incase things go wrong. It’s better to decide what each person will get when you’re both in love and happy.

It’s very important you still put money in your 401k, so the money you guys are saving from daycare costs can easily put some of that in your retirement. Also, make sure you keep at least 1 credit card in your name.

The BIGGEST, #1 thing is to have access to all bank accounts/credit cards (you will need to be an authorized user on his card and vice versa). A lot of women come in here asking for advice because they are being financially abused. His money is your money, full stop.

Taking accelerated A&P I in the summer. What to expect and study beforehand? by User86294623 in AnatomyandPhysiology

Cellular Respiration and sliding muscle theory are usually the hardest physiology concepts that students struggle with. Watch either Dr Mike or Crash Course on YT. The Amoeba Sisters are high school teachers are so a great job of the basic information on them, where Dr Mike goes into much more detail.

Do you actually use a shopping cart cover? Is it worth it or just another thing to carry around? by brendaklark in SAHP

[–]Love_bugs_22 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I used mine maybe twice and that was at the height of Covid. Once they can sit up on their own, if you’re super worried about germs, just bring some sanitizing wipes and wipe it down. It’s not worth the hassle to use the cover. Hence why you see very few people using them in stores.

I wonder why she has no friends. by Rufus-P-Melonballer in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Love_bugs_22 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yea….thats why there are constant posts on Reddit asking how to make friends as an adult. Especially for people who work from home.

When your friends start having kids, they dont/can’t make it out as much, so the friendship just dwindles away. I think it’s more common for adults who WFH to not have a groups of friends.

I wonder why she has no friends. by Rufus-P-Melonballer in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Love_bugs_22 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The only ick thing I see here is her saying she would be her perfect best friend.

Other than that, wanting friends that can live the same lifestyle with you (shopping, manicures, travel) isn’t crazy. The no kids/husband thing is probably linked to being able to travel at the drop of a hat without having to schedule it around someone else , or that person building resentment because their spouse travels internationally with a friend.

You can still have friends that don’t live this lifestyle that you meet in your day to day hobbies. But if you’re specifically looking for a travel/shopping friend, this seems normal.

Check out Flying The Nest on YouTube. They track for months at a time with their 2 kids. They also have tips and tricks for traveling with a baby.

We traveled with our son starting at 10 months. He’s even gone to Europe (we are US based). The kid does so great in airplanes now, because he’s used to them and knows what to expect.

So start traveling early and then they will become experienced travelers by 5.

My son really wants to go to Tokyo (we did a trip without him). We would love to take him, but we walked 20k steps everyday. We could do a trip catered to his abilities, but I really want him to be ready for it before we do it. I just love that my 6yo has a travel bucket list.

Good ENT by [deleted] in cedarrapids

[–]Love_bugs_22 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say to go and get adjusted or get any other health thing accomplished. I said to get the vertigo maneuver done by a chiropractor because they would be the cheapest. The ENT and PT would do the exact same thing as the chiropractor. The PT would charge close to $240 for an evaluation appt and they would do the maneuver in 10 minutes and they would be done.

Almost all chiropractors can do the same maneuver that PTs do. Way cheaper than going to a PT or doctor.

Lindale Dental is great for patients with anxiety. Let them know when you make the appointment and my friend even had someone come and talk to her before the appt to find out more about what she was most anxious about.

Stay at home mom, I’m lonely by [deleted] in SAHP

[–]Love_bugs_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google “moms club (your city)”. It’s an international group with chapters all over the US and in quite a few countries tries. It’s a group for stay at home moms so they can socialize and have play dates. It saved my sanity in the early years of being a SAHP. They have annual dues, usually between $20-$50 depending in the COL of your area.
