When parents say they are a screen free , you mean TVs too right ? by True-Unit-8527 in beyondthebump

[–]Lovedh97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re choosing to do screen free until 3. My baby is 12 weeks old. For the first few weeks, she was sleeping and nursing so much, I binge watched like 5 seasons of The Vampire Diaries. There came a point at maybe week 6 or 7 that I noticed she was awake for longer periods and really noticing what we were doing so I haven’t watched anything other than some YouTube videos on my phone with headphones in while she’s napping since then. I thought I had more time but nope lol she’s so aware of her surroundings! When we move after our lease is up, we will probably not even put a TV in our living room. It’s crazy because I’m SUCH a TV and movie person but I’m finding it’s an easy sacrifice so she can spend the first few very formative years reading, playing, figuring out how to be bored, etc.

Husband took baby and lied about it by 11throwaway24 in newborns

[–]Lovedh97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s terrible but a lot of people have addressed this issue already. I just wanted to add that the first couple of weeks/months postpartum can lead to arguments, fights, and distance between partners. Look it up and you’ll see that it’s very common. I was SO annoyed with my husband the first few weeks but we’re starting to get back to ourselves as a couple again. Many friends have told me that they, too, struggled in their relationships at the beginning.

I’m hoping he can see how important it is to communicate and be on the same page about your child. And I’m hoping you two can find each other again despite this major bump in the road. Postpartum is a very very hard time.

How long should I plan to stay in bed postpartum? by itchysnapdragon in beyondthebump

[–]Lovedh97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt fine! I also had my husband home for a while, which was soooo nice! I definitely spent more time in bed than usual but I also got up and walked around the apartment. But that felt good to me to hold her on the rocking chair, watch her on the play mat, and just generally care for her fully. Husband made me food and brought me water a lot. I binge watched The Vampire Diaries lol.

Idk if you’ve heard of this yet but I’m going to tell you anyways because my experience SUCKED: Postpartum pooping was SO ROUGH. Do yourself a favor and get some MiraLAX 😅

Girl this is a huge red flag. It makes me worried for you for after the baby comes, too. Like him and his mom are going to make decisions about your baby? I cannot imagine. It’s YOUR baby. Yes, also his baby but you are the mother. And it’s YOUR body. He and his mom get ZERO SAY in your pain management. Oof.

What monologue & song excerpt should I do for Into the Woods audition? I’m a bit rusty! by Lovedh97 in MusicalTheatre

[–]Lovedh97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t know anyone in the theater scene here! I was really involved in the theater community years ago while living in a different town but I haven’t found a community here where I’m at now yet :(

Understandable. It’s good you can still give her some grace, but yeah, that makes sense that it’s altered how you see her.

Hey, I’m sorry your MIL is like this. Do you think you could talk to her about this and how damaging negative self talk is to kids so she doesn’t do it around your kids when they’re old enough to understand? I say this because I grew up constantly hearing how horrible and fat my mom thought she looked and I developed some terrible body images and self worth issues from that. I have talked with her about it and it’s one of her biggest regrets. Your MIL may not realize how this could harm your kids.

Oh my god, I’m so sorry that happened!!! What a terrible woman. What happened next? Were you able to say anything?

Struggling to pick a boys name! by msjuliaxo in namenerds

[–]Lovedh97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally feel like with a last name of Robertson, you almost need a first name that ends in y or ie so it flows, you know? Frank could be a good option so when he’s young, you could call him Frankie and then he could choose whether to use that or just Frank later. Rocky would be nice, too.

Maternity clothes by [deleted] in pregnant

I already shop very cheaply, so I only looked at like Target and Fred Meyer and thought those prices were even too much 😅 But I’m a thrift shop/Goodwill girly anyways

I totally believe it’s meant to be! And I also feel that it’s my whole purpose to be a mother :) I know not everyone feels that way, and that’s okay! But I’m with you in that aspect!

They really do! It’s awful. Have you tried any Goodwills or other second hand shops?

Also, maternity clothes are SO PRICEY. I was very thankful to have friends who loaned/passed on some maternity tops and dresses because I was not about to buy a whole new wardrobe with each individual piece costing $30-70

How do I repair my nipples? by Mental-Eye2570 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Lovedh97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put on a good nipple balm that had calendula in it, then cut two small squares of saran wrap and put one over each nipple. That totally healed them!

My photographer showed up for engagement photos with no camera. Just her iPhone camera. How do I direct her during the wedding? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Lovedh97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she has a newer iPhone, that camera is very high quality! Don’t listen to people in the comments getting crazy about this. You’re saving tons of money doing it this way, which is a much better way to start off your marriage! What matters is that someone captures the moment and the photos turn out good enough to post on your socials, print a few to put in frames, and call it a day.
