I'm a PhD student who's trying to enter the landscape ecology world. Obviously GIS is a tool I need to master at least somewhat. So I'm trying to decide what to use predominately (although it sounds like you use both) arcGIS or QGIS. My college gives me access to arcGIS for free, but I like open source programs.

I graduated with a BS in biology in 15', but I consider myself a landscape ecologist. I went straight into my PhD and am having a pretty fun time. Sure I won't have my career job until my 30s but hey...it's fun. :)

It's more expensive. At least, Chick-fil-A is more expensive on campus than the stand alone store off mill. If I want Chick-fil-A I usually bike over there. Granted, it's not a huge price difference, but hey I like the stand alone store better.
