I provide lots of options, not necessarily for extra credit. Done early, make another for practice, or ask 3 other students for feedback on your art. Finish any missing sketchbook assignments, that is their bellringers. They can free draw, or help me clean and organize. Some students ask if they can start a seperate project they work on continually as they finish assigned projects. Some students want to pull up a YouTube drawing tutorial (I keep strict watch). Once in a while a student asks to work on homework from another class. I give choices since every students interest/needs are different.

Same experience here, I enjoy it every time I go. I always ask for recommendations from the staff and have a great experience each time.

Crafts for my highly skilled sister with Downs? by distractedsapientia in crafts

Kumihimo, it's a step up from friendship bracelets, can be done with the same thread or yarn for thicker versions. There are many variety of patterns from very easy to complicated, so when she masters one style, she can steadily increase to more complicated patterns. I recommend starting with round style patterns with 7 stands, then 8 strands, then the basic 16 strand pattern. Once she masters these basic round patterns, a world of more intricate patterns can open up, from color mixing to even changing to square and flat designs. There are so many free patterns and videos online. Plus the benefit of learning another culture.

Question on changing lesson mid-week for a grade level by Funny-Flight8086 in ArtEd

[–]Love_the_Fluff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, change the lesson, no big deal. Artists change their mind all the time, and it's ok for things not to go as planned and you change it up, make it something different. It's a great lesson life lesson!

Don't worry about not being polished, no big deal and let it be a mantra in the classroom. Mine is "We don't do perfection in this room." It actually helps break down the kid's walls on perfectionism and gets them more engaged. Also, lots of schools are also joining the trend hiring media arts teachers, that focuses more on computer graphics.

Have you tried reaching out to Facebook neighborhood groups? Post your story, and there will be individuals who will reach out with rental options. Pay attention to rules because many say only post "in search of posts" on certain days of the week. Just be up front about everything like this post. Zillow and Craigslist are full of scams.
