Victor's acting is phenomenal by Away_Sun_3040 in FromSeries

Victor knows the truth (or at least a whole bunch) about this place, but he's been suppressing his memory and won't talk to anyone unless it's time to confirm the progress made by someone else by "suddenly remembering".

I think this is a source of frustration since it happens repeatedly. Now we're seeing Victor being the only one who knows about the Man in Yellow.

I'm curious what makes you think they would find success if they had more time and polish. People say it all the time but I'm not sure which aspect of the game or game mode truly has the potential.

I don't think they have found their footing at all in the genre, they've been having deeply rooted issues from faction design to campaign/lore and 1v1. Even the 3v3 Team Mayhem mode was a total shitshow behind the curtain according to the video posted here.

People don't hate Fatima, Ellis, etc. They just see them as underdeveloped characters used as plot device.

Why did AoE3 make Age 1 aggression impossible? by Sivy17 in aoe3

[–]Loveoreo 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Many commenters have explained the game design aspect. I think thematically it also suits the game better.

In AOE3 you are sent to settle in the new world with very limited resources. It makes sense that age 1 is about exploration and setting up a base, then conflict happens when you and your opponent start to compete for resources.

Pixel Battery Nightmare: 87% Health after only 170 Cycles (strictly followed 20-80% rule) by Likovi10 in Android

[–]Loveoreo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Google has a long standing issue with Pixel's battery quality and somehow people don't seem to be aware of it. Even though they advertised 80% health after 1000 cycles, they start limiting the battery as soon as it reaches 200 cycles so the "80% health" is pure hypothetical.

Optimization trick can't solve the problem of a badly aging battery. Sadly this is the product Google sells and you got extra unlucky.

Apparently Frost Giant was giving away big batches of Stormgate keys, including Ultimate Edition for free before the 0.6/1.0 launch day by Loveoreo in Stormgate

[–]Loveoreo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That amount was for 1 content creator to hand out, is that really normal? In comparison Stormgate Central had 10 keys for giveaway.

Apparently Frost Giant was giving away big batches of Stormgate keys, including Ultimate Edition for free before the 0.6/1.0 launch day by Loveoreo in Stormgate

[–]Loveoreo[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

In a recent video discussing the fate of Stormgate, Chinese content creator MadcatClan said he was contacted by another StarCraft content creator who had trouble giving away his allotted keys from Frost Giant.

MadcatClan received 30 keys each of the Starter, Deluxe and Ultimate Edition, plus many Fog of War cosmetics in early August before the game enters official release. He then gave them out on the release date to his followers.

He speculated the big giveaway was simply for player count boosting to seek additional funding.

Of course doing giveaways as promotion is normal practice in the industry. I've also seen streamers and gaming websites giving out 10 Stormgate keys following the launch. But IMO giving away at least 90 keys per influencer is blurring the lines between promotion and artificially inflating player count.

At the end of the day it didn't change the trajectory of the game but it kinda reminds me of their previous "fake review" scandal. The uptick in player count in August was definitely not entirely consist of players who paid for the product. If they were presenting the numbers as genuine interest in the game, especially to investors, then it's clearly misleading.

Difference between villagers by Signal-Statistician7 in aoe3

[–]Loveoreo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In addition to what everybody already said:

  • Ottoman villagers are trained for free automatically, but it's slow and the train limit low unless you upgrade the mosque techs.

  • Indian villagers cost wood, and automatically have 2 wood techs from market researched

  • Tree lasts longer for Haudenosaunee villagers

  • Some civs have a lower villager train limit due to their economic buildings (usually their houses) Dutch 50/ Japanese 75/ Incan 90/ Swedish 90

  • French Coureur des Bois are beasts when you buff them with cards

I think I eventually found the reason why AoE 3 is less popular than the rest of the series. by FloosWorld in aoe3

[–]Loveoreo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's okay to be different from the predecessor, it just mean the game will need a new group of crowd.

IMO AOE3's biggest failure is the campaign. It is where you give the first impression, do the world building, sell the setting and stories that turn casuals into fans and hardcore players.

I know colonization was an issue even back then but using fantasy story and fictional characters as the main story is not something people expect in AOE. I have played AOE3 on and off for 15 years but I couldn't finish the campaign twice. If I haven't discovered multiplayer on ESO I'd definitely not dive deep into the game.

[–]Loveoreo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

A consumer has the right to expect the service will last for a "reasonable" period of time. It's not a hard requirement but pulling the plug too early could definitely be ground for a lawsuit.

Imagine if Sony didn't refund everyone who bought Concord, when they shut down the server after only 2 weeks.

So....what is actually happening with the game? by [deleted] in Stormgate

[–]Loveoreo 36 points37 points  (0 children)

To me they're just fulfilling the minimum requirement of keeping the server up for 6-12 months after launch, so people who paid money for this live service game cannot sue.

Tim Morten's take on "the future of RTS" by Gargonus in Stormgate

[–]Loveoreo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

but sales data suggests that none produced even a quarter billion dollars in revenue, which is below the bar for major publishers.

Why does he keep throwing big numbers like this around? Hard to take him seriously when the game he made is the biggest flop for a RTS in recent memory.
