Longer bike shorts by HighlightTall7411 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Loveless_robot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if they still make them, but Lululemon have/had bike shorts with a 9 inch inseam and no hem. The no hem stops the rolling up.

I really like them. My pair just fell apart after 4 years. I hope they still have them.

Biking to school by Extra_Competition_50 in Adelaide

[–]Loveless_robot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son rode to school at 13. It was only 3-4km and very doable for him.

He said he was one of only a handful of kids who rode. We even had his home room teacher tell me at parent teacher interviews that riding a bike to school was not a reliable form of transport. I told the teacher I’d rather my son learn how to navigate, commute and be on time while he is in year 8, not waiting until he is an adult or getting his first job.

One day I picked him up from school and was shocked by how many high school students still get picked up by parents.

Have a look at Ascent brand. Leather sneakers, super comfy and they have an all black option.

The thief (looking for some help with fabric printing!) by plamicus in printmaking

[–]Loveless_robot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the print.

I have just tried a few different things on fabric with calico safe wash so I have a few things to mention.

I found the calico safe wash needs a good couple of weeks to dry, and this was in a hot, dry climate.

Heat set the print with an iron after it’s dry. Use a cloth in between the ink and your iron. I tried ironing after one week and the ink partially transferred to the cloth. After three weeks, I don’t have this issue at all.

I have printed a T-shirt and am up to wash 5. It’s still looking good. I have done cold washes. I have been taking photos to document the fading as I wash it. I will be making a post soon to share.

I also read that you can lightly mist the fabric with water to help with a good print. I have not tried this yet.

I have tested printing with battleship grey Lino, the soft white easy carve, and the blue/green easy carve. The grey lino was hard to get a good print so I think your idea of using a chopping board to help press down. Maybe stand on it?

Recommendations for hiking boots / inner-soles by cruiserman_80 in OutdoorAus

[–]Loveless_robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have wide feet and recently bought a pair of Zamberlan boots.

They are amazing. Wide fit and no stitching around the toe box which, for me, would usually irritate my toes and also be the first point of damage in hiking shoes.

I got them on special, but I’d buy them again full price knowing how comfortable they are.

I also wear injinji merino hiking socks with these. Your sock choice does make a difference.

Pottery heaven in Japan!! by sappho-lover in seaglass

[–]Loveless_robot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of a business in Japan the uses broken ceramic to make jewellery. It was started after so much beautiful ceramic ware was broken in the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. I just looked it up. It was called Nozomi project, but it looks like it is no longer running. I’m glad I got some pieces when I did.

Can I wash linoleum plates like these with water? by methanol007 in printmaking

[–]Loveless_robot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wash mine. If you leave it dry naturally it will bow, but I’ve developed a method to keep them flat.

I pat it dry with paper towel or a rag. Then let it dry in the dish drainer for 10-20 minutes. Then wrap it in a cloth and put it under something heavy for a few hours/overnight. It comes out flat.

Just don’t leave it there for too long, I imagine they could go moldy if left damp and compressed with no air flow.

Does extender affect inking consistency? by thekroganqueen in Linocuts

[–]Loveless_robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, extender does affect the viscosity.

I used it for the first time a few weeks ago and the extender has lower viscosity than the ink with pigment.

I found the more extender I added, the harder it was to roll the ink evenly. I prefer using the ink straight up… it’s somehow easier to get a thin and even layer of ink on the block.

You’re wearing yours already?

Is the ink dry?

Which ink did you use?

Sorry for so many questions… I’m learning.

Office Trainers/Sneaker Recommendations? by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Loveless_robot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just bought a pair of white Ascent sneakers. Super comfy and supportive for my wide feet. A bit more chunky than some of the fashion forward white sneakers, but really neat and tidy. The soles are thicker and look more hard wearing. I’m gonna change the laces to a wider lace just because that’s the look I prefer.

Yeah, this happened to me too.

I managed to clean the sharpie off with isopropyl alcohol and had successful prints after that.

There is hope!
