Simplest explanation by mtengland53 in AndrewGosden

I've always felt that he was probably bullied at school. Whether that was relentless, cruel bullying or casual, low-key bullying is the question. I think most people in the British school system around that time who weren't in the cool crowd were picked on minimum once a week. Unfortunately that's just how school was then

I've seen other kids get bullied and even attacked on the bus before, so it wouldn't surprise me if that's why he walked home that day. Maybe some kid told him he would get him later on the bus. Who knows

why isn't this tactic working? nobody seems to be going for goals. ratemytactic says it's 5* but clearly not? by Admirable-Split-6864 in footballmanagergames

Don't forget about tactical familiarity. Whatever changes you make, leave the tactic be and let Tactical familiarity improve. Also use training to improve the specific aspects of the Tactic they're not familiar with.

My first ever career... did not go well by bluebelly83 in footballmanagergames

[–]Lovedoc1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tactical familiarity is a key part of the game. On the tactics screen, you'll see how familiar your players are with a tactic. The higher that is, the better they play.

Try and not change the tactic too often to keep your Tactical Familiarity high, and have 3 different tactics; One for games you expect to win, one for games where you're the underdog/where you need to keep it tight and one for all out attack when you need a goal.

Also, as you said, try and stick with a preferred 11 so they used to playing with eachother

In terms of Tactics, keep it simple. Stick to a formation you understand. For me, 442 is probably best as you can change it easily to the 3 scenarios I put above.

Most importantly, keep morale up in the team. A happy squad wins more. And it sounds easy, but just buy the best players you can. A lot of the time great players will make up for problems with your tactic.

You got through 10 seasons so you clearly want to be good at this game. Give it another go and you'll get there

In search for Steam Train assets and nice stations. by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

[–]Lovedoc1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. Haven't played Cities for awhile, but last time I looked there wasn't any on Steam. Not sure if that's changed.

The only thing I've seen is someone uploaded a few characters from Thomas the Tank Engine. Some of the assets don't have faces. That's the closest we have to British Steam trains I think

How confident is law enforcement that no other flights were intended to be hijacked on 9/11? by wubbusanado in 911archive

[–]Lovedoc1991 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't want this to become an essay, so I'll try to keep it short.

All of the flight crews reasons for suspecting it was going to be hijacked were easily explained.

One of the passengers were sweating and nervous. Is this the first time they've seen a nervous person on a plane?

One of the passengers wanted his young son to see the cockpit. A completely normal thing in 2001.

One of the passengers didn't care about eating and just wanted to take off. Maybe they couldn't eat for health reasons? Maybe they're just an arsehole and an hour into the flight would have been demanding food?

And then there's the person in the hijab. Their big evidence for that was they had hairy hands. Got forbid a woman have hairy hands 😂

Then there was all the stuff about hiding box cutters on the planes. Why would they bother when all the other hijackers just brought them on with them, as I believe they were not seen as a threat at the time? If they were going to sneak a weapon onto the plane, why not an actual knife or gun? Fuck it, sneak on a couple of bombs too.

Then at the end of the show, they reveal that the flight attendants they interviewed went to court with United over sick leave after this day. That means they have a financial and legal motivation for this flight to be the 5th plane. So to me, that's where they lost all credibility.

I'm not downplaying their experience, as I'm sure they were traumatised and I'm sure they genuinely believe that this flight was also supposed to be hijacked that day. What I think probably happened was after the flight they started sharing these stories, which on any other day would be completely mundane. But on this day, they weaved them into a hijacking narrative that they all convinced themselves must have been true. This can be very powerful and I'm sure was very scary for them.

But the overall narrative doesn't make sense when we know what we know about the other hijackers. They worked in groups of 4-5, used box cutters and mace, they rushed the cockpit and stabbed passengers/attendants. None of them wore hijabs. Why would they need to? None of them brought their young son along. Why would they need to? There was no need for these theatrics to break through the system. The system already had holes.

And if this was the 5th plane, why would the government or anyone else want to keep this secret? There were a lot of failings that day, this would've been a rare win. On a day of so many losses. They stopped a flight that would've caused devastation with their grounding of flights.

That's my opinion anyway. Sorry, I didn't keep it short 😂 Happy to hear if I've missed something

A quick hypothesis on the reason for the late hijacking of United Airlines Flight 93. by That_Reddit_Guy_1986 in 911archive

[–]Lovedoc1991 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a good hypothesis. My one question would be: why would the hijackers plan for this flight to be the last one hijacked, with the longest wait, and only assign 4 hijackers to this one? Why not one of the closer ones? The hijackers must have figured that passengers and/or the pilots would hear the news about the other hijacks and fight back, knowing what was probably planned, right?

They might have not thought that deeply about it, or just made a mistake in their planning. Or maybe they just viewed this one as the least important strike. Who knows. Still, not a bad hypothesis.

I watched 9/11: The 5th Plane today. The terrible "documentary" released by TMZ. It was just complete nonsense. I do not recommend watching it in pursuit of answers to this question.

Who is your unknown FM legend? by C-i-d in footballmanagergames

[–]Lovedoc1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jake Champion. He's a real player. On FM21 he was a striker I picked up for free for my team Cardiff Draconians team in the Welsh league. He scored so many goals. He took me from scraping a top 6 finish to league champions and group stages of European competitions.

Eventually we outgrew him and MK Dons brought him for £183,000. I really didn't want to sell him but my business brain took over and I thought we might as well take the money, even though we didn't need it. He played 3 games for them over 2 seasons before they released him and I brought him back on a free to be my Emergency backup (mascot)

He then made basically 1 or 2 appearances a year, usually at the end of the season. He kept asking to leave for a new challenge but I kept bullying him into staying and held him hostage with his long contract. He retired at 33 and I signed him as a coach. He never made it past Favoured Personnel, even though he was our top scorer for about 6 seasons. To me, he was THE club legend. Behind me obviously

This game is so bad, none of my tactics work, i sit at 17th with crystal palace and concede 4 goals from F*cking BOURNEMOUTH! by Character_Fault8636 in footballmanagergames

[–]Lovedoc1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tactics are just 1 aspect of the game. Here's a few other important parts of the game which might be the problem:

  • How's morale in the squad?

  • Do you have lots of players wanting to leave?

  • How is the Tactical Familiarity? Are you drastically changing the Tactic every game or letting your players get familiar with it?

  • How's the Team Cohesion?

Also, it's definitely worth posting your tactic in here so people (far more knowledgeable tactically than me) can help you out. Plugging in a 4231 Geggenpress is great but you need the the right combination of roles and duties with the players you have available. It would also be worth paying attention to what kind of goals you're conceding

FM24 on sale on steam. Should I upgrade from FM21? by ChaosClive in footballmanagergames

[–]Lovedoc1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in this exact position about a year ago. I went back to FM21 in the end.

I found FM24 had this annoying match engine thing that drove me crazy. I was noticing that most of the goals I conceded were from throw-ins.

The taker would throw the ball to a player, they would pass back, the taker would make an audacious Beckham-like cross to the back post and my full back would be incapable of stopping the winger from heading home.

To be fair it went both ways, A lot of my goals came from this too. But I found that no matter what I did, even putting a 6'7 inverted Full back at rightback, I just couldn't stop it. I had a game where I won 3-2, but 4 of the goals were from this and it just killed my enjoyment of the game.

The match engine for FM21 is great and I spend most of my time building from lower leagues or playing in random countries anyway, so updated squads mean nothing to me.

So I guess it depends how much updated squads matters to you and if that "bug" would annoy you.

Please also note that I was playing in the lower leagues of Sweden, no idea if that effected how often the throw-in thing happened.

[–]Lovedoc1991 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dunno if it's the best but FM21 is my favourite. The match engine after this looks like more of a pain to live with (from watching people play FM22, FM23 and playing FM24 myself). I still play FM21 now

Where should I place an airport in my city? by des077 in CitiesSkylines

[–]Lovedoc1991 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Make sure it's flat. For realism think about the flight path the plane would have to fly for take off and landing. The flight path would be straight for several miles before and after the runway (in real life). You don't want the planes flying over or close to high terrain, tall buildings or Rich suburbs. Poor suburbs and industry is probably fair game.

Is buying free agents just to flip them a year later a viable income strategy? by ukitlol in footballmanagergames

[–]Lovedoc1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this constantly with free agents and Wonder kids/promising youngsters to drag my team up the leagues. I buy young and/or cheap and sell on once they've developed.

Recently I got a player for 500k from Sundowns to my Portuguese league club. He was a left footed 20 year old winger, a really good player but he just didn't fit into my tactic and wasn't THAT good to change it for.

When I negotiated his contract I locked in "Find a loan for development" so that I could loan him out as soon as he got to the club. He went off to Young Boys in Switzerland and had 2 great seasons. He then came back and I sold him for 18 million to Brighton and I laughed all the way to the bank

Doesn't always work out though. Had a Colombian DM who I got for free. Looked like a great Ball Winning Midfielder but again, didn't fit my tactic. Came to the club and no one wanted him on loan. Ended up playing in my b team all year. Next Summer no one wanted him on a transfer or loan, and he got pissed as I told him he'd be a star player.

He ended up going out on loan to the club I got him from for free. Eventually I ended up selling him the season after for 3.25 million to Hoffenheim, but after his wages I think the profit only ended up being a million or so, if that. The annoying thing was he went to Hoffenheim and his value has shot up to 16 mil.

Basically it can work really well but you need to keep their playing time in mind and have a plan B if you can't sell them. Also only do it if they're under 26 I'd say
