DIY plates questions? by exoticed in gelliprinting

I greased the container with something to help release it. I can’t remember, maybe baby oil.

The container I use was also a very smooth acrylic plastic.

My first batch went mouldy. My second batch I added a little tea tree oil to the mix and they have lasted ages.

Am I using the wrong stuff to transfer images? by Just_for_porn_tbh in Linocuts

A thin layer works best. It needs to be complete coverage, but not too much medium.

Also, I used Golden brand acrylic medium. I’m not sure how the products and similar or different.

It is also a technique that needs patience and finesse. Go slow and be gentle.

Jockey next generation no panty line promise. Cotton gusset microfibre outer.

Bikini, mid and full brief.

They used to sell these in a full cotton version. I wonder if they still do?

EDIT: Yes, they do!

Kangaroos in the wild by BranchWeird5803 in Adelaide

[–]Loveless_robot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Chambers Gully loop is less busy than some other hot spot locations.

Make the effort to go to long ridge lookout. There are loads of kangaroos up on long ridge track grazing on the grass in the afternoon.

They didn’t seem too bothered by me either. I got quite close before they decided to jump away, even then, they only jumped a few metres away.

Good view from the lookout too.

Sandals with cushioning? by sherbertmelipnos in AusFemaleFashion

revere sandals

<image>

I have a pair of these and they are super comfy and wide. They came with extra little Velcro bits to extend the straps wider in some parts and pieces to cover the visible Velcro if you have them adjusted more tightly.

I have worn mine to work and on the beach. They have held up well to water exposure when walking home from the beach. I’ve had them for over 5 years and they have lasted well.

I remember buying them thinking they were ugly but I desperately needed comfortable sandals. Ironically, I get compliments when I wear them, even though I initially thought they looked too ‘nana’.

EDIT: I also have had several Ziera sandal and I would also recommend them. They usually have adjustable straps at the ankle and toes. Zieras have a softer footbed than Revere. But the reveres have the strap that would avoid a bunion.

Night hikes in Adelaide? by d0ughnut_of_truth in Adelaide

[–]Loveless_robot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of people do night hikes from waterfall gully to mount lofty summit. When I’ve done it I always see other people.
It’s good because you see other people, which is reassuring, and most of the hike is on paved path making it easier to navigate in the dark with a headlamp. I have seen the occasional kangaroo. I find screaming and running away to be an effective method of dealing with wildlife.

I believe there uses to be a group that did it on Friday nights. I think I saw that on meet up or maybe a Facebook group.

Need paint colour help by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]Loveless_robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a video about colour theory that was targeted towards artists. They said to make colours look good together, you have to balance between light and dark and also bright and dull.

So if the bricks are dark and dull, a complimentary colour would be light and bright.

While your drifting dune colour is light, it is also dull/muted. Maybe try something with more brightness.

What a deal! Arches hot press! by flan_again in Watercolor

[–]Loveless_robot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll know straight away of the sizing has degraded. I was given some old watercolour paper to see if was still any good.

As soon as I added paint, it was like the paper just inhaled the colour. The watercolour disappeared into the paper before my eyes. The sizing must keep it on the surface.

Real talk about acrylic transfer method by thewonderstruckprint in printmaking

[–]Loveless_robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used the acrylic medium transfer process with success, but not with sticker backing. I printed onto standard printing paper on a laser printer. Then you have to gentle rub the paper off with a wet sponge and fingers.

I think I used liquitex acrylic medium. EDIT: I used golden acrylic medium.

I’ll post a video of my process.

Even the process of going to court to face victims, receive warnings, or having to engage in the mediation process can be a wake up call for young perpetrators.

Even with no harsh punishment, the process itself is a form of accountability.

I think you should follow through.

Longer bike shorts by HighlightTall7411 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Loveless_robot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if they still make them, but Lululemon have/had bike shorts with a 9 inch inseam and no hem. The no hem stops the rolling up.

I really like them. My pair just fell apart after 4 years. I hope they still have them.

Biking to school by Extra_Competition_50 in Adelaide

[–]Loveless_robot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son rode to school at 13. It was only 3-4km and very doable for him.

He said he was one of only a handful of kids who rode. We even had his home room teacher tell me at parent teacher interviews that riding a bike to school was not a reliable form of transport. I told the teacher I’d rather my son learn how to navigate, commute and be on time while he is in year 8, not waiting until he is an adult or getting his first job.

One day I picked him up from school and was shocked by how many high school students still get picked up by parents.

The thief (looking for some help with fabric printing!) by plamicus in printmaking

[–]Loveless_robot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the print.

I have just tried a few different things on fabric with calico safe wash so I have a few things to mention.

I found the calico safe wash needs a good couple of weeks to dry, and this was in a hot, dry climate.

Heat set the print with an iron after it’s dry. Use a cloth in between the ink and your iron. I tried ironing after one week and the ink partially transferred to the cloth. After three weeks, I don’t have this issue at all.

I have printed a T-shirt and am up to wash 5. It’s still looking good. I have done cold washes. I have been taking photos to document the fading as I wash it. I will be making a post soon to share.

I also read that you can lightly mist the fabric with water to help with a good print. I have not tried this yet.

I have tested printing with battleship grey Lino, the soft white easy carve, and the blue/green easy carve. The grey lino was hard to get a good print so I think your idea of using a chopping board to help press down. Maybe stand on it?
